Every Pakistani student wanting to come to Britain will face tough new tests after a pilot scheme found that as many as four in ten applicants may be bogus.

Home Office figures have revealed that thousands of student visa applicants cannot speak English, despite claiming they want to study here.

Currently, if paper applications raise suspicions, applicants may be interviewed in their home country. Of these, around 20 per cent are rejected.

But a recent pilot scheme in which every applicant was required to have a face-to-face interview found that up to 43 per cent should be rejected. A senior Whitehall source said that by far the biggest reason for them being turned down was poor English language skills.

Home Secretary Theresa May is taking a hardline as Home Office figures have revealed that thousands of student visa applicants cannot speak English, despite claiming they want to study here

The pilots have now been extended to other 14 other countries including India, China, Bangladesh, Egypt, Sri Lanka and Nigeria.

Daily Mail

Considering that it has been estimated by the London School of Economics that the UK has around 1 million illegal immigrants (Daily Mail) and that the UK already has 7 million immigrants (The Telegraph) this move can only be welcomed.

What the UK doesn't need is more illegal immigrants from Pakistan, India, China, Bangladesh, Egypt, Sri Lanka and Nigeria who can't even speak English.

What about the legal ones from Europe who can't speak English? This country is too soft on immigration.7million immigrants according to the telegraph..... This island is only so big, were going to run out of space soon. There's also no jobs here and uni costs are ott too now so why would people want to study on this country unless they were Uber rich?

Apparently, 593,000 people came into the country in the year to June 2011 and the 343,000 left the country to live abroad for more than 12 months.

The Guardian

In other words, large numbers of skilled British people are leaving every year while even larger numbers of, largely unskilled, immigrants arrive.

How is that sustainable?

You have to wonder how many of them are Islamic foot soldiers. There are too many people living in Brittan with the singular intention of undermining it already. You don't need to risk allowing more of them into the country.

Apparently, the top immigration groups are

India 11.9%
Pakistan 5.8%
Poland (5.4%)
Australia (5.2%)
China (5.2%)

Most people who leave the UK go to Australia then the USA

The Guardian

How many of these India and Pakistan immigrants are highly skilled people who are not a drain on the UK taxpayer?

Not nearly many enough I suspect.

I`ll bet just like here in the states the women of these groups are constantly pregnant, one after the other. They`re basically baby factors poping out anchor babies because they get checks in the mail from our gov. for each child they have. Because they have such large families they EXPECT the charity organizations to take care of them by giving them food, clothing, etc. Its almost as if they are trying to increase their numbers to a point where they breed everyone else out. Odd thing when you have all these other non-christians forming a line around the block at some christain churches to recieve handouts.

This organization Catholic Charities brings entire villages and helps them get temp visas and new cars/phones/video game systems you name it. They engulf apartment complexes and turn a once beautiful heighbor hood into a third world country almost over night. Why cant they help out the people here instead of bringing more lazy dependants that are only good for popping out more kids and holding their hands out.

How can you have 9 kids barley a year apart and live in a 3 bedroom apt and think thats ok?

The UK has a tp heavy aging population. If it was not for immigrants coming in the country would die.. The UK needs low waged workers to do the jobs that no one else will do..

Can't do much about EU migration without leaving the EU....

Besides, many EU citizens can speak English..

Hardly. The population growth amongst "indigineous" parents is enough to sustain a healthy population growth after, briefly, suffering a bit of a stutter.

An ageing population can be easily taken care of with better planning from those still working. Far to many go through their working life and don't consider a pension until their 40's when it's too late to accrue a decent one and then rely on the meagre state pension.. I have had one gathering funds since I was 21!

And this whole addage about them doing "jobs that no one else will do" is bollocks, but rather a line sold to make us feel good about letting them in. There are plenty out there who will do those jobs but cannot because employers simply won't take them on, knowing they can can get a better rate of return out of an illegal who won't complain about doing 60 hours a week for £40.

This bloody country and immigration levels are driving me up the wall!

We all know more than half the immigrant can't speak English! Let alone be any good to the economy

There's absolutly zero jobs, and zero houses! For English white folk anyway!

I've been registered as homeless for 5 years and haven't heard a diccy bird of being offerd a one room flat.
Don't worry, I have awesome friends that keep me off the street, for a bit of keep each week, I'm lucky as my old company have just asked me to return to work, after being jobless for 5 weeks.

