Honestly, the closest thing we have to the Nazi Party is the Tea Party. There is no difference whatsoever. The rise of Nazism demanded a reestablished government to represent their great country of Germany. The TP fanatics want the same when it comes to methods of doing such a thing.

I'm too tired to go into more details but if you don't see the resemblance than you really need to open your eyes.

Ya I bet you are too tired to "go into more details" of your typical liberal fascism.

Oh, wait, you didn't go into ANY details. You just spewed the same liberal propaganda one can find anywhere on the net.

Liberal thugs consistently engage in the same fascist tactics as the "Nazi Party." Any level of violence or intimidation is a.o.k. with liberals so long as a conservative stalwart is the target.

The Tea Party is absolutely peaceful and rational. All-inclusive and welcoming. How does that resemble the Nazi Party?

If all you have is "the Tea Party wants a re-established government" than your argument is absolutely nothing. Didn't Obama say he wants to remake the government? To remake America?

Not funny. You're just wrong.

The State of Israel was well on its way to establishment by 1917 andthe Balfour Declaration.

I guess this is the part when you tell me I'm spreading Zionist propaganda, which seems to be a popular pastime here on ATS, where ignorance thrives.

The reparations Germany was forced to pay did not come from nowhere.

Germany attempted to bolster its wealth and power by taking that which it did not own.

It caused the opposition from several countries and Germany was crushed by the military superiority of that opposition.

The victor countries demanded reparation to pay for their losses in defending their territory.

Germany was NOT the poor little oppressed country in all this. The sweep of history was larger than the little window of time you mention.

What? I thought it all started with Franz Ferdinand. Im not sure you even have a window. More like a confused blink. And Austria and Hungary asked for Germany to help them if they needed help. The whole thing seems pretty complicated. I dont think its as simple as mean old Germany deciding to invade its nieghbours.

edit on 10-4-2012 by Germanicus because: (no reason given)

Bismarck & Von Schlieffen's designs primarily on Russian, but also on French territories, were the impetus to the First World War, far earlier than the excuse of supporting Austria after the assassination of Franz Ferdinand.

They desired the territories and planned the military strategies through which they could be acquired. The assassination was merely the trigger that fired the round.

This is correct...

Hitler's war machine in the 30's would have imploded without invasions and acquisition of materials and the stealing and looting of wealth....

I mean really....

Its black and white...

Without ww2 Germany, would have imploded...

Plenty of research on this college essays, hell High school essays etc. etc.

Anyhow decent thread anyway to get me to remember knowledge I forgot..

So you want a two class system under a de facto Dictator, eh? What if your not allowed in the privileged class?

Pick up some more history and continue your studies. It always ends the same way, with an elite, privileged class and a poor subservient class.

I've known and spoken with members of the subservient class in Germany who lived during those same years. Sadly they have all died off now and are not here to fill in the real history of what it was like and to dispute those peddling the false history.

Only the elite experienced the prosperity you point out as they literally stole businesses and the system in preparation for an attempt to rule the world and engage in genocide and eugenics. Even the German citizens were for the most part slaves. With slave labor you can do remarkable things to the economic system.

Of course the elite and the wanna-be's will tell a different, false version of what happened.

Do you envision yourself a part of the elite class and one of those lucky few who live in wealth and luxury, or one of the working class just barely surviving on handouts?

A very general reminder....

None of the tangents presented here are entirely without point as they are branches of the topic itself.

But please... especially if you are addressing a specific poster, do not put words into people's mouths. Explain that you liken what they say to something, but lose the 'personal attack' references.

Also, while I disagree with something someone may have stated, it may not be because I am a fascist or a liberal, or whatever labels you are inclined to throw around. It may be because I don't know something you do... just tell me... don't punish my ignorance... enlighten it.... it's better that way.

Now willful ignorance is another matter entirely. At that juncture.... speak to the topic - NOT the poster...

