Independent analysts blame high gas prices on soaring demand in growing economies like China and India coupled with unrest in the Middle East—in particular, the tensions over Iran's suspect nuclear program—that fuel fears of potential future supply disruptions. They also say that there is virtually nothing a president can do in the short term to affect the price at the pump.
Obama noted those factors and warned "there are no quick fixes to this problem" but said government must "work extra hard to protect consumers from factors that should not affect the price of a barrel of oil. That includes doing everything we can to ensure that an irresponsible few aren't able to hurt consumers by illegally manipulating or rigging energy markets for their own gain."

Not trolling lol. Having fun in debate is certainly not trolling. Trolling would be bringing nothing to the topic or not following the evolution of ideas to spread an opinion. I presented fact. Anyone who understands the markets and the presidency knows this but since people are not following along, they need to hear it from the horses mouth.
But to answer your question on oil......as a matter of fact Obama admits he was late to the party and the oil markets are out of control, and he takes responsibility for the fact he does have control of american energy policy.
Its right here:

I'm not even going to start, but if I see any of you Ron Paul supporters back Romeny, I'm leaving this site. It would be less hypocritical to support Obama or to not vote. I don't even have to explain myself because they're not MY values.
I swear, I see it once and I'll be disgusted.edit on 16-4-2012 by TheOneElectric because: (no reason given)
This election year I'm making a conscious decision to not vote. Unfortunately Dr. Paul, although putting up a great fight, will not win the Republican nomination.
Here's a quick summation: TPTB have decided that they will grant President Obama another four year term.
Romney, as rich and easily purchased as he is, will buy the Republican nomination. Dr. Paul, the only politician that should be POTUS, will be denied that privilege by TPTB, in lieu of keeping the American public on its knees and dependent on fossil fuels, balls deep in debt, record-high unemployment, and economic turmoil.
You and your "not going to vote" kind, are the problem.
Vote for Ron Paul or stay off the political threads in the future......you have surrendered your right to complain.
Anyone that doesn't vote loses their legitimacy to bitch.
If they are preventing you from doing so then you need to switch party affiliation.

Romney does not have a chance. Honestly I think the Republicans knew they had no chance so they kept any decent candidate from running and instead sent out the B-team and saved the A-team for 2016. Romney was the least objectable of a very bad lot but, is anybody really excited to go out and vote for a guy who won his nomination because the people running against him were complete idiots and nutters?
