As a general comment: this welcoming, otherwordly kindness to strangeness with a frank honesty about

things is what makes Canadians, and their country, great - like we used to be here, in America.

Maybe I should be more specific - so few honest Americans seem left in the cities and immediate suburbs

anymore, that my bug out plan is to get from my house (7miles from a city) to 25-40 miles out the 1st day

and take it from there. I fear the people inside the 20-25 mile ring around cities...

It takes a village - that remembers what a village is. I think we're moving closer to a time

when a return to the village will be everything.

Great post, GREAT topic.

I have met many people with their minds open to this kind of stuff in the last few years (US here).
Some just have bits of knowledge, some are full blown conspiracy theorists, but it is strange that If I go out and talk to a couple strangers a day, it seems likely I would run into one that is at least partially aware. In the last few years I have met a couple friends that are on about it all. I even struck up a conversation with a stripper last year and she stayed at my table all night and we talked about Monsanto. I have been seeing people wearing conspiracy themed shirts, and a few Alex Jones shirts (though I personally don't like Alex Jones).

I really don't find it uncommon at all anymore. Sidenote, I visited Toronto years ago and loved it. I decided if I would ever move to a city it would be that one. Canada wouldn't be my first choice for getting away from it all though, but I was raised in Appalachia and my friend has a cabin in the woods in W.Va. So that would be my get away.

Does your place serve Poutine? I tried that for the first time on my visit. Stuff is goood. Probably even better when you get it from someplace decent. I got mine from some poutine fast food place in a mall (i picked myself up some bags of milk too.

S & F for your post that was a great read. But honestly, i find it really naive that this couple thinks that moving to Canada is going to be a safer bet than living in the USA. Unless they move somewhere very secluded and far away from civilization as possible.

When people are faced with a situation that threatens their way of life or even their very life, anywhere else looks safer IMO.

As for secluded and far away from civilization...we have that in abundance here.

Peace

But something 'looking' better doesn't mean it is.

I still don't understand how anyone, Canadian or America, can think that in a "SHTF" scenario that Canada would be any different from the US, seeing as they are so similar on all the fronts you mention in your OP (GMO's, military intervention abroad, curtailed civil liberties, etc.)

I suspect that f the people you are referring to really think Canada is some kind of promised land, then they must be under some seriously false impressions.

Human Nature.

Something has to look better. Otherwise, what's the point?

I know that if Canada was falling to the point of my being scared to stay and the US looked "ok", I would do the same. And why Canada for so many? Because they don't need a boat or plane, the language, food and culture...same.

Only my guess tho.

Peace

I'm not going to lie, I keep expecting a punch line because of how your title is worded. Interesting story, though. I don't blame them for fleeing.

The US is a strong proud nation, it is also the piece of dirt upon which I wish to die.
I am positive that a hundred fifty years ago there were Mexicans who would have said the same about their country.
Maybe someday Canadians will be crossing the border into the US for prescriptions, fireworks, ...services.. Etc.
Sad sad times.

CAY....if you actually think that China and Russia will at any time EVER in the future be a realistic threat to the U.S./CANADIAN AMB SYSTEM as well as the New FEL...Free Electron Laser...Nuclear Powered of which not only will every U.S. Nuclear Carrier Group have two of...one on each Carrier and One on each Aegis Cruiser as well as new MOBILE SYTEMS as there are only two current Nuclear Powered FEL's land based...one in Alaska and one in Canada.....you are DREAMING.

While Russia and China were still screwing around...in Chinas Case...trying to build a decent Solid Fuel ICBM...and in Russias case...wasting their money and research on a Particle Beam weapon that has a NASTY HABIT of killing the people who are firing it as it tends to irradiate a fairly wide area.

The Russians played around with FEL...but cannot properly continuously adjust Power Demands and properly Vary the Frequency as this is the key to making a Laser....immune to atmospheric conditions....not to mention adapting this solid state Laser to use a Nuclear Power sourse. Split Infinity

Canadians generally are kind, hospitable, informative, knowledgeable and willing to help !

Plus Canada is a huge country with plenty of productive land, 25% of the planets fresh water but only 0.3% of earth's population and is a great place to live !!!

As the OP said, "Welcome to Canada".

I've always had a dream of fleeing to Canada! I've looked into every way possible to do it legally (I'd rather not break the law & risk getting deported.) I'm now thinking of enrolling in college up there. Colleges offer job placement to graduates & once you have a job with a Canadian company it's very easy to get citizenship.
Don't get me wrong - I love the US and I'm a proud citizen, buts it's just a shame what's happening to it, especially environmentally. Canada seems a bit more Eco-friendly & a bit less dangerous. Lol.

So, a priest, a rabbi and a minister walk into a Canadian bar and order three La Fin Du Monde's and the bartender looks at them and say's; "What is this, a joke, eh?"

Aside from a few people in Quebec....I have never been treated ANY DIFFERENT as a U.S. Citizen that a Canadian while in Canada. The people are nice and I see little difference between them...Canadians and U.S. Citizens who come from New England. Same attitude....same love of Sports and tough when it comes to the Elements.

