President Obama, employing his strongest language to date on the Supreme Court review of the federal health care overhaul, cautioned the court Monday against overturning the law -- while repeatedly saying he's "confident" it will be upheld.
The president spoke at length about the case at a joint press conference with the leaders of Mexico and Canada. The president, adopting what he described as the language of conservatives who fret about judicial activism, questioned how an "unelected group of people" could overturn a law approved by Congress.

Really? Who does this guy think he is? He does not hold sway over the Supreme Court. He does not hold sway over Congress. Last I checked there were THREE distinct branches of government, and he is only ONE of them. Sorry, did I learn this wrong in school?

He is sounding more and more like a DICTATOR.

I think you are premature.
Our Dear Leader said if Congress couldn't act, he would do it himself.
Now, after taking action and ignoring Congress, all he has to do is appoint himself Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
Problem solved. No more resistance.

It's been a dictatorship ever since King George II (Bush) took office.

Are you just now realizing all the powers that the Executive Branch is trying to grab up?

It's like hungry hungry hippos with American freedoms this past decade...

They are just nom-nom-nomming away on that great document we hold so dear...

I realize that, but W didn't have the audacity to brag about it.

I actually hope this kind of behavior from O will wake people up. But it probably won't. Baa.

"I'm confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress," Obama said.

If Congress passes an unconstitutional law, should it not be reviewed and potentially overturned?

Perhaps the supreme leader should have declared a war on healthcare.

Obama is employing a method of Real Politik. He is, on the one hand, preemptively admonishing the Supreme Court for a ruling they have not yet rendered in the event the Court strikes the legislation down, while simultaneously asserting confidence the legislation will be upheld. This, at least in the minds of the practitioners of Real Politik, gives the appearance that he has correctly predicted the ruling that has not yet been delivered.

In other words, Obama is employing the method of real manipulator rather than the method of keeping one's pie hole shut at appropriate times.

Unelected Congress. Because our election process for POTUS sure is and has always been fair and balanced.

I wanna hate on Obama so much, but the only reason we aren't at war with Iran right now is because he wants to let sanctions run their course. Thats the only thing I really commend him on as another war is ridiculous.

well, i hate him.

he's a socialist, a phony, illegitimate, tyrannical POS that should have never been on one ballot. he comes out of nowhere, and in just a few short years assumes the highest position in the nation while simultaneously going through extraordinary efforts to block any and all access to his past records.

even Bill Clinton knew he was/is a phony! but a good friend of the Clinton's is murdered and Bill was essentially told to shut up.

the guy was put into power for a very specific reason. i don't know if that reason is to bring this nation closer to a dictatorship, destroy the constitution, inflame racial tensions, implement class warfare, ruin the economy, blow the nation's finances out of the water.

my wife used to tell me that he was the anti-christ and i would just laugh. now i think she may be on to something.

Does anybody recall Obama inviting the Supreme Court Justices to a Joint Session of Congress speech a few years back... A speech in which Obama "dissed' the Justices face to face?

No matter how objective they may try to be and no matter how persuasive Obama may be... I bet they all remember that night with a hint of sour grapes.

You know what they say bout Kharma...what goes around comes around.

Obama is right, the Conservative Supreme Court seems to care about freedom
when it infringes upon corporate rights, AKA profits.

The Supreme Court ruled Monday that those arrested for even minor violations may be
strip-searched before being admitted to jail, saying safety concerns outweigh personal
privacy rights.

The court’s conservatives ruled against a New Jersey man who was strip-searched after being
mistakenly arrested on an outstanding warrant.

Too bad they have their priorities backwards - healthcare is more dangerous than giving the
government the right to stick their finger up your butt.

And Obama was right, five idiots undermined the sanctity of the Democratic process
by making it a game of private influence.

Again, whatever helps the corporations is the constitution.

Obama himself is a constitutional lawyer.

He taught constitutional law at the U of Chicago for something like 10 years !!!

How could it be that this genius along with his genius advisory staff overlooked the most obvious error in ObamaCare ?

The now famous and mysteriously missing "severability clause"

Boy did they blow it !!

or did they ?

Maybe this is fixed more than we think ?

Beyond belief

so obama thinks its a good idea to mock the only people that he cant do anythng about or remove from office and then expects them to rule in favor of his unconstitutional health care mandate?those old cantankerous justices are gonna make sure they live at least 8 more years just to spite him. i eagerly await the day i get to read the post on ats that says its been reppealed and what he viewed as his greatest acheivement is trashed and thrown in his face so he gets to understand how we all felt when mr "hope and change" showed who he really was and how much he was out to destroy this country and our constitution

There are 3 branches of govt to prevent the tyranny when the other 2 branches seize ALL the power. I don't care if it was the Democrats (this time), the Republicans, libertarians, communists, or men from Mars. De-focus love for a party or ideology and only focus on the contents of the Constitution as it was intended WHEN IT WAS formed.

It is the people that are the 4th branch with the 2nd amendment to complete the NASA level of redundancy for the protection of freedom.
edit on 2-4-2012 by tkwasny because: addition.

The SCOTUS knows if they join the ranks of the other 2 branches and demonstrate corruption, the 4th branch will take action.
