How many people killed by cars.....???? So lets do away with cars.....
Do away with guns so we can be beaten to death with sticks, oh wait, the criminals will still have guns...hmmmmm so we get a stick and a rock to protect ourselves.
The funny thing is how people want to ban guns until they are in a position to need one. It is like the police or military Get rid of them....oh....wait a minute ...who is going to protect us ????? LOVE????? I think not.
Guns in an normal persons hands is safe. There are idiots and psychos out there and people that want to harm other people but they will do it whether they have guns or not. If no guns..then they will use a knife, club, fists....so lets ban knives, clubs, and hands. Cut every ones hands off...........OFFF WITH THEIR HANDS...

Anyone with a brain knows you do not fight a tank with a rifle. The government will have a hard time finding troops that will fire on american civilians. You would see defections,and the country would descend into civil war again. You misunderstand the duty to the citizenry the troops have. As for attacking a tank. IEDs are excellent weapons and anti material rifles work wonders on Cockpits. Civilians do buy those rifles too.

anti material rifles work wonders on Cockpits. Civilians do buy those rifles too.

It is EXCEPTIONALLY difficult to target an attack helo moving from far away that has FLIR on you and raining down its vulcan cannon on you and you have to get off the one perfect shot at over a mile distance, in the air, hit the cockpit, get lucky, pray for the wind to be zero, pray that you were not spotted. Conclusion: that aircraft will not be taken down even with anti-material rifles.

Sniping a attack helo is very hard when it is moving miles away and has a bigger gun and hellfire missiles. You guys need to get over the fact that your hunting rifles are gonna be part of the revolution against the attack helo.

I think it would be interesting to observe, how many gun crimes were conducted by people aremed will illegaly obtained firearms and how many gun crimes were conducted by people armed with legaly obtained firearms. Once this is done, and only when this is done, can we move further on in this discussion, as gun crimes conducted by people armed with illegal firearms would be exculded from the overall number of gun crimes, in relation to the legality of fireamrs debate.

Furthermore, before either side of the discussion comes to rash conclusions, which are particularly dangerous, they must first carefully evaluate, think about and discuss the available informations and viewpoints, before proceeding to do anything.

For example, banning gun entirely in the US, would likely result in increases in violent gun crimes, as criminals armed with firearms would have greater incentive (i.e. not fearing death) to carry out criminal acts, where as banning gun entirely in a country such as Australia (where gun control is already strict) would have little to non effect on violent gun crime numbers. It is all dependent on the domain and environemnent in which guns are being used in. So no rash conclusion, but thought out and critically evaluated discussions.

I live in the socialist state of Calif and shooting like the one in Oakland will happen in any state that has strict gun control laws like Calif.
First it is illegal to conceal carry at all schools in Calif.(gun free zones)
Plus CCWs are almost imposable to get in cities in Calif so the shooters know they are safe.

Just look at the numbers of shooting in Calif and compare them with states like Texas, Utah Nevada or Arizona(since there no permit CCW) where its easy to get a CCW.

The number of non criminals shooting dropped by at least 50% in all these states when they went to Shall Issue CCWs.

I can guarantee that disarming the US public would only increase criminal violence and there would be another problem in that the Mexican drug cartels would start arming the criminals in the US as a new source of income.
Then you might have full auto AK47 and RPGs on the streets of the US.

Look at the gun laws in Mexico and how strict they are.
Then look at how well armed the drug cartels are.

Banning guns will do nothing but disarm the victims

This kinda seems to be moving off the thread here..but for the quick sake of argument..these would be United States Military in these attack helicopters, right?

If things ever went THAT far..and things go so bad that U.S. Helicopters are attacking U.S. Citizens...I think it's reasonable to think not every person in the American armed forces would go for that. Other Helicopters would likely take off from other bases that don't think shooting up Americans (armed or not) is such a constitutional thing. It would get ugly fast......

It's the aftermath of THAT first chaos where those firearms would come in real handy, IMO. Not that I see that level of Fail being terribly likely, either way.

I don't disagree with you but try not to use so broad a brush, a lot of people would call me liberal on a lot of issues, but between me and my girlfriend we own 8 guns.

Our guns are not only here to protect us from criminals, but they are also their to protect us from the government. When the time is needed of course.

Nazis are just one example of a government killing its own citizens. Has happened in the past, and it is happening now in the USA.
