This is from the Constitution of the Communist Party USA:

Founded in Chicago in 1919, the Communist Party of the United States has an outstanding history in the struggles for peace, democratic rights, racial and gender equality, economic justice, union organization, and international solidarity.

While that constitution makes no reference of civil liberties, it does speak to civil rights:

Section 3...It shall be the obligation of all Party members to struggle against homophobia and all manifestations of discrimination against gays, lesbians, bisexual and transgender people, and to fight for their full social and civil rights.

....

SECTION 6. All Party members working in coalitions and mass organizations (such as labor unions, farm, community, civil rights, fraternal, religious, etc.) shall promote and strengthen the unity and leading role of the working class, and fight for the broadest possible unity of the working class and its allies, in the course of fighting for their needs

While their site makes no mention of global peace and security, and does not use the phrase "environmental protection", here is what they do state:

The living standards of workers and the natural environment on which life depends are under constant attack due to the drive for maximum profits inherent in capitalism. Our party fights for jobs and economic security, a decent and rising standard of living, peace, justice, equality, a sustainable environment, gay rights, health care, education, affordable housing, the needs of seniors, democracy, and a fulfilling life for everyone, with socialism as our goal. Only through the abolition of the capitalist system and the socialist reorganization of society can exploitation of human beings by others, and the evils of oppression, war, racism, environmental degradation, and poverty be ended. We seek to build a socialist society which puts people and nature before profits.

Here is the problem with this language regardless of who is using it and by what name they go by: Economic justice is just another word for legal plunder. Civil rights are legal rights which means they are rights granted by government and what can granted legally can be legally taken away.

I actually have no problem with the language of promoting global peace and security (although I find security to be far more illusory than its polar opposite which is power) and I have no problem with the language of environmental protection or environmental degradation, but do recognize that certain ideologues are using this phrase quite a bit to justify taxation.

McCarthyism is alive and well, thanks for setting us back to the 1950's Mr. West.

We knew the GOP had nothing to run on except FEAR MONGERING and this only proves it.

I think what is more "alive and well" is this:

If there was a communist under every House bed, and Mr. West knew about it, why did he wait so long to say it? 80 House offices have massive paintings of Karl Marx and Lenin in their lobbies and in the member's offices, is that what he's saying.

The economy is the best its ever been !

The housing market is superb !

Prices in general are great !

The entire population is happy !

More people are working than ever before !

99% have a lot of money saved !

Fascism is at its lowest level in history !

Homelessness is at record lows !

Crime is at the lowest level since the year zero !

The U.S. Congress (especially the 111th during the 2009/2010 session) has done all they can do for the majority of American citizens !
