Yes...because American Women are dumb and gullible? Good luck to Romney with that strategy...

"Women account for 92.3 percent of the jobs lost under Obama." (Mostly False)

Wait...so you come on here and post something that you KNOW is a lie, and you then call him a troll because he points out your nonsense?? You might wanna look int the mirror, because what you just did is the very definition of trolling

But keep on dreaming about a GOP victory...even if the numbers make it abundantly clear they can't win because of women/latino votes

ANYONE on ATS criticizing Obama looks mighty contradictory to get behind Romney.

They are basically the same.

Yeah but a good leader needs the team support of a party to make anything reality. Otherwise he would be preaching to a brick wall and obviously accomplish little or nothing.

What we have in Romney and Obama are 'herd' politicians, they speak in platitudes and appeal to the greater masses..the masses who understand the difference in menus at Mcdonalds and Burger king far better than they understand the problems that face our country.

Certainly agree here and that is because people have lost in interest in politics from lame duck liar politicians who obey capitalist-banker-masonic orders.

The establishment preys on those who have 'beliefs.' They know who you are, they know how they can manipulate you. The more rigid you are, the more they can control you. And if you think any kind of change is coming to the White House via this election, well it won't be a difference in Romney's or Obama's station in life...it will be yours, as you discover the changes in shifts at Mcdonalds and Burger King and how it affects what time you set your alarm.

If people really knew anything about politics, as they should, then the two major parties would not be so major afterall. It is the reason we have so many registered parties in america that people knowingly or unknowingly ignore.

Only falsehoods require belief.

Not necessarily; some beliefs are false and some are true.

Only objective proof can be definitive, versus subjective proof that can be interpretated anyway one pleases. Seperating objective from subjective can be a pain in the but......

The president doesn't set energy prices, in fact, he has very little control over them. And no, that Keystone pipeline wouldn't have resulted in a sustained drop in oil prices, just like production increase over the years hasn't resulted in lower prices.

Another hilarious thing I hear a ton: "We should drill more in Alaska so we have our own cheap oil!!"

As if oil prices are set locally

If oil sells at $105 a barrel it will sell for that in Indonesia, Russia, Brazil, and yes...the US too. Why on earth would an oil company sell its oil to US citizen for cheaper than what they could get on the global market???

What I find most comedic about the GOPs completely debunked claim that Obama is responsible for Gas prices is the fact that they are quick to scream about the "Free Markets" and "Capitalistic Freedom!!!" but when all of a sudden gas prices spike they slam Obama for not Socializing the energy industry???

Geez...Ask the Billionaire Koch Brothers why energy prices spike. They own the same GOP Pols that are complaining about it.

Even former Bush White House Chief Economist Douglas Holtz-Eakin discounted a president's impact on oil prices: "You can‘t change the oil price very much with the U.S. exploration."

Posters like shadowalker is why we're completely doomed. It is full of idiots. I mean he honestly believes the president controls the gas prices, why? Newt Gingrich told him so, lol.

There are people who believe the only thing wrong with the world is that Sarah Palin isn't being heard, TPTB cater to these idiots because they are the majority. Our country is lost and there is no way to get it back. We're #ed. We've got posters on here like Euriska who thinks Palin is actually smart, goes to show what kind of mess we're in. It's deep, very deep.

Moon colony Newt...still not giving up

The most hilarious thing? Romney says he wants to cot tons of departments...yet he refuses to say which ones. Why? Because he KNOWS it will be unpopular and would cost him votes. So instead, he's saying "I will screw over a ton of you, but won't tell who exactly...vote for me, after all, it might not hit you!". That's essentially his slogan

Anyway, I'm kinda enjoying the election ride, the Daily Shows and Colbert Reports sure have enough material to work with

Just playing with you folks a bit.

Does the president control energy prices? You bet he does. Both in the long as well as the short term.

One by releasing volumes from the strategic reserves he can soften the markets and drive prices down within hours.

Two by controlling new drilling he determines the full available amount of oil to the markets. Literaly changing who the money goes to. Much the same way he is controlling the heroin trade, which includes all of the legal tons of opium that land on Big Pharma's loading docks. Anyone that says there is not direct control of oil is a liar. Same for legal and illegal opiates.

But the trolls turn reality to shillywood every time.

The effect is minimal and short-lasted

Changing who the money goes to? How? The oil market is controlled by a handful of companies.
Sure, one could strip all environmental regulations and allow unabated drilling in the US. But of course, the oil companies dont want that, because they want to keep prices high. What is their incentive for more drilling? Very little. Not to mention destroying our environment so you can have cheap gas NOW while depleting US reserves in the long run is not a very sensible process.

Yes and no. If the president creates a healthy pro-oil enviroment with more drilling in the United States of America then it could have somewhat of an influence on the price of oil on the world markets, not just on the american market.

Remember oil, like other commodities, are traded on future contracts by speculators, which means there is lots of price manipulation going on based on current events both locally and throughout the world. If saudi arabia falls into civil war, or an iran-israel conflict breaks out, even if america is fully taking advantage of its oil reserves I think americans would still be ripped-off at the pump.

For this reason speculation is based much more on pscychology than actual supply-demand. Current events could be blown out-of-porportion or downplayed to create artificial lows and highs, aka stock market bubbles. Smart people buy when everyone sells and sell when everyone buys. Its wall street 101........

The only way to create realistic conditions of supply-demand is to ban speculation, break up companies that are "too big to fail" or at least closely regulate them and punish those that fabricate news for their own selfish agenda. Insider trading is still very common with the elite! Make commodities a one-to-one deal where those that trade must accept delivery of that commodity.

In other words, you're trolling. You do know that's against ATS's terms and conditions, right? You just openly admitted to trolling

Changes in federal interest rates have an increasingly small effect...it's one of the reasons QE3 didn't happen.

And an increase in output doesn't lead to a medium/long term decrease in prices as oil prices are set globally!

In short, no, the president has pretty much no effect on oil prices, and that's a FACT. Others have already provided proof of that above, and it's kinda ironic that you call them trolls.

Not trolling lol. Having fun in debate is certainly not trolling. Trolling would be bringing nothing to the topic or not following the evolution of ideas to spread an opinion. I presented fact. Anyone who understands the markets and the presidency knows this but since people are not following along, they need to hear it from the horses mouth.

But to answer your question on oil......as a matter of fact Obama admits he was late to the party and the oil markets are out of control, and he takes responsibility for the fact he does have control of american energy policy.

Its right here:
