This is one of the most political songs I have ever heard, and I grew up in the 60s. I believe in what the singer says, too!

A fine selection, I was trying to decide which Chumbawamba song to put up I hadn't gotten around to thinking about crass. They were really the first intelligent punk band for me. Honey Bane is still going strong.
I remember Anthrax too, I was a big 2000A.D Fan, loved their "I am The Law" single about Judge Dredd. Created by alan Moore. He also created V For Vendetta didn't he?

Thanx. That is not the same Anthrax BTW. en.wikipedia.org...

Here's some more politically charged agitpop...

Joel Emmanuel Hägglund was born in Gefle (Gävle), Sweden in 1882. As a child, after the death of his father, in 1887, he worked in a rope factory. He emigrated to the United States in 1902 and settled in California where he changed his name to Joe Hill. Converted to socialism in 1910, Hill became a member of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) and was one of the leaders of the San Pedro dock workers' strike. In 1912 he was beaten up and permanently scarred during a free speech campaign in San Diego.

Well thats a coincidence, Gary(drummer) and Francis (singer) from the poison girls live in my village, they are doing a gig to raise awareness of our new LETS scheme on the 5th of may here. We've just finished building the website and it should be up by then! I think they are both in their 70s now but im too polite to ask, I'll post a video after the gig. They are already donating the money raised from their single "dirty Work" to the dragon festival 4 who have been hit with a 38000 euro fine each for letting 20,000 ravers and punks to have a party on their land (allegedly)
officialdragonfestival.blogspot.com.es...

LETS stands for Labour exchange trading scheme. Rather than using money we are using "olivos" as currency. I think i will start a new thread explaining it all in detail.

Hey very cool! Still active at their age, impressive. Vi-Subversa (Frances) would be in her 70's for sure. Definitely post the vid here. That would be an interesting thread also, you should do it.

I saw the Poisons a few times in the early eighties, first time when they were opening for Crass (the Poisons helped Crass financially a few times, like paying for the initial pressing of 'Stations'). 'Songs of Praise' is a great album...

A bit of metal now, One minute silence Revolution.
This band always hated the fact that they were slaves to the record company and were always outspoken about it at their gigs. After the third album they were given John Lekky as a producer, he also produced pink floyd for their last album, they recorded, and then told V2 records to f**k off. the album was shelved.

They are now back recording independently to raise money for eddie stratton the drummer. He has chrones disease which he treated with medicinal marijuana. there was a fire in the indian takeaway below his flat. The firemen rescued him which was good, but reported his plants to the police and now he's going to jail.

Who could forget the Subhumans?

Or that golden classic from everyone's favorite, Flux of Pink Indians...

Of course we can't talk about excitin' foot tapin' tunes with a political message without mentioning The Mob...

And of course three's a crowd, so one more foot stompin' politico ditty, or two, to excite your cochlea...
