30 percent? Wow that's unbelievable. so basically for 4 months of the year you're a slave to the government. If this is freedom, I think that it's time for a revolution.

Breaking: Senate Republicans blocked President Obama’s “Buffett Rule”, which would have closed the loopholes that allow corporate CEOs to pay a lower tax rate than the rest of us.

This is the culmination of everything the Koch Brothers have worked for, politically. They’ll destroy anything that resembles a fairer system. And they are the behind-the-scenes puppet masters orchestrating the GOP attempt to take back the White House and the Senate.

Again, do the research as to what our "public servants"
get with our tax money. They have medical and retirement packages the common person can only dream of.

And who works for who?

BS

We know someone that did that ten years ago and he is now serving time in a Federal Prison.

For those that say, you don't pay taxes, mess with the IRS and you're taking a big chance on imprisonment.

BS

I've been a self employed LLC for over 25 years with a very creative accountant and never even been audited.
I simply do what the intelligent and wealthy people do and avail myself of every deduction allowed to a business completely with in the law.

congratulaions, you're really smart..............any who.............you shouldn't have to be "creative" to keep what you have worked for.

So yeah my total taxes for this year were.............drumroll.........

Federal: zero
State: $7

Woot. I was able to write off a ton of stuff like stocks losses (yeah that sucks but it helps to write them off), student loan interest (100% deductible), margin interest to my broker, mileage i put on my car for business use... Of course I didn't make much. just under 16k as I didn't get full time work until end of August.

Actually we pay more this year than last year.

Obama just screw the working class this year, but the rich still get all their tax breakes.

one thing i've noticed from this thread is that some people have been conditioned to think that being taxed like we are is "ok" or "normal". if it is normal i'm certainly not ok with it. espcecially the way government spends our money. some of the happy responses with "hey i got a refund" strike me as odd. you still got the piss taxed out of you. i for one want better. i know we the people, can spend the money in better ways than the gov. does.

Yep, Paid more this year then any other year in my life.
Thought 0bama was the savior of the middle class and all.

Can't wait for next year, when the Bush tax cuts expire. Then I get to pay double what I paid this year.

Here is another eye opening way to look at taxes in the USofA:

Tax Freedom Day® 2012 arrives on April 17 this year, four days later than last year due to higher federal income and corporate tax collections. That means Americans will work 107 days into the year, from January 1 to April 17, to earn enough money to pay this year’s combined 29.2% federal, state, and local tax bill.

If you wanted a job and they said you had to work 107 days before you got a single paycheck you call them @#$ crazy right? But unfortunately in America the number of people not paying taxes and getting govt entitlements is almost even with those people who work to pay for those. It's all downhill from here.
