I know 2 guys (both over 60 now) who used to be in the SAS, they told me a few stories, nothing massively interesting, but one thing they did BOTH tell me, was that if they hit anyone, they should roll over them, reverse back over them, and then drive over them again. Apparently one of the biggest problems the SAS faced when in Turkey (didn't know they were there myself, but like i said, these guys are old so this will be a long time ago) was people stepping out in front of military vehicles hoping to be hit,.. Then suing them. It was also not uncommon for people to be happy to lose limbs, damage health, just for the massive pay outs they got. So they were instructed to not stop, and if possible, make sure they were dead.

This video just reminded me of that story. She clearly steps out in front of the traffic.

Looks like she walked into it. Them driving away however is unacceptable.

This is not unusual behavior, it's just now it's caught on tape and shown to the public. These are mercenaries. I knew Soldiers of Fortune when I was in the military and they were all @ssholes. 4.bp.blogspot.com...

The State Department issued Blackwater (now known as Xe Services LLC) a $10,000,000,000 5-year contract in 2010 with one of their duties involving "protecting" the US embassy in Iraq.

ETA but not all mercs are like the ones in this video. Some are more professional and focus exclusively on their assigned task. But still @ssholes.

Blackwater are Americans and they should abide by the laws of the country they are operating within. Hitting cars that are in the intersection is not proper, just as running over someone and driving past them as if they were trash is not proper human behavior.

Iraq doesn't have traffic laws - certainly not at the time of this incident:

www.outsidethebeltway.com...

“Wait, Iraq doesn’t even have traffic laws, so what’s our arrow exactly supposed to do. They’re still going to drive on the wrong side of the street.” I shook my head in agreement and finished off, “Instead of combat patrols, we’ll throw some sirens on the Stryker and start handing out traffic tickets.”

Before we loaded the truck, Staff Sgt. Rine gave us the brief and the plan. “OK, Delfeld, you’re going to paint the arrow on the street while we pull security. Try to make it quick. No one wants to get sniped painting the ground.”

www.niqash.org...

Of course - a different 2008 publishing reads like this:

At the same time, the people of Bagdad also blame U.S. military and security contractor convoys for the traffic meltdown. These military vehicles often drive on the wrong side of the road because they fear being attacked by explosive devices. Indeed, city residents say military convoys ignore all traffic laws; they take the wrong side of the road, drive on pavements and open their doors while driving so as to point their guns at people.

That would certainly explain why this convoy was on the opposite side of the road; complaints about it aside.

In either case - Western nations are somewhat more draconian in their traffic regulations than most others. In Korea, cars park in the middle of the road and drive on the sidewalk (I # you, not.... if it sounds like a car is driving up behind you on the sidewalk - it is... go walk in the middle of the road, between all the parked cars... unless you're talking about a main road that will never have parked cars in it). Signs are also traffic suggestions. The law really only gets involved if you cause damage. When you issue a Korean a driver's license - that is a statement that they are a certified professional driver. They know how to handle a vehicle... signs are for people who aren't professionals and capable of telling what they should and shouldn't do at an intersection.

And never tell an Italian taxi driver that you want to go somewhere fast. You'll be driving down the railroad tracks head-on at a #ing train.

No, it's not.

You're not in Kansas, anymore. You're in a blatant military convoy and someone stepped out in front of you to get run over. Are you going to stop and get out?

No. That exposes you to small arms fire, IEDs, and other nasties. You keep rolling. Even if that person wasn't intending to get hit or part of some terrorist plot; there are still people in the vicinity who may attempt to take advantage of it and kill/abduct you or members of your team.

You don't stop. You keep moving, inform Host Nation of what happened, and let your chain of command (or contract employer) handle it through Host Nation Officials.

If you're driving while I'm in the vehicle with you and you stop for something like that - I'm sliding over to the driver's seat and leaving you behind to face whatever nonsense is in the wings.

Now - were I in Korea, driving a rental or POV, and I hit a national; yes, I would stop. It's not an area where people snipe your ass if you're standing in the open for more than a few seconds. I will probably go to jail for a while, because I'm the American (the foreigner) and I am automatically at fault - but I would stop because it's the right and sensible thing to do (even if there isn't really a law stating you have to).

The same thing with the UAE, Australia, Japan - or a number of other friendly nations a military member can find themselves in. The only exception is when you are doing a HVA transport/escort. You don't stop, then. You can't risk it being an attempt by some enemy to strike at that HVA.