(Just trying to keep the waves down... so far this thread has not been an abomination as most would have thought... you all should be rather proud of that... IMHO)

Im not saying that National Socialism is foolproof. And Im certainly no expert. But it seems to have more promise than anything else I have looked at.

I also think its about time we rolled the dice.

I fear Austerity more than anything. And you know its coming.

It's just as wrong to completely write off Germany and the Nazi party as evil as it would be to blindly support all that Hitler did.
History needs an unbiased look at all sides of a conflict to be complete.
Unless I missed something nobody here has shown complete support for the Nazis in this thread.

No, in fairness you are totally correct with regards to this thread. I was talking in more general terms about some of the recent posts / threads that have been appearing here and i should have made that clear.

You are also correct in pointing out that all aspects, positive and negative, should be looked at (for all situations / scenarios, not just this one).

You do realise it was a Brit that designed the jet engine do you? Or the industrial revolution? Or a german that invented automobiles?

America has really been good at pinching ideas and reshaping them. That is not something to criticize, in many ways it is something to admire. Like the way Eddison claimed credit for all "his" inventions! I have just actually also visited a website (US) claiming Alexander Graham Bell was an American inventor!

In fairness Dan, how can anyone alive remember the formation of Protestantism? That was a follow on from Lutherism in 1517.

Totally correct. The intellectuals in Germany at this time saw the Prussian Junker class as the biggest threat to peace - and they were subsequently proved correct.

WWI was caused by nationalism. When the war was declared on Germany, people burst out on the street celebrating in France and Britain. If the population had not been primed to support the war, the government might not have started it!

wiki.answers.com...

Is it really that simple? All the blame goes to Germany?
I doubt it.

No, all blame really doesn't go to Germany. However, what Chronaut was pointing out was totally correct. The seeds for WW1 actually begin way before the conflict itself. The rise of the militaristic Junker class (predominantly Prussian rather than German) and the obsession with creating an Empire led to designs of parts of Europe and Russia, as well as parts of Africa. These seeds were actually being sown as far back as the 1870's (and possibly slightly further).

To understand the reactions in Britain and France better, you have to look at the thing in context. France had engaged in several conflicts with Germany in the century prior to the outbreak of WW1. Britain had been watching (with worry) the rise of German militarism and might. Both nations saw the outbreak of war as the chance to put "The Hun" back in there place, which didn't work out that well for them!

But yes, the rise of tensions in Europe was largely down to German militarism and expansionist ideologies. However, they were certainly not solely the only ones to blame.

Hey again.

My Dad was telling me about some controversy regarding the patent. He was saying a German also lay claim. I dont know much about it but I was just looking around a bit. Seems an interesting topic.

Dr. Hans von Ohain and Sir Frank Whittle are both recognized as being the co-inventors of the jet engine. Each worked separately and knew nothing of the other's work. Hans von Ohain is considered the designer of the first operational turbojet engine. Frank Whittle was the first to register a patent for the turbojet engine in 1930. Hans von Ohain was granted a patent for his turbojet engine in 1936. However, Hans von Ohain's jet was the first to fly in 1939. Frank Whittle's jet first flew in in 1941.

Protestant work ethic. That is why Northern Europe flourished and Med Europe didn't. There must be a bit more to it than that but basically the largely Protestant north made huge advances, the largely Catholic south did not. Maybe cold winters are good for focusing the mind!

Also, we are kind of German anyway over here - well a hybrid version anyway. Angles / Saxons = Lower Denmark / Upper Germany. Norse / Danes = originally of Germanic descent. Theory that Celts originated over that way too.

Now couple that with inventing our own religion for a frisky king and with being the only nation not invaded for a thousand plus years and i think it probably explains a lot about us!

British pubs are great places and I love being in them, unfortunately TPTB are doing their best to kill them off......it's the kebab shops you need to steer clear of nowadays, quite unsavoury places for many reasons - but unfortunately unavoidable after a session in our pubs!
