DavidWillts, I know Ad's pay for the site and I do agree with them being used 100%. However, ever since dial up and the 14.4 modems, I have seen the internet AD's degrade into a "who can make the most annoying and intrusive AD fest". Back in the day, we had static images for legit companies, now we have redirects and huge roll overs. Its progress but in the wrong direction. So, when you get redirected from the sites you once saw as honest and for the people, you will know what I mean.

Also, the internet is not one size fits all anymore, you could load up the same page on a different computer across the world in the past and see the same AD! Back the, I bet the site creator chose what AD's went on the site. Now, AD's will be different all times of the day, on different computers with the same IP, your searches and visited web sites have an effect on what AD's you see, so I am pretty sure they have methods of making sure creators/mods DON'T see certain things.

Just the fact that there is a rolling trend to these things makes it suspect. There will be an AD that is intrusive and when enough people complain about it, no official acknowledgement of the AD will be given, then, it will stop happening. Did these people just pick one day to format C drive? Then another one will appear and the same thing will happen. The only time anything was said was when people said there were viruses in the AD's, SO came out and said he never had anything funny happen on his computer (which could be true and I wouldn't doubt it) and then he got an outside company to scan the AD's.

The thing that really tickles my behind is when people say its a virus all the time yet, some time goes by and this "virus" heals some how after enough people complain about it. Its as though we all went to the same porn site and picked up the same computer STD that knows when we are talking about it!

Armap, the AD's are hosted on ATS, sure ATS didn't pick the AD's but they still have some control over what we see. Otherwise, we would see AD's for "enlargement" with some magically growing tool and nudity.

Thats why I think these are AD's from ATS and that they pay "somebody" more then static images for Walmart.

For the love of all things holy, I don't want the future of the internet to be true 3D VR where a growing "tool" can pop out of the screen and really hit you in the face! They will try to give you real STD's over the net and then send you pills without your knowledge if they could.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

I think it's more control over what not to see, and not done directly by ATS but by a company that chooses the ads based on what their clients tell them, but, as I said, that's something I do not really know how it's done.

See above. I think it's that other (possible) company that does the connection between ATS (and other clients) and the suppliers of the ads, as today it would be a huge task to do that (chose which ads to show) with many companies that could supply ads.

I agree, but I think some people are already trying to get to that point.

PS: I blame all these ads floods on Google, that made it easy to bomb people with ads while gaining some money from it, without any (visible, to me) quality control. extra DIV
