It seems to me that whenever I go into a store like Wall Mart or Radio Shack, they never sell mouse (for computers) that have the roller ball in them anymore. All I ever see are either wireless with a laser for movement, or a cord with a laser for movement without the roller ball.

So, have any of you noticed this?

Is mouse with a roller ball obsolete and never being sold anymore?

Very eye-catching thread title! Yes, seeing as even I have had the laser mouse for quite a while, I'd say "Mouse Balls" are obsolete, except on the living variety! Much better, since you don't have to worry about that ball getting gunked up from all the grime on your mousepad.

I think people got tired of cleaning their mouse's balls once or twice a month, so they abandoned them and move on to a neutered mouse.

its because they require more maintenance, whereas the laser mouse dont really need any. Mouse balls drive me crazy and they brake much easier.

Yes. This thread has some real comic-relief potential amidst all this doom and gloom. What use is a one-balled mouse anyway?

(You should see rat balls. Well, not saying you should, but rat fanciers like me, we have to get used to it!)

Man I haven't used a mouse with a ball for probably close to 10 years...

A lot of people feel funny handling the balls.

But then again they do need a lot of attention.

I supposed it all depends on the balls, and the handler.

OFF TOPIC POST!

I've got a Curt 5-string fretless that looks a bit like that Warwick in your avatar, but it lives under the bed. I prefer my Charvell, because I am addicted to the unique neck shape! I only play my bass when my brother comes around, unless I get really drunk! I used to play hours a day, and am probably as good as I ever will be, which is pretty good, but not really good; that is, nothing fancy!

Not without a wheelbarrow, anyway.

I remember in college people would always take them out during class.
I guess thats why they switched to lasers, that and the fur build up.

Yes, probably better not to take your furry balls out during class.

I'm upper, upper class high society
God's gift to ballroom notoriety
And I always fill my ballroom
The event is never small
the social papers say I've got the biggest balls of all

CHORUS
I've got big balls
I've got big balls
And they're such big balls
fancy big balls
And he's got big balls,
And she's got big balls,
But we've got the biggest balls of them all!

And my balls are always bouncing
My ballroom always full
And everybody comes and comes again
If your name is on the guest list
[ From: www.metrolyrics.com... ]

No one can take you higher
Everybody says I've got great balls of fire!

CHORUS

Some balls are held for charity
And some for fancy dress
But when they're held for pleasure,
They're the balls that I like best.
And my balls are always bouncing,
To the left and to the right.
It's my belief that my big balls should be held every night.

CHORUS

And I'm just itching to tell you about them
Oh, we have such wonderful fun
Seafood cocktail
Crabs
Crayfish

Mouse balls are obsolete. Mice don't have the balls anymore.

Personally, I use a trackball, and have for years. It only takes two fingers and a thumb now.

No more of that strenuous wrist action, no need for a pad, and no more dirty mess to clean up.

Trackballs are more ergonomically designed. Better for you, and much more responsive.

I have a really hard time using a trackball. I'm probably not the only one.

Was it that you came up with a clever title for your headline and worked up a question to seemingly make it work?
Just askin....
Kenningson did make a "mouse" with a roller ball moved by the thumb. I still have one on my old Dell but anyone that tried to use it quickly hated it.
