What I don't like about a "Value Added Tax" is it's a whitewash over the citadel of 'book-cooking'.
Thie article in the URL below can give you an idea of what people would vote for we were educated about what's really happening with government financing.

Just vote for Ron Paul and forget all this bloated government BS and bank control. Take a lesson from Iceland and just fire these bureaucrats and bring them all up on corruption charges starting from the top. Bush blew up bldg 7 to keep records out of the SEC showing his and Cheney's dealings with Enron and other crooked dealings. The terrorists came from here first. Bush Sr. is responsible for Saddam and many others so why can't we charge them?

Ron Paul has no ties to any crooked dealings or the mass of crooked bankers and politicians that rule our world. He will certainly be murdered after he gets elected, but not before ruining the stranglehold currently in place. We are afraid of taking control back from these crooks. We are told we can't handle anything hard so we cower in the corner and take what they throw out happily

It's time for us to SEE with our eyes and THINK with whats left of our brains. We need to get rid of all the crooked leaders and take back control. It is far beyond greed anymore. These people will never be satisfied. They are flawed beyond repair and need to be weeded from the garden completely. In another time they would be hung in the town square. Now they have so much money and power we feel helpless to unseat them. Too big to fail is another way of saying too big to # with.

We have allowed them to gain the power they have. We have turned a blind eye to their illegal dealings and allowed them to prosper even when we knew they did it illegally. We are responsible for our problems. We need to realize this and take responsibility on our own shoulders. We need to hold them accountable and set the punishment. We need to fill up those FEMA camps with crooked politicians and bankers etc. Hold a mass trial and maybe do some mass graves like they did to the Jews.

You may find this harsh, but the punishment should fit the crime and crimes against humanity have always been handled in a severe manner, just look at Saddam and others who were ousted. Very public executions are the norm while the real crooks sit in their mansions in the US laughing at the carnage they caused so they could make a bigger profit. Their schemes will never stop because they can never be satisfied with what they have inherited or made through crooked dealings. They are flawed.

It is time for real change and not some artificial hollow ideology. We are human beings. Other human beings are manipulating events to keep a subservient society placated for their own amusement. They have ceased to be human so why treat them humanely? Cancer can only be gotten rid of through radical cutting. Sometimes you have to remove a lot of supporting tissue to get at the cancer.

There does not need to be a class, upper middle or lower. We have technology that would allow anyone to become whatever they can imagine. If a person is driven to become anything they should be encouraged to do so. If a person is not motivated to do anything, but physically capable they should be allowed to starve if they wish without help from those who are driven to survive. Nature has her own method of class warfare.

On the planet? Do you know how little people need to live on if they are not taxes into poverty and penned up in cities like livestock?
Suppose you have a hut, a (mule/pony/horse) a few chickens a herd of goats, access to a well and all the land you care to plant with non GMO seeds from last years crops.
No taxes because the tax man knows you don't have anything to tax.
You sell a goat a month for say 30$ us to buy whatever luxury you want you are making a dollar a day but you have less stress than the 72K (top 1%) earners.

Right about now I'd swap places with the goat herder.

People may say "it's only the wealthy who's being taxed more and more.

But eventually the government'll come after your money too.

The government will take more and more money and spend more and more.

They can't understand to stop spending money they don't have.

After all, the people who do this get penalized, but the government doesn't?

Why should the government, a government for and by the people, have such special privileges?

Who says there's no ruling aristocracy?

Well someone has got to pay for those wars that George started, they don't come for free ya know.

And the Medicare Prescription thingy, and the deregulation of the financial markets (Credit Default Swap anyone?), and in general the misguided policies of the Republican party.

Lets just just pay for their MISTAKES, deny them the right to fook it up again, and call it a decade.

I make $40k a year, and I endorse this message.

You mean those wars, and prescription thingy, and deregulation, and misguided policies that Obama perpetuates? I know right?!?!

Because leaving Iraq is a 'cut and run' tactic that Americans just don't do. We're also not allowed to apologize for our actions in Afghanistan, because we're America, damn it, we don't make mistakes. Dodd-Frank is just bad legislation, we don't need more regulations on Wall St., duh! The Consumer and Finance Protection Bureau is just more unneeded regulations, you need to wake up man. Regulation is destroying wealth in this country, can't you see it?

/sarcasm

Maybe the prescription thingy was a good idea...god forbid we actually try to pay for it though.

It's about damn time. Maybe after a few years of actual revenue the republicans can quit moaning about the deficit and the debt.

You have no clue about the economic state we are in. What the republicans are proposing is an absolute joke compared to what needs to be done. Perhaps you should actually look at the numbers instead of just assuming people talking about the deficit are over blowing its importance.

