Yes. You couldn't keep quiet every single astronomer (and amateur astronomer) on the face of the planet.

I doubt astronomers would get much press tbh. If they did it would be debunked instantly. This website is a good example of it.

Would I want to be told of the event. NO WAY! I would prefer to be doing my every day stuff, with not a care in the world.

I would'nt hold my breath waiting for any official announcements they wont even let SOHO release images without doctoring them and when ever something is up for some reason technical malfunctions abound at most of these observatories.

I have asked about this and have not gotten a response why is their a red edit post at the top of my replys
