Do you eat meat ? Think about that for a second, you're responsible for supporting an Industry that abuses and kills BILLIONS of animals yearly. How
does that make you feel? By your logic it should be no different. A life is a life, what makes human life more important. We all share this planet.
" Every day, around 23 million chickens are killed in the U.S. (that's 269 deaths per second).
Out of 10 billion land animals killed (US), 9 billion are chickens.
In 1987 around 214 million chicks were destroyed as soon as they crawled out of their shells and revealed their sex.
Chickens are are a source of many foodborne pathogens including Campylobacter and Salmonella. 20% of broiler chickens in the US are contaminated
with Salmonella and 80% are contaminated with Campylobacter in the processing plant.
In 1940, an hen produced around 134 eggs a year. Thanks to genetic and environmental manipulations this number has doubled.
About 95% of the more or less 300 million laying hens in the United States are confined in barren, wire "battery cages".
According to the National Animal Health Monitoring System, in 1999 around 83% of egg producers in 1999 used force molting. Feed withdrawel is
banned in Europe.
In the United States more than 70% of the antibiotics is used by intensive farming "
" At total confinement pig farms the pigs never see daylight until they are put on the truck for the trip to the slaughterhouse.
Two-thirds of all pigs produced in the United States, or around fifty-three million animals a year, spend their lives in a total confinement pig
One hog alone can excrete up to 17.5 pounds of manure and urine each day. On a factory farm with 35,000 hogs, over 4 million pounds of feces and urine
are produced each week. That ammounts to over 200 million pounds of waste each year, on one farm. Even a smaller farm with 1,000 hogs will produce
over 6 million pounds of waste each year (Water Pollution Control Research Series).
In the U.S., antibiotics are added to 90% of starter feeds, 75% of grower feeds and more than half of finishing feeds for pigs (Keep Antibiotics
Working - Dec. 2003)."
Are you Really as morally superior as you think? You're either pro-life and this should bother you too, or you are just brainwashed by religion. A
fetus doesn't develop a consciousness, memories and personality long after birth, yes it's still a life, but if you only support preserving human
life, what makes them human doesn't develop until After birth, as long is it doesn't look human I have no problem destroying a handful of cells that
looks like a blood clot. I bet you eat chicken eggs every day.. Mmmmm Aborted chicken fetus. Hope I helped put a spin on your beliefs. How far are you
willing to take it, you're either all in, or you're contradicting your " Pro-life" morals. Animals feel pain and emotions too.
