An internet discussion about what a politician said prior to an election.

Talk about wasting precious time and resources.

Who gives a flying fart for what Obama - or any other politician - reads from his prompter. The stuff isn't even written by themselves, and has in no way any impact upon real occurrences. Don't tell me you still haven't figured that one out.

Obama Calls for More Redistribution of Wealth, Declaring: ‘I Am My Brother’s Keeper’

Obama made a campaign speech at the University of Vermont and used some Bible references
to somehow justify his well known "Redistribution of Wealth" agenda.

Most of the rhetoric was nothing new.

He mentioned his "double down" theory several times,
along with continuation of other failed policies.

I wonder if the "double down" will happen to the deficit ?

Obama has Increased the national debt by $4 trillion since 2009.
His plan for 2013-2016 may be to "double" the $4 trillion and make it an even $8 trillion more.
(God help us !)

The national debt is about the ONLY thing that seems to have been "equally" distributed !!

(CNSNews.com) - In a campaign speech in Vermont on Friday, President Barack Obama referenced the biblical story of Cain and Abel in condemning what he called "you're-on-your-own economics" while arguing for a number of policies that involve government transferring wealth from one group of citizens to another—including providing public schools with more money for teachers’ salaries, freezing the interest rates on government-backed student loans, supporting companies developing biofuels, electric batteries and wind and solar power and funding scientists who are doing research on stem cells and climate change.

“I hear politicians talking about values in an election year,” Obama said. “I hear a lot about that. Let me tell you about values. Hard work, personal responsibility--those are values. But looking out for one another. That’s a value. The idea that we’re all in this together. I am my brother’s keeper. I am my sister’s keeper. That’s a value.”

In Genesis, Adam and Eve’s first-born son is Cain and their second-born son is Abel. Cain becomes a farmer and Abel becomes a shepherd. When Cain offers the fruit of his farming to God and Abel offers a lamb, God is pleased with Abel’s offering but not Cain’s. Cain then kills Abel. When God asks Cain where Abel is, Cain says: “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

When Obama said on Friday, "I am my brother's keeper," he was addressing a crowd of campaign supporters at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt.

After promoting his past accomplishments including the bailout of General Motors and Chrysler, removing private banks from the government-guaranteed student loan business, and his health-care law, Obama pointed to policies he wants to pursue in the future.

"Double-Down" sounds more like "Double-Talk"

BTW Barack, just WHO got all that extra spending money anyway ?

The average American citizen KNOWS they didn't get any !!

A massive redistribution of wealth in this country is just about the only thing I AGREE with Obama on. However...the devil is in the details.

I just want to say that I feel very sorry for the hard working americans and their families. It has no use to say it is their own fault that the US citizen has been, and is being conned to this very day. But they should realize that the con-men will continue the scam until there is nothing left to steal.

When that day comes everybody will look at eachother and say.."how could it come this far and did we not see".

Meanwhile the con goes on....Everybody with his eyes wide open does understand that Obama will be elected as the next POTUS. No matter how populair a Ron Paul or other good-willing candidate will be, the outcome is set.

What next..

But we, here in Europe should be watchfull because if we do not pay attention the same thing will happen here, probably by the same criminal organisation./

I haven't been surprised by anything he has done....because he has done exactly what he said he would do when he could do it.

That has to be the funniest thing I've ever read on ATS. Good one!!!

gee - gubbers always attach the purse strings to other puppet strings.

Seriously???

Haven't you figured out that it's all a shell game waiting to collapse?

"Durable Goods, Stock Market, Fed in the Driver's Seat & Why"

If it wasn't for the Federal Reserve being the only one left to buy up all of our debt and give out all of those Trillions in loans to corporations, we wouldn't have anything increasing!!

As long as the Fed keeps the Primary Dealers flush with cash, the market and the economy will respond in kind. Financial assets and commodities will continue to rally and the economy will follow along in a slow growth path.

At some point, however, inflation will tie the Fed's hands. Will it be this summer, when the Fed's MBS purchase program ends? Then what? A wide variety of inflation measures, including especially commodity prices, which the Fed pretends to ignore, will hold the key to whether the Fed can continue to artificially drive up asset prices in a way that promotes false and otherwise unsustainable economic growth.

ilene.typepad.com...

