Maybe this will blow all the 188 day theories out of the water!
This is indeed significant. And so far it does look like lateral movement. But something of this size can still produce a tsunami whether horizontal or thrust movement. And a decent one at that. I just woke up, and I'm starting a look for cameras now.

They have issued Tsunami warnings in other countries including the UK , but they are saying that it is just a precautionary measure.

Here is some of the info that is coming in from the National Data Buoy Center

National Data Buoy Center

Please dont confuse this with the England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland United Kingdom located in the Atlantic.. It would be some wave to make it that far

If there's a tsunami it would be hitting land right about now...

There! Just depends on what sorta movement occured at the sea bed. We should be finding out in the next ten mins I estimate

I doubt this did anything to the earth's axis. It was 4 times at least weaker than the 2004 event.

If as someone else commented this was lateral event then if will not have has a great effect. Folks should calm down and look at the data instead of throwing out unscientific supposition.

Sorry I did not make myself clear. What was the basis for you saying that THIS event would produce a massive tsunami.

I just want to correct you on that.
The tsunami warning list mentioned "UK", but it was short for the island of Diego Garcia, which is UK owned, and is part of the Chagos chain, as are the Maldives Islands, Indian Ocean.

Okay, the water column reports are interesting but how can I take that seriously? It's showing "event" activity off the Kamchatka Peninsula. Tsunami's are fast and widely felt but... umm.. Looks like another display with a bit of a learning curve to what normal looks like. Hmm..

Oh and just for fun, my cable company decided this would be the right time for an EBS test. 5am local...and about time to wake people up with those infernal tones. Sheesh... Good morning to everyone that wakes up and oh, welcome to another 8+ quake.

I didnt say massive, I said big. And because it has the potential to produce a big tsunami.

I am pretty sure that they have probably included the UK in that list due to the fact that the UK is still control of Diego Garcia Atol.

I have just been looking up which islands are still operated by the MOD or the UK

Earth axis probably moved a lot with this one

the earthquakes are getting stronger and more frequent

This in no way means the earths axis moved.........especially "alot"

Please dont try to add to peoples fear, the event is already scary enough as it is

please save the off base claims and speculation until data is recieved
