Glad to see you here TDawg.
I agree that it was probably headed somewhere for training. Prob. Ellington.
It did not have an escort and was on a flatbed.
We see all sorts of military equipment coming down I-10. I have always been able to identify them after a little digging. Usually on the BAE site. This one was particularly interesting, though.
I appreciate all the info, fellas.
When I saw it I said "What on Earth is that?" and my kiddo said "Ask the guys on ATS."
Excellent advice, as always.

Until there's pictures, it's impossible to know for sure. I'd bet money it's a mockup though, used to train pilots for target identification. Very unlikely to be an actual S-300, I haven't heard anything about a "missing" one circling the military blogosphere. Usually, info like this gets out fast.

Here's the TOR-m1 mockup I mentioned. BTW, it's a very good copy, it even has a working US made radar. It was spotted during Red Flag 2011.

i can almost assure you that they arent being placed along the coast.

as to where it was headed, there are several possibilites
1. Ellington Field JRB
2. The Houston Port
3. Ft Polk, LA

i was stationed at EF for 6 years and it is a joint reserve base consisting of all branches of military service (USAF, NAVY, USMC, ARMY, USCG), there are a number of different types of ground equipment out there belonging mostly to the army and marines.

more than likely (and this is my own opinion) it was headed to Ft Polk, LA in Alexandria for training puposes. both air force and army participate in a training exercise call "Green Flag" out there. Air Force ASOS participates in training exercises out there as of late, as well as MQ-1 Predator drones.