Upon close inspection, the blackwater vehicle clearly turns into the woman, 'intentionally' running her over.
Sick bastards !! Americans will ruin the world for everyone if that's their attitude to human life.

That woman, if it was a woman, clearly walked into the path of the vehicle. Insurance money, ambush, or just plain dumb, it doesn’t matter if they stopped to ask if she was ok they would probably be dead. These guys are doing their job. Someone has to do it. Those boys are kicking ass and taking names and that is the only way they are going to survive. I think Sadam just used serin gas to clean up those heavy traffic issues. Given the choice in this situation, I prefer to roll with these boys as apposed to the recent graduate of the sears safety driving school. People are failing to put the video in context. This is war and I would be glad to have some mad dog jug head to cover my six.

Pretty sure you are supposed to look both ways before crossing the street. She wasn't even run over she was hit by the side of the vehicle ........Maybe if she wasn't wearing bed sheets she would have seen them coming.

We had no business ever being in Iraq.

In the first video :

A white car pulls into oncoming traffic to intentionally cut the truck off...Sirens are running and the siren horn is blaring to warn other vehicles...This isn't any different than an ambulance on its way to an emergency destination...Get out of the way...In America, if you tried to cut off emergency personell you would be jailed...

You guys do know that one of the first things that you're told when entering the war zones is to not stop your vehicle ... Roadside bombs are not only real, but common on a daily basis ...

Next, a soldier yells at a motorist...again, the emergency horn is honking, and the soldier appears to be waving the vehicle away..Oh, and a truck swerves..

Next, a young man in a yellow shirt runs out with something in his hand (a brick maybe) and cocks his arm back in an attempt to hit the soldier ... The soldier in return says "Hit me"...

Next, with sirens blaring, an emergency vehicle crosses the intersection and while one entering motorist stops in time, another either intentionally tries to block the truck, or just dosn't see it in time ... Again, if these men were responding to an emergency, there is no time to stop and hand hold some idiot that wanted to run into an armored truck with its sirens blaring...

Next, a soldier asks "What are you looking at punk?" ... Maybe someone was looking at him funny ... Maybe he had been looked at the same way by the guy hurling bricks at him earlier in the day ...

Not really what its made out to be.

In the second video :

Again, with sirens blaring, a woman walks into the side of a truck during a convoy . She was definitely hit with the vehicle, but she wasn't run over. This misleading headline is almost cause enough to consider this broadcast propaganda. How could she not see 5 or more emergency vehicles with sirens blaring?

Extremist muslims in particular are not afraid to die. In many cases, these people are used as traps WILLINGLY to stop a motorcade long enough to stage an attack. Sometimes, these innocent women and even children are strapped with bombs, becoming road side bombs in the flesh.

If you were hit by a police officer on his way to an emergency, help would be called in on the radio. The motorcade isn't going to stop for you. Help is on the way. How do we know help wasn't called in here? The men in the truck sounded concerned. Who is to say that emergency services were not notified immediately?

Just watch an episode of COPS, and see how concerned the police are with motorists that are hit or injured during a high speed pursuit. They'll be taken care of eventually, but the priority is the emergency at hand.

This is the reality of the video. I watched it with the sound on first, to hear the sirens. Then i watched without the sound as to not be influenced by the anchor man.

How can the same bunch of people who claim we are being lied to by the media turn around and post none other than images and opinions provided by the very media that we do not trust to begin with?

Because it fits with your own agenda?

Blackwater minions aren't heroes, they aren't soldiers, they aren't 'symbols of America' and they sure as hell ain't 'loyal' Americans. They're mercenaries; hired guns and thugs who answer to money and not laws or countries. It wouldn't surprise me to see them in the streets over here when the US inevitably falls apart and the elite start cracking down. We'll see just how loyal these dogs are to America when they're getting paid to intimidate and attack American citizens.

There's something very wrong here if we seriously have people defending (and even cheering them on) for running over an innocent woman. No matter what excuses, what rationalizations, get thrown out there - oh, she was probably a suicide bomber; it was the woman's responsibility to see them; they couldn't stop or they'd risk being shot at; it's the embassy's duty to report the accident, not them - there's a right and a wrong here and I think people know it.

Blackwater (they'll always be Blackwater to me, no matter how many times they change their name) scares the hell out of me, and it should scare the hell out of everyone else here, too.

