Overkill? You say that now, but the first time a suicide bomber gets on a bus and kills dozens, you will be the first to be pissed at the government for doing nothing.

Yeah because we have had so many suicide bomber on buses lately oh wait we've never had any such thing and bus crime is ridiculously low. However the dumbed down sheeple will go along for the most part rather then assert their inherent rights.

42 USC § 1983 - CIVIL ACTION FOR DEPRIVATION OF RIGHTS

Every person who, under color of any statute, ordinance, regulation, custom, or usage, of any State or Territory or the District of Columbia, subjects, or causes to be subjected, any citizen of the United States or other person within the jurisdiction thereof to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured by the Constitution and laws, shall be liable to the party injured in an action at law, suit in equity, or other proper proceeding for redress, except that in any action brought against a judicial officer for an act or omission taken in such officer’s judicial capacity, injunctive relief shall not be granted unless a declaratory decree was violated or declaratory relief was unavailable. For the purposes of this section, any Act of Congress applicable exclusively to the District of Columbia shall be considered to be a statute of the District of Columbia.

P.S.S. Because we have had so many planes flying into buildings?

So why don't we just have DHS and police randomly knock on doors search homes, cars, and strip search everyone just to make sure no one is planning a terrorist attack? I don't care how many planes fly into buildings Opps its only been the one incident none of this makes us safer. Isreal has random suicide bombers and they do not even go to this extreme geeze... If you want to live in some police state because bad things happen sometimes and think you safer that's your problem however don't tell me I need to give up my rights because of your ignorance and stupidity!

You are the definition of stupidity as you can't comprehend my point.

You are not worth a further explanation. Review my posts.

hawkiye & amongus...Settle down lads.

Here's some candy for both of you. Now go back to your corners and think about how you've been acting today...

Seriously tho, good discussion points from both sides. And this debate will never be settled if there is no discussion at all.

I'm not being antagonistic. I actually respect your posts here on ATS. bUT, if you were the POTS, how would YOU deal with the threat? Knowing that one incident would jeopardize your re election?

Like I said, I respect you. I don't want to engage in a pissing match...but knowing that we do NOT live in a utopia, what steps would you take to cover your bases?

Doing NOTHING is just ignorant.....

Sorry for the italics

Because you speak with respect and courtesy, I will answer you. Thank you for that btw.

If I "were the POTS".... well I am the pots, but that's not my biggest problem.

If I were the President of this country, I would immediately get to the bottom of the issues.
Then I'd learn that the underground gov't is pretty much running the show and all I'm there to do is sign papers for the big corporations to make them "official."

The President has no power in the way the gov't runs. No president is telling Exxon, Mobile, Shell, Halliburton, the CIA, NSA, FBI, IBM, Microsoft, GE, etc. what they CAN and CAN'T do.... not in this lifetime. The revolving door of corporations - politics has taken over, the Builderbergers dictate global policy, like a yearly ISP meeting, and that's how the world currently works. Holding on to old beliefs is futile and naive.

Who benefits from what's going on? FOLLOW THE MONEY. Basic corruption 101.
If you do your homework, you'll come up with the same names. Everyone is free to look at it, nothing changes regardless, they aren't afraid of us. They are afraid of critical thinkers, an awake society, a brave society. They want us to stay afraid and dependent on gov't.

So as President, I'd have to expose the corruption on Live TV unexpectedly. Obama might do this but it's doubtful.

Any REAL president and leader of the people would immediately halt the use of sodium fluoride in the water, and send emergency supplies to starving African countries. Anyone who doesn't do that, is a shill puppet, period.

How about we just track every purchase in every store. Then we can put all the credit card transactions in to a big database. If a single person buys any two things that can explode when combined we then send a special federal agent to investigate.

That is the ultimat contigency plan. Then you can stop the person before they even get out of their house.

Some people are either extremely easy to brainwash or just flat out shills! If ever terrorists attacked in the US it was likely because they were tired of the US government being in their business! It never has been about terrorists, it has always been about quelling an uprising of the people who are tired of being under total control!

Never have truer words been spoken.

There would be no "Terrorist" threat if the US would pull back to their own business. In fact, why is it a terrorist attack if it happens in the US but it's only an incursion if the US pulls it elsewhere?

The "terrorist" attacks in the US are only retaliation to invasions elsewhere.

Peace

Sorry if I came off terse. I am more and more disgusted with shills and traitors! I find it extremely difficult to believe that people can be so...we'll just say simple for now. Nobody can be THAT simple!

