Freak hail storm, what the heck kills 3? brought down power lines?

Again more freaky weird weather, but if you ask some atsers this has happended before , and its just a normal cycle.

I disagree and yes its another weather thread brought to your attention by me.

The deaths on Tuesday and Wednesday were in eastern Jiangxi province, where 900 homes were damaged.

Ive seen hail storms before in the US, but nothing like this. Just wow.

Anyway let me know your thoughts.

Although out of the ordinary, deaths from hail has occurred. My guess is people who need to be out in a storm, are without shelter etc. are effected.

I just did a quick search and here are some results:
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Xinhua News Agency April 4, 2007 - Hailstorm Death Toll in S. China Rises to 14

www.china.org.cn...
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Good information here.

starryskies.com...

The deadliest hailstorm on record occurred April 30, 1888 in India where 246 people perished! In the Sichuqan Province of China in 1986 over one hundred people were killed in a hailstorm. Some of the individual hailstones weighed over two pounds.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: I only do a quick search and post the links. I try and pick credible sources, but usually do not trace the site links or other pages.

Could you believe grapefruit sized hail?

I just checked on it and found info on the 1979 Colorado hailstorm. If we had one of those these days with hail the size of grapefruits...

en.wikipedia.org...

A violent forty-minute hailstorm bombed Fort Collins, CO, with hail up to grapefruit size.

Mother Nature is amazing. When i was a kid i saw lightening strike around 20 feet in front of me. It sounded like a quarter stick of dynamite when it struck the pavement. I was looking right at the spot when it hit.
