Based on the potential of a tsunami being generated, and so far there is no info to confirm there was one other than historical data, here is a list of times to destinations for a wave generated near where this quake was:

ESTIMATED INITIAL TSUNAMI WAVE ARRIVAL TIMES AT FORECAST POINTS
WITHIN THE WARNING AND WATCH AREAS ARE GIVEN BELOW. ACTUAL
ARRIVAL TIMES MAY DIFFER AND THE INITIAL WAVE MAY NOT BE THE
LARGEST. A TSUNAMI IS A SERIES OF WAVES AND THE TIME BETWEEN
SUCCESSIVE WAVES CAN BE FIVE MINUTES TO ONE HOUR.

Then please take caps off.

Just go grab some popcorn and watch the pros. Certain members really know their stuff about earthquakes, so I just listen to them. I would recommend trying the same.

Looks like everything is good right now but remember that tsunamies can come in several waves. So dont let your guard down to quick,

But so far looking like they may have been pretty lucky, These area are used to larger quakes and this one being quite deep is a positive factor,.

I figured that was the case and why the ATS Trending has a spot on one of my monitors, almost like an oversized widget. Heck with CNN...I'm watching CNNHN at the moment and they've barely mentioned this. ATS is quite literally, right at the moment, a more effective source of news and information than either Fox OR CNN HN.

OK, you may of course differ, but can you tell me in what way that shows water movement, purely from a scientific curiousity view in case kennvideo gets all upset and starts shouting again.

Here is one of the one I looked at

The problem is that this station is some distance from the event, yet is showing the spike only just after the time of the event.

You can see the detail better on this page.

I make that station something like 3000 km from the event so I don't believe the water can have got there in that time which is why I maintain this is shock, most probably to the transmission.

Of course I may be wrong so I would like to hear your reasoning on the matter.

I agree that ATS has news before most sources. I just couldn't imagine someone logging into ATS after they just went through a major earthquake. I know personally ATS would be the last thing I think of.
