Obama White House pays women less than men, records show
BY: Andrew Stiles - April 11, 2012 2:52 pm -- The Washington Free Beacon

The White House website released a list of employees and their salaries and positions for 2011.

It seems the women are getting paid less according to averages.

The article cites however that the calculations were made by "names" and associated gender.

The story does not mention whether or not higher paying positions now held by men would have women in those positions if qualified at the time of application and hire. Could be just a coincidence.

Female employees in the Obama White House make considerably less than their male colleagues, records show.

According to the 2011 annual report on White House staff, female employees earned a median annual salary of $60,000, which was about 18 percent less than the median salary for male employees ($71,000).

Calculating the median salary for each gender required some assumptions to be made based on the employee names. When unclear, every effort was taken to determine the appropriate gender.

Hope and Change..... That motto is tired and needing a serious retread. I have a better one for the new term.

'Do as I say and you're only imagining what you think I do'

Aren't the politicians in control all about equality and absolute, down the line and to the point of physical pain...EVEN pay for everyone, with no consideration for anything..EVER...Period? Ahh.....until it gets into the Big House with the Big House staff...Ahh yes, now we see how equality means so much. Why, it means EVERYTHING when it's everyone ELSE that needs to be equal, huh?

Just more do as I say not as I do from Obama. Just like his election campaign staff in his Chicago Office (Obama's home town). Apparently the office is heavily stocked with too much white bread in the pantry and not enough wheat bread these days. Quite interesting. I just hope enough people can see through his BS to see the Obama contradiction, the word play and the hypocrisy.

Someone also needs to ask Obama why he has a history of not letting women into his private golf league.

It's not like Obama is the one setting the salaries.

LOL... I love it.... Everything Obama does is someone else fault. Nothing the man does..ever...EVER...is his. I wonder, if he stood on LIVE TV for the world to see and shot someone right in full color..would that be his fault or can Bush be blamed? Oh I know I know..... Fluoride in the water from the Bush programs caused it! Yeah!

Now of course Obama doesn't sit down with the pay specs for every staffer under his direct command in the White House. I doubt he even knows the figures himself. Why would he? However...he absolutely *DOES* set policy for EVERYONE else to follow and those who don't, don't stay. It's that simple.

So.....The atmosphere where things like pay differences are felt to be okay to those that ARE making paygrade decisions *IS* entirely within and ONLY within the pervue of the President himself. As Truman showed by desegregating the entire Military at a time in our nation when that was like saying the Earth was flat again, the President *IS* the final power and the ONLY word in the executive branch.

If something if broken...Obama didn't necessarily break it. If it STAYS broken, he absolutely has decided to leave it that way or by making no decision, has decided to ignore it. THAT much IS true and why "The Buck Stops Here" ought to be perm. imprinted into that Desk.

Salary information only makes sense if you compare like for like jobs.

Getting an average of every single employee tells you nothing about fair pay.

Women, in general, require more healthcare over the span of their lives then men do.

Obama is just taking more for his healthcare law.

And yet NO WHERE did the report specify the positions of these folks?

Do you not think that actual Job Title and Responsibilities play a role in determining pay????

For example"
Christina Tchen, Assistant to Chief of Staff...$172,200
Eugene Sperling, Assitant to the President.....$172,200

Dana Sininger, Special Assistant...$130,500
Edward Siskel, Special Assistant..$130,500

All day long...no disparity...now simply average the pay in your own company of women and men without regard to title and see what you get.

For God's sake...it's like being GOP turns off peoples brains...Your JOB TITLE and RESPONSIBILITIES effect pay.

Averaging salaries of the men and then averaging the salries of the women, while not comparing thier actual JOBS is just inane, but alas what else should I expect.

You are appealing to basic logic and rational thought....good luck with that.

Science, Math, Finance and now Statistics are just "Socialism" by another name.

Thinking is for commies.

That's kind of what I was eluding to.

That's kind of what I was eluding to also.

The list on the White House link has all the positions listed.
It was linked in the article in the body of text.

The link is at the bottom of the OP.

Hope and change are still aive in the Obama White House.

I HOPE she has dinner ready!
She should change the tablecloth. (I spilled gravy)

Kidding.

In the year 2012 we're still having the debate about the glass ceiling?

Signing the NDAA act was his fault. He signed it.

Salaries in the white house is not his fault. It's not his job, he has nothing to do with it. Plus from the article it seems they're comparing unlike job salaries, which isn't even accurate.

I really do love the hypocritical left yet another example in a long list.

I'm neither left or right so generalize harder. Nor am I an Obama supporter.

I just hate faulty accusations/arguments. Obama has nothing to do with job salaries and comparing unlike positions is not even accurate. I have the ability to look beyond political labels before I draw a conclusion.

Whatever the simple fact that Government employees pay has increased under Obama where many make more than their civilian counterparts.

Obama can raise or freeze federal pay easily, after all thought he was all about a fair shake fair play fair crap.

Sorry not really they mean everyone else but federal female workers,.

Well again, how they got set may not have been something he had anything whatever to do and I'm sure it isn't. KEEPING THEM set there after he's been made aware of it is 100% and totally within his power and decision making.

Presidents earn the credit AND the blame. We can't go one direction and not the other. We just can't. OUTSIDE the Executive Branch, Obama is but a cog in the machine. INSIDE the Executive Branch, his rule is law and he is, for all intents, a King. He's just a King with that limit for area he can wield in questioned power. Every President is the same in that way.....and acting like he isn't is disingenuous.

If Obama sat down tonight and said things were going to change within the White House pay structure, then by goodness change would come. Just as it has when Presidents have given everyone a raise and claimed credit. They earned the credit........but so to, goes the blame when a problem is left unfixed.