Despite what some here say....Many a Canadian Ship on a fishing trip has had their crew pulled out of the Ocean by the U.S. Coast Guard or U.S. Navy Ship. The same can be said about Canadians helping the U.S.

The reality is that Canada knows that it is intrinsically tied to the U.S. in more ways than can be counted. It is a JOKE to think that Canada willl not continue to be the U.S. CLOSEST in many ways....Allies.

At one time...MANY U.S. ICBM's were parked in Canada....now...it is ABM systems and Direct Energy Weapons such as the FEL. The ties between the two countries are if anything...getting closer.

Since I've never been there I wouldn't know
but thats good to know.

On another note, I remember watching a documentary in the mid 90's about the safest place to be if WW3 erupted. And according to the calculations based on the countries that have nukes and dont, the non civilized portions of Brazil, were the safest place to be. Ofcourse they need to make a rerun of this documentary and calculate that again but yea...I've always kept it in my mind to buy a one way ticket once the SHTF XD

Yeah.. When I was in Canada I felt safe, and right at home.
The only differences being money, units gasoline is sold in, and there are ten Tim Hortons for every one in America.

What does a person need to do in order to become Canadian?

And does your country have the fascist, religious, pro-pollution nutbags on TV and Radio or are we safe for a little while?

>> Obama is going to win the election here in the States -- but that doesn't mean we are even REMOTELY going to turn away from our slide into Corporatism / Theocracy. So I truly am looking to get out of this armed mad house.

And, thanks to Global Warming -- the winters are going to be milder and more useful crop land!

The US is going to get some MUCH BIGGER Deserts in the coming decades I'm afraid.

Lets put it this way. With all of whats happening in these crazy times, if I was left with a choice I would never move to the US

Nothing to do with Canada being a promised land

Hey Jude11, great post, it's really encouraging to read threads like this. i often look around me when i'm out and about and wonder how many of the people i see know whats going on in this world. In january this year i was on a training course and just got talking to a guy that i'd never spoken to before (this in its self was unusual as i'm pretty shy). We somehow got talking about pharmaceutical companies and then the floodgates opened, he knew about everything i'd only just learnt over the prior 2 months, gmo food, vaccines, chemtrails, eugenics.... the list goes on. it turns out he'd found all this stuff out from an uncle that used to be a freemason. I really hope to meet more like minded people as i've started to feel a need to have others around that i can talk to, it gives me hope

Let me tell you about Brazil...there is the Rich and the Dirt Poor. And when I say poor I mean...shanty town starving still infected with TB, Leprosy, Malaria...etc...Poor. The Brazilian Goverment and High Society types JUST LOVE to bash the U.S....all the while they hire Police to round up and KILL groups of Homeless and Parentless kids roaming the Beach Tourist areas.

I get around. Yes...I work with Highly Trained U.S. Military Specialists and we do jobs that are sometimes...undesirable. But the Hipocracy of Brazilians as they condem us and do things that my team or I WOULD NEVER DO....is sickening. The Brazilians speak Portuguese...so do I...along with several other languages. It is not that hard to tell I am a U.S. Citizen...even though I can tan well. But it is apparent wherever I go unless I am dressed for a different part.

I LISTEN ALOT...they do not know I can speak portuguese....so I can here the coments....and I WILL NOT WEAR A SPEEDO type bathing suit...too much sticks out even though I have the physique to do so. So I wear a medium sized suit...not baggy...and I LISTEN....and hear...AMERICAN!....SEXUALLY REPRESSED! LONG HAIR! SCAR ON CHEST. MUST BE MILITARY.

Then I get the...every time I go there...intentional bump while I am bringing beers to beach chairs...where either a few of my guys are or a Lady if I am LUCKY!....by two or three...black haired...long...Gold Chain wearing....thin but in soccar shape...no upper body...speedowearing 20 somethings with a response from them in English...Watch were you are going! I ignor this but sometimes I get challenged and two or three surround me if I am with a woman and start speaking Portuguese...saying...American dating our women...then a swear....etc.

I let it all go...unless they spill my beers. Then I politely ask them to buy replacements...continued...Split Infinity

Continued...since I am twenty years older than these Guy's...even though I am in shape....they refuse to buy the beers they spilled and this is when I start to talk to them in Portuguese. I say...Tu falla Portugues? They look at me with a surprised look...I then say...Duas Cervezas...RAPIDO!...sorry if my Portuguese spelling may be wrong....This either gets me a few new beers or makes things worse.

One time...one got on her knees behind my legs while the other attempted to push me over his buddy behind me...The whole thing ended up with the three of them with a Bloody Nose...a Bruised Throut and a Broken Wrist...and me being picked up by what passes for Cops down there...where I spent 15 minutes in the smelliest Beach Side Police office I have ever been in.

I was immediatly released and am not a fan of Brazilian Men who have never made it out of 1979. Split Infinity