If you look at the monetary policy of the US over the last two decades it reminds you of an IMF relief package. In every plan of action the IMF writes for nations taking loans they plan for the "unavoidable" rioting. It is easier to control if the mechanisms are in place ahead of time. However, we may be overestimating the American people if we believe they will ever right like they have in Europe, Asia, Africa, adn South America.

I believe it is all about getting ready for a situation they see as unavoidable. Everyone knows an economic collapse is more a matter of when than if. It has been the same world wide when countries adopt the policies our government is chasing. So, if you know the consequences, why not prepare while the populace sleeps?

The USA is lost sadly, the battle is over and TPTB have become victorious. A sad day really. I just can't get my head around how some people can defend this. Random searches, pat downs, just because you were on a bus. The US constitution has been thrown out of the window. Actually it has been reassigned as toilet paper.

There is only two ways of looking at this, 1, there is genuine fear by the government that terrorists are constantly trying to strike everywhere in America, and they believe it is critical to ensure the safety of US citizens, as per the official line. If this is true, then the terrorists have actually already won, the idea of terrorism is to disrupt its intended target, to change their lives and make them cower in "Terror" and so their targets finally agree to the terrorists terms. Well done Al-Qaeda, from the mountains of Afghanistan you have brought America to its knees and made them destroy its constitution. Who knew a few people in caves 1000's of miles away could of destroyed this once proud nation. The American people have lost

2, There is no real threat on buses, and this is just a ploy to add more levels of governmental control and intimidation. A modern day incarnation of the Gestapo, Papiere bitte. Another step towards the totalitarian state and fascist like control of the citizens. The American people have lost.

There is no way to dress this up as a good thing for the American people. Having the TSA route throw grannies shopping bag does not end terrorism, it is its own form of terrorism. Having the TSA putting their hands down childrens underwear does not end terrorism, it is its own form of terrorism.

America should hold a wake, and a birthing party at the same time. A wake for the death of "The land of the free and home of the brave" and a birthing party for "The land of the slave, home of the afraid"

I worry that they will blow up a bus, then tell us all that we need this security more than ever. I mean, hell, they may as well start initiating mandatory vaccine programs to people wanting to board planes and busses, then they can get that in there as well.

I guess "if you see something, say something" didn't work.
Where is the ACLU on this?
Maybe we should start carrying our passports to present or have a small card to present stating"

" I am a citizen of the United States. I have the right not to subject myself to any unconstitutional questions or searches based on the 4th amendment of the US Constitution."

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Stop and frisk
Under Terry v. Ohio 392 U.S. 1 (1968), law enforcement officers are permitted to conduct a limited warrantless search on a level of suspicion less than probable cause under certain circumstances. In Terry, the Supreme Court ruled that when a police officer witnesses "unusual conduct" that leads that officer to reasonably believe "that criminal activity may be afoot", that the suspicious person has a weapon and that the person is presently dangerous to the officer or others, the officer may conduct a "pat-down search" (or "frisk") to determine whether the person is carrying a weapon. To conduct a frisk, officers must be able to point to specific and articulatory facts which, taken together with rational inferences from those facts, reasonably warrant their actions. A vague hunch will not do. Such a search must be temporary and questioning must be limited to the purpose of the stop (e.g., officers who stop a person because they have reasonable suspicion to believe that the person was driving a stolen car, cannot, after confirming that it is not stolen, compel the person to answer questions about anything else, such as the possession of contraband).[23]

Give me a terrorist any day. At least I know their agenda. At least I have an enemy I can stand against.

Ask yourself, why haven't there been any terrorist attacks on America lately? 9/11 showed the true America. We have never been so united as a people as the days, weeks, months following that attack. Those who want control realized that is not the way to gain control.

So what do they do? They take a page out of the Nazi playbook. They want to protect you, make you safe. You just need to submit to their will. Do as they say, they will take care of everything.

I am afraid it is going to have to get far worse before the majority wakes up to what is happening. Perhaps when we need passports to travel from state to state. No, America is now a failed experiment. At least failed for those who want control.

How many generations will it take to erase the memory of the America that was?

You know what?

This is a job I'd like to do. I like taking rides and going places and seeing things.

And this job would pay me to do so.

And basically, I'd be paid for doing nothing because there are no terrorists on America's buses.

Remember....with NDAA passed, all you have to be is "suspect" to be held indefinitely in military custody without charge or trial. That begs the question: Suspected by whom and for what?

Keep your ears open for the words, domestic terrorism, to be used more and more.

Yup,

I also posted a few threads about a year ago and stated the very exact thing.

They will be on buses, trains and the sidewalks. You will be asked to show your papers anytime, anywhere.

Damn, I truly wish I wasn't right on that one.

Peace
