Women are more moral than men, with those over 30 years old having the strongest values, a survey has suggested.

The study, which measured responses to questions about honesty and competency, showed females are more likely to make decisions based on how they impact on others.

Participants were asked to make statements about their work and home lives, including judgments on whether those around them would consider them honest.

They then rated statements such as “I am good at exercising self-control” and “I always honour people’s trust in me” to establish their results.

Finally, they were labelled as one of six personality types: philosopher; judge; angel; teacher; enforcer; or guardian.

The Telegraph

Are women more moral?

This study was based on what women said, not what they did. It is possible that the women in the study were just more likely to give answers to questions that make them appear more moral than men.

So, what we can take from this study is that women lie more(or more convincingly) than men.

Those kinds of tests are very wrong, people answer those to make themselves sound better then they actually are. And then you have to take in demographics and where on the planet they live and etc.

Women around here? No. I've met more men with good morals than women here. Women are very good at making themselves seem more than they actually are (sorry ladies, just my experience). But men are just as bad as well. So i guess it really doesnt matter
,

Men and women morals cannot even be compared, morals of the individuals themselves are what count. You'll find good and bad in both sexes.

I guess that would depend on how we define "moral" ?

Are women generally speaking more "empathetic" and nurturing, probably.

Are men generally speaking more brave and "protective", probably.

I was trying to remember the name of a play I saw years ago where the women all got together and witheld sex from all the men until they stopped "fighting" the war they were in, it was a very funny play, because for all the women's good intentions they missed the "company" of thier men just as much as the men did.

www.youtube.com...

I couldn't find the name of play, but came across this clip and thought is was interesting.

In a perfect world I would think men and women would balance each others "humanity" thus...thier morality as well......♥

This type of research cannot be considered scientific by any stretch of the imagination, and it could imply, as other posters have pointed out, that women are more comfortable with lying.

However, in my own life experiences, it is not a matter of gender, but of personality type. Certain personalities are more honest and moral than others. Other personalities are more prone towards lying and bending morals to suit their wants and needs.

They should have administered the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) along with the questionnaire, as that test is used often in court cases to determine which person is more likely to lie and paint themselves in a good light.

Yeah, I'm not so sure I buy that women are better liars, not that women don't lie, very few among us can say we never have. Personally I suck at it, always regret it, and avoid doing it, nothing good comes from it.

LOL, that's why I will never be a "great" poker player, although I'm a "good" one...
But heck, playing poker probably already makes me immoral ! Based on that small observation of human nature, it's my experience that women are far less likely to "bluff", if another woman is betting strong in a hand I tend to believe she has something, possibly a foolish assumption, lol, and another reason I will never be "great" at poker!

60,000 people is a very small group to be making such claims. Sounds like propaganda to me. Women, hate men they are immoral you are better blah blah blah and more feminist garbage. I think there are moral men out there and moral women out there and there are immoral women and immoral men. And I use the term moral as it pertains to our societies view of morality. On the all people are people and gender doesnt decide the type of person you are.

Solomon, who had 1000 wives and concubines had this to say of virtue

ECCLESIASTES 7:27 BEHOLD, THIS HAVE I FOUND SAITH THE PREACHER, COUNTING ONE BY ONE TO FIND OUT THE ACCOUNT. 28 WHICH YET MY SOUL SEEKETH, BUT I FIND NOT: ONE MAN AMONG A THOUSAND HAVE I FOUND; BUT A WOMAN AMONG THOSE HAVE I NOT FOUND.
