MoD inquiry into mysterious bang

The Ministry of Defence is investigating reports of a loud bang that has been heard across a large part of England.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service also said they were looking into what caused the mysterious noise heard at about 18:10 BST.

Reports have come from across the West Midlands, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire.

One Coventry resident said his house shook. "I thought somebody had thrown a brick through the window," he said.

Sounds a bit like a sonic boom to me, please keep us updated.

People on Twitter claiming the ministry of defense say it was a quick reaction force Typhoon aircraft.

So why was one little sonic boom heard across such a wide area?

I live in east yorkshire, i heard some jets go over head, not sure what the time was maybe 5pm BST around.
I didn't bother to have a look though which way they where heading. All abit strange though!!.

Just heard on BBC 5 Live Radio, that the MOD are saying it was " A false security alert".

Just to let folks that this capability is there.
