Maybe these children are beginning to pick up the thoughts of others via evolution. Probably not very plausible but could explain hearing voices. Telepathy is a possibility but I think science will get us there first.

Spontaneous evolution is a real thing, but i think it's a little bit arrogant to rule out that 'telepathy' is an impossibility among humans. It might not be possible now, but over the past 200 years for example, we as a people haven't really physically changed much, but consciously, as a society, we are more aware. Who knows what could mean, we are a very young race.

I don't think anything is impossible, i guess it's just about timing though.