Try that BS somewhere else....a civilian has the right of way ANYWHERE in the civilized world.
Try it in real life. Run into someone who stepped in front of your vehicle and go take your
chances in court. You apologists for this behavior lack ANY empathy. Imagine if this were happening
to YOU...in your hometwon...some invading force of liberators, crashing your vehicles, killing and
injuring your townfolk, raiding your home in the middle of the night to check for compliance to
THEIR rules, scaring the hell out of your daughter and your wife and grandmother, manhandling
them all out into a single room and sequestering them at gunpoint while your house was tossed
for weapons.

There is no justification for this. Operation Liberty and Freedom, eh?

And we wonder why they hate us.....ignorant fools

Whats bs about my post? could you be a little specific? I think I gave it a good analysis.

I don't recall the video in the OP showing any " raiding of homes in the middle of the night to check for compliance to rules, scaring the hell out of daughters and wives and grandmothers, manhandling
them all out into a single room and sequestering them at gunpoint while their house was tossed
for weapons."

The person DID step INTO THE ROAD and INTO a large amount of OBVIOUS traffic.

Let's back up a bit here and discuss how you stated that the woman looks "fine" after the impact.
What part of the video causes you to come to this conclusion?

Hehe, If it were one bad video you may have a point. In fact, it is hundreds of bad videos. I challenge you to find one GOOD blackwater video.

BTW, I was there and I heard their "side" of the story daily. They would brag and laugh about shooting at people, cars, whatever, running over things, people, blasting houses, etc... It was all a joke to them.

Looking at the second video.....

The Humvee did sway toward the civilian a bit. Here is a few possibilities why.

1. The Humvee swayed naturally (sometimes people sway in traffic we all do) -this should only hold true if the driver did not see the civilian which would be a poor excuse considering the fact that he should be extra aware of such things-

2. The Humvee swerved away from something on the other side and swerved toward the civilian in the process. (keep in mind that the Humvee did not veer OFF the road and it maintained its course throughout the entire video)

3. The driver seen the civilian and swayed toward and hit the civilian on purpose. (this doesn't seem likely because although the Humvee did sway toward the civilian it did maintain its course by staying in the road)

Now lets look at the civilian.....

The civilian did walk into the road in front of a large and very obvious amount of both civilian traffic as well as a military convoy.

1. The civilian did walk OFF the sidewalk and into the road.

2. The civilian walked into the Humvee after walking off of the sidewalk and into the road.

3. The person that was hit by the Humvee had walked into the road with a blatant disregard for a massive amount of traffic and thus was struck by the front passenger side corner of the Humvee (not run over I might add).

I conclude that based on the evidence provided. The driver is NOT at fault. We don't know why the Humvee swayed toward the civilian slightly. It could have been for many reasons but the fact is he stayed in the road so it doesn't matter.

The civilian on the other hand walked off of the side walk and into the road and into a large amount of blatant and obvious traffic.

It's called applying common sense.

Watch the video. There was nothing the drivers of that convoy could do to prevent that woman from getting hit. She walked into the side of the vehicle.

Here's the thing. This would have never gotten an ounce of coverage if they had stopped for that woman and subsequently been blown to hell by jerry-rigged 155mm rounds or taken several casualties from small arms fire (or someone running up and chucking a grenade into the door).

They had sirens with flashing lights for God's sake. You can't seriously defend the standpoint that the convoy ran into her when it's quite obvious that she ran into the convoy.

They're mercenaries; hired guns and thugs who answer to money and not laws or countries.

Actually met a few of them out at Pendleton the other day. Not sure what their specialties were - but they fit right in with the deans of your college.

It wouldn't surprise me to see them in the streets over here when the US inevitably falls apart and the elite start cracking down. We'll see just how loyal these dogs are to America when they're getting paid to intimidate and attack American citizens.

Won't happen. When that happens, the American Dollar will have no real value, for one. They live and have homes in America (or at least ambitions to have one here). When the USD is pretty much worthless due to socio-economic collapse, it's kind of difficult to hire mercenaries who will accept that as payment.

Not to mention that they have families, friends, and others they care about here at home.

I'll be straight with you - I'm good at several things; but most specialized in military applications of my knowledge and abilities. I shoot well, have a knack for both tactical and strategic deployment, and know avionics very well with knowledge of industries related to aviation manufacturing.

There are, essentially, two places that look for hiring that kind of skill set. The military (which will force me to retire after so many years) and PMCs. Where am I likely to seek employment after I retire? With the people who design/build/use weapons.

Does that mean I drop my loyalties to my country, my personal principles of behavior, or my family/social ties?

Blackwater (they'll always be Blackwater to me, no matter how many times they change their name) scares the hell out of me, and it should scare the hell out of everyone else here, too.

Humans are typically afraid of things they don't understand.
