In response to the yahoo article.........

Independent analysts blame high gas prices on soaring demand in growing economies like China and India coupled with unrest in the Middle East—in particular, the tensions over Iran's suspect nuclear program—that fuel fears of potential future supply disruptions. They also say that there is virtually nothing a president can do in the short term to affect the price at the pump.

Exactly! China, russia, india, south korea, malaysia, taiwan are experiencing great market growth and the need for fuel makes the demand skyrocket. What can a president directly do about that? Not much.......

Then we have israel and iran calling each other names and threatning war for the last half of this decade.

Speculators will take advantage of the smallest detail to create profit for themselves. The system itself is at fault, not obama and not romney. It is like trying to unravel the gordion knot without taking into consideration the much wider consequences of unrestrained globalism.

Obama noted those factors and warned "there are no quick fixes to this problem" but said government must "work extra hard to protect consumers from factors that should not affect the price of a barrel of oil. That includes doing everything we can to ensure that an irresponsible few aren't able to hurt consumers by illegally manipulating or rigging energy markets for their own gain."

I guess there are some things that can be done in the short term that he highlighted, such as market manipulation, by going after fabricated news stories, and I would add breaking up the "too big to fail" companies.

Easier said than done when people with millions or billions make a living almost exclusively with insider trading knowledge. George Soros and the Koch Brothers seem like classic examples........

Not trolling lol. Having fun in debate is certainly not trolling. Trolling would be bringing nothing to the topic or not following the evolution of ideas to spread an opinion. I presented fact. Anyone who understands the markets and the presidency knows this but since people are not following along, they need to hear it from the horses mouth.

But to answer your question on oil......as a matter of fact Obama admits he was late to the party and the oil markets are out of control, and he takes responsibility for the fact he does have control of american energy policy.

Its right here:

news.yahoo.com...

The article you linked shows Obama asking for tougher laws on oil speculation...which is a huge factor in driving up oil prices. That's not something he just thought about now, the Democrats tried to pass laws against reckless speculation several times since Obama took office...the GOP destroyed those bills every single time

And yes, you are a troll...you just hide it by adding tiny bits of info. How else would you call it if you posted something you KNOW is wrong just before calling the person who points out your blunder a "troll"

I swear, I see it once and I'll be disgusted.

This election year I'm making a conscious decision to not vote. Unfortunately Dr. Paul, although putting up a great fight, will not win the Republican nomination.

Here's a quick summation: TPTB have decided that they will grant President Obama another four year term.
Romney, as rich and easily purchased as he is, will buy the Republican nomination. Dr. Paul, the only politician that should be POTUS, will be denied that privilege by TPTB, in lieu of keeping the American public on its knees and dependent on fossil fuels, balls deep in debt, record-high unemployment, and economic turmoil.

You and your "not going to vote" kind, are the problem.
Vote for Ron Paul or stay off the political threads in the future......you have surrendered your right to complain.
Anyone that doesn't vote loses their legitimacy to bitch.

Hahaha...right!

The American public surrendered it's right to anything years ago by voting for these idiots we call politicians. Do you really believe your vote counts anywhere? For anything? What bobble-head on television convinced you of that? Must be the American people voted for unchecked inflation, record-high employment, increasing taxes, and non-existentent manufacturing? Who voted for that? Whose political foolishness won your vote? The type of naive political dogma you support is robotic and mindless. Hell, believing your vote counts is robotic and mindless. You're the perfect constituent! Vote on dude! Keep filling their pockets while they squeeze yours!

Actually Res Ipsa is correct. People are making the assumption that all political parties are the same without even knowing how many political parties exist and what each stands for. Hint there are something like 50!

If you keep voting right wing, then you will get right wing! Vote left wing and you will put restraints on the bankers and industrial complex interests. How difficult can this be to understand??

Also just because you belong to a political party does not imply you have to believe everything they say. It is called the freedom to think for yourself which is a universal right. If they are preventing you from doing so then you need to switch party affiliation. And to put the final nail on the coffin of stupidty, just because chairman mao and joseph stalin were evil control freaks does not negate socialism and/or communism. Heck even karl marx got many things wrong!

If they are preventing you from doing so then you need to switch party affiliation.

At the end of the day, there are few differences between any of the dominant parties in the United States. Go ahead and believe that party affiliation solves anything in this country.

Romney does not have a chance. Honestly I think the Republicans knew they had no chance so they kept any decent candidate from running and instead sent out the B-team and saved the A-team for 2016. Romney was the least objectable of a very bad lot but, is anybody really excited to go out and vote for a guy who won his nomination because the people running against him were complete idiots and nutters?

Wow just Wow!