I applied for a job last week in a new asian resturant that needed bar staff, which is currently my undesired proffesion, the gaffa, who could barely talk english turned me down, and I have a feeling its because I'm the wrong colour

I watched a documentary on channel 4 the other month abowt a guy that was determined to make a government fund, of £4,000 for any person who wishes to take on one of the 350,000 houses/flats registered as derelict/abandoned, so they could be renovated and lived in instead of building new houses. He managed to take it to the top and get it up and running. I was so chuffed with him. Through out the programme, he renovated a 5 bed house on that budget to move a family in immediatly.

Do u wana know who moved in?

A family of 13 pakistanis!!

I almost lost the will to live!

Riddle me this: have u ever seen a homeless immigrant (not white)?

Because I haven't!

The UK needs to encourage British people to have more children at a younger age.

Isn't that a better idea than importing unskilled people from the third world?

Been there mate....

Some years back I was in the council offices trying to negotiate some sort of let up on the huge tax bill they levied me. As I was a young, single, white male, nope, nothing. I paid it though, I always do.

Next to me at the other desk was a Bangladeshi woman with several kids. No English, got an interpretor and despite obviously being "fresh off the boat", they couldn't have worked harder for he so she had somewhere to live and money in her pocket...

What right do they have to come here, fleece our systems meant for our own citizens and then undermine employment laws meant to protect our citizens from being exploited by working for a pittance? I would not expect any other country to house me, feed me or look after my kids if I moved somewhere... I would expect to earn my keep, pay my way and after a time, become a citizen to enjoy those benefits...

Quite simply, you are expected to pay tax through the nose to provide the Bangladeshi immigrant with a standard of living she could only dream of back in her home country.

Interestingly, by law, every council also have to keep a certain number of homes open for people claiming political asylum. They of course go to the head of the queue.

About 20,000-25,000 asylum seekers arrive in the UK every year.

So in last decade, a huge number of council houses have been given to asylum seekers. It's a disgrace.

We should encourage English girls to have kids younger?!?!

Although that may be the way to ensure we aren't the minority by 2066 (as predicted) that really isn't the way forward

I'm nearly 21 and I can honestly say 75% of the girls in my school year have children and a 1 bed flat, some had them in school, others just after, others right now, the only people who haven't are the ones in university, honestly I only have 2 friends left that don't have the full package.

Every now then, I really consider getting up the duff just to get somewhere to live and live on benefits because they are all better off than me.

I wouldn't do that, because one: I'm ten years off being ready to raise a child, 2: ill get stuck in the habbit of remaining that way. 3: I want to work, live, study and travel, and 4: a kid shouldn't raise a kid!!

But seriously I've done nuffin but work since I left school, and I still can't afford to drive, rent a place, holiday, or generally life life the way I intended.

I won't give up though, hopefully I can break through one day, the problem is there's many things to be fixed within our system and the international system as a whole, it could be decades untill progress is made, I mean in an ideal world I would love to say everyone could live where they want, everyone is free, but its not like I could just up and leave to live in the lovely sun in the middle east or Asia.

In the past, people got married young, had children young and the mother stayed at home and looked after the kids.

I am in no way advocating young girls becoming single mums.

Maybe some more encouragement of tradtional families wouldn't go amiss in the UK?

When you do encourage "traditional" families, you're accused of being sexist, misogynist or old fashioned.

My missus is a good example of such thinking. On the one hand, there are jobs which are "man" jobs, such as building furniture, changing bulbs, general maintainence etc, which is fine as she sucks at doing them anyway, but should I dare suggest that there are "women" jobs, oh man, run for the hills....

Yea us women get annoyed at you "traditional" thinkers because you are still stuck in a time warp, like it or not.

I personally worked on a construction site for 6 months, a landfill for 3 months and done landscaping for 3 months.
I can paint and decorate, am rather good at carpentry and electrics, done ameture kickboxing and boxing for 2 years, I've also been an admin worker, receptionist and a bar maid, I'm more handy than 90% of blokes I know, and still have a awesome figure and look rather awesome in my little black dress.

I've already determined that when I have a child, ill be the bread winner with a domesticated partner looking after the kids. Because quite frankly kids drive me mad.

Move with the times gentlemen

Oh, don't get me wrong, I am 100% all for total equality. I was just pointing out that some rather like the benefits of equality, but at the same time still like to have a "sexist" attitude such as I illustrated, usually if they don't fancy doing something...

In fact, I am so for equality I even advocate mixed sex professional football. I see no reason why women cannot play with men, if they have the skill, as it's not really a contact sport where men have a physical advantage. Even then, I've seen a game or two of Rugby with Men vs Women teams and the women teams can handle themselves well enough!!

Anyhoo, straying a tad off topic here

One of the reasons why the UK government is encouraging immigration is because British women are not having enough children.

There is nothing wrong with women having the same equality of opportunies as men.

The problem is, someone has to have children and only women can do it.
