Just reporting on Fox... no link yet, will provide it ASAP.

Talk about interception with a Patriot missile....

~Namaste

ETA: Confirmation that the rocket has in fact been launched by North Korea. No confirmation from the North yet. In direct opposition to Russia, who requested that North Korea "stand down".

ETA: Now on the front page of Fox - www.foxnews.com... - and confirmed by U.S.

Yup, I just got an alert on my iPhone AP/Drudge Report apps that North Korea has launched a rocket.

Now I have not been following current events lately so my question is whats the big deal? Is this just a test rocket and where is it going?

From Drudge/Reuters
uk.reuters.com...

(Reuters) - North Korea on Friday launched its ballistic rocket carrying a weather satellite, South Korea's YTN television reported, without citing sources.

The South's Yonhap news agency also reported the launch.

The launch has drawn international criticism due to concerns it could further the reclusive state's ability to deliver a nuclear warhead.

No further details or pictures were available to confirm the report.

Not sure where it's heading... probably somewhere over the Pacific.

It's a big deal because they just agreed NOT to do this, and Russia asked them not to as well as the U.S.

It's like advertising to terrorists that there is a place to buy inter-continental ballistic missiles.

You're probably right... the hope is that it burns up or falls apart.

This doesn't worry me at all, and terrorists (and the brown Muslim people aren't the only terrorists in this world) have all the weapons and $$ they'll ever need with or without North Korea.

So, if this thing falls apart or burns up, what should the response be from the international community?

I'm curious what other people think the reaction should be, especially considering that the leader of North Korea is a complete mystery and we have no idea what is to follow.

Obviously, his daddy taught him well.

Perhaps, but I definitely think they are attempting to test whether or not they can carry a warhead.

If they have intercontinental ballistic missiles, that would be bad.

The most interesting thing about all this is that the US says that Iran is not allowed to have nukes but then they let NK have them and even launch something that could be a nuke.

I bet Iran is laughing their heads off right now as they realize that the US is ALL talk and their free to do as they want.

that's a handy app.

at the very least you'll get a 5 min window to contemplate your mortality and the existence of God, when you get an alert that 1500 icbm's have been launched directly at the united states.

that's why bug out bags make me laugh. hows a flash light and mre's going to help you.