Even with these tax increases, we are talking about maybe getting rid of 15 - 20% max of the yearly deficit. We will still have a deficit of a trillion plus yearly. Add on to that medical costs have increased on average for 9% every year since 1980, and at that pace would eat up all taxable income by 2020. Also the interest rate we are paying on our 15 trillion debt is extremely low currently due to fed manipulation - but that has a limit. The market will force our interest rates higher just as they have done to the PIGS in Europe if our debt is not reduced soon.

A rise in our interest cost of only 4% or so would eat up all of this tax increase. That is not far fetched - that is basically the historical norm. Adding a trillion a year at only 5% interest is an additional 50 billion in interest expense. That would require a 2% tax increase to start with the first year, and a higher percentage every year after just to pay that interest on another trillion - and that assumes you can get people to pay that increase.

It probably is literally impossible to balance the budget with tax increases alone - because it would require nearly a 50% increase to do it currently. If it could be done it would be a year or two at most with disastrous results. The more you raise taxes the more you encourage tax avoidance - wealthy people and corporations will leave the country, or hide their income overseas. You also slow growth as people pay the government, not reinvest, or hire.

Just because our politicians are not screaming we are headed for disaster does not mean we aren't. They are the ones responsible for it - and we the citizens are the ones who will pay for it.

Letting just the 2001 & 2003 tax cuts expire would net about $500 billion. The deficit is about $1.1 trillion.

The answers to our debt and deficit aren't just cutting spending or raising taxes. They're a combination of both.

thank you for posting a realistic look at our immediate future...

i am up to my eyeballs sick of Øbama and all his slick crud...instigated by his room full of deluded planners/plotters

yeah, Bush & Clinton helped create the economic collapse of Main Street...including the Tax Cuts which helped foster all those get-rich schemes (house flippers/housing values as ATM cash...)
but... without the approval by bankers---none of that property values replacing 401K investing would have occurred...

Øbama & his health reform law.... i pray will be found unconstitutional by the SCOTUS...
that dead beat community-organizer is not any form of President in my eyes
and he don't give a hoot if increased Taxes put 50% of the middle class in abject poverty
and the other 50% into a food-stamp existence=== he got his life of luxury assured with President retirement and the Million Dollar Peace-Prize in his pocket & Laughs all the way to the bank...

The solution is Simple.

Just don't make enough each year to have to pay taxes. If you choose to play by their rules, you cannot complain. So at least the Middle Class has to save 2 thousand dollars per year for taxes.. Big Whoop. If you can handle Middle Class, you know this is coming and you make allowances for it. (Putting aside the fact that the IRS is an illegal institution)

The only people who get "hit" with these things are the people on the line that make just enough to get to the next boundary. There are many ways to actually make a good bit of money that you don't have to report each year. Research these and this will help give you a buffer zone.

There are also other quick ways anyone can make some extra income like by giving plasma. This helps the community and gets you quick cash. Find 3 of these quick money making deals a month and you will easily have enough to cover your taxes.

That's the secret they don't want the masses to know.. They can't tax carrots easily but they can take a chicken or a goat.
In the meantime, money that doesn't exist is taken from our pay packets every week.

And now to destroy any ideas you might have about last chance survival in England::
they have imposed a hosepipe ban.
You can blame the gov't for selling it all to private water companies who eventually sold off many of their reservoirs and storage tanks..

Because both sides of the ledger account for any budget, for years entire focus has

What everyone is missing here, is the thing they are rediscovering here in California.

At some point, increasing taxes, decreases revenue. Because people will take action to avoid the tax.

Truth is stranger than fiction.

The deficit number of 1.1 trillion is after the tax increases - not before them, and it is a projection.

By the way they projected a deficit of 1.3 trillion for 2011 - but it turned out to be 1.645 trillion in actuality. I project the tax increases will not bring in an additional 500 billion because the estimates are always overly optimistic, but even if I am wrong the deficit will still be over a trillion.

The plan is to take your property eventually. They will do this by raising your property taxes and then take your property when you cannot pay. There won't be any goats nor veggies.

These people are wicked but they are not stupid. They are smarter than you (and I) will ever be.....you are toast in this world's material things. They will own it all. See Agenda 21, etc. etc. WW3 is coming to distract from the economy too.....there is nothing new under the sun.

There is only one way out..........Jesus Christ:

The more they do to anger the people the less trust will be given to the system. People will begin leaving the country at massive rate. I have been considering leaving for a while now.

That is the problem here in Ca. Of course leaving the country is a little more complicated than leaving the state. But people who have the means (all the money) are the ones who will leave.

Belize is said to be nice.

The short term reduced rate special has simply come to an end, that is all.

Americans still pay some of the

lowest taxes in the Western World, and have some of the cheapest gas prices.

Quit whining. You don't like it? Take a look at what we pay in Canada or what they're paying in the UK, for both taxes and gasoline.

Is it our fault Canada already has socialist health care and high taxes and gas? Why should we want that as well? I will darn tootin protest and complain.
