You see, that is what I don't understand here. I'm not familiar with Indonesia's military or it's power..but I sure know China's by heart. 2,500
U.S. Marines are fearsome...to most nations. That number is little more than comic relief to China. What are they supposed to do? China would have to
view them as a serious tool to be used in some way for the statement to carry any meaning. 20,000 would make a statement. 2,500 is smaller than some
overseas temporary deployments the U.S. makes strictly for training aid. ??
Maybe it is all about Indonesia? Again..I don't know much about them. Not my corner of the world. Would 2,500 Marines stationed in a different nation
so physically distant make for serious hand wringing in Jakarta? It just doesn't make sense..... The Air Force can airlift several times that many in
very short order if needs be..and everyone on Earth knows it. What is the point of actually stationing them there if not to be ready for immediate
deployment in a way someone has already given some thought to?
