Just found this very large list of contractors for the DoD. I figure it could be an interesting read for some.

The list includes the companies awarded a contract, and the specifics of what the contracts are for.

this was interesting ,, one of the BIG $$$$ purchases .....

Because of their distinctive barrel-shaped radome and their automated nature of operation, Phalanx CIWS units are sometimes nicknamed "R2-D2" after the famous droid from Star Wars, and in the Royal Navy as '"Daleks", after the aliens from Doctor Who..

Ok, I realize that these amounts of $$$s are over a period of time, but cmon! $1,413,953,836???? And that's just contracts awarded in ONE day! Take a look at the "related posts" at the bottom of the page...

And, WTH is the "Military Produce Group, L.L.C."??? (no, I haven't looked it up...)

and this: "The Goodrich Corp., Westford, Maine, is being awarded an $183,000,000 firm-fixed-price undefinitized contract action/letter contract to procure DB-110 pods, support equipment, and contractor logistic support for the Foreign Military Sales F-15 Modernization Program."

DB110 Pods

This is a tad bit ridiculous...

Yeah I thought the so-called "Military Produce" thing was a bit strange.