"Why the Fed is ‘Rigging’ the Stock Market"

Number one: ask any reporter on the stock market beat and they’ll tell you the mood in New York is really no different from yours. Brokers are edgy, cautious, and living one day at a time. Many of them are quick to admit “equity markets have been artificially stimulated by ‘so much tape and glue from the Fed, Treasury, White House, and Congress.’”

In other words, they are watching the market get artificially pumped up before their very eyes and they are powerless to stop it.

fellowshipofminds.wordpress.com...

The real question is, how long can the Federal Reserve keep this fake circle jerk going?

Xuenchen, I haven't read the thread yet (8 pages at this point). But I want to add something that might be pertinent in explaining Obama's attitude.

One of the Islamic virtues is redistribution of wealth. This was a continuation of an old Arab custom. So there is a certain commonality among Muslims and Communists, Islamic Extremists or Jihadists are linked with the Left-wing worldwide.

redistribution of wealth...i like that, amazing how it ONLY describes going one way. for decades it has been going from the bottom, to the top. but now, the rants and whining come in about it going from the top, to the bottom.
U.S. corporations moved 9 million jobs overseas over the last decade, but let's blame the middle class and poor for our economic troubles.
over the last 2 decades the income of the wealthy has skyrocketed, while the income of the middle class and poor have stayed the same or has deceased.
funny how the wealthy have always said "cut our taxes so we can create jobs, we are the job creators"....yeah...jobs overseas. class warfare?? you're damn right......class warfare where the wealthy have won all the "battles", and the middle class and poor now have part-time, low-wage, no benefit, jobs.
workers in america don't worry about getting their next raise, they worry about holding on to their jobs, and basically that's how the wealthy WANT them to feel.
and if someone says, "where is your proof " ? it takes just a couple of minutes to check U.S. employment and tax rolls, so i'm not going to do that for anyone that lazy.

As bad as Obama may look, and as good as he sounds, the thought of a republican president at this time is equally as blasphemus. I think his failed promises and the fear of the republican parties methods to "fix this" will put Barry back into office, which scares me more than anything. Damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

I think Hillary should have ran against the bum. There is no rule against it, and as a concerned American I welcome a more diverse pallet to choose from. Our next president will be terrible, and there's not much we can do about it for lack of choices. That doesn't sound like democracy to me.

Don't worry yourself overly much. Obama's populism won't survive the 2012 election. It will be back to (big) business as usual, complete with oil pipelines that are sold on the open market benefiting foreigners while our environment is decimated.

You have nothing to worry about. Your bank account is safe---unless you fall victim to another financial manipulation.

Is Obama the keeper of all of his brothers in Kenya? So, he's taking money from working people(tax payers) and the rich(tax payers) and redistributing to whom exactly? Why do they deserve it? I was raised that if you want something you work for it, NOT lay around and have it handed to you for nothing. You only get what you give.

Obama = Worst. President. Ever.

Am I my brother's keeper?

Most certainly I am. My brother and I came from both same parents. My parents took care of us when we were young, protected us and gave us love, care and concern. My brother and I both shared that bond, and learn much passed on by them, as well as education that they provided for me.

As I grew other, I realized that there is a bigger world out there called civilisation. Buildings, roads, schools, hospital, security, etc, could not have came from my parents alone. It came from every citizen that had contributed. As civilisation continued to expand through trade - lifeblood of the world - I saw how interlinked we are to each other.

There is no difference as a species between me and a Zulu tribesman's child. We were created beings born equal with the gift of life, from the same Creator that is known by many names and languages, across cultures, time and sapce. We share the same world and being human, we aspire the same. All humans are my brothers and sisters.

The only differences are opportunities in life.As a middle class son in an affluent society, I had acess to the best of everything. But not many in the world shared the same, for there is poverty, excessive corruption and just about many selfish flaws that are against the progress and evolution of mankind in many nations.

As I progress, turning back, I see many still struggling, with some on the wayside. They are my fellow humans, brothers and sisters. Can I turn a blind eye to them, and selfishly rise to the top, even using their heads to step upwards, or should I pause, lend a hand to my brothers and sisters, pull them up to the best of my ability, and together progress?

No human would want to be left behind. Not the poor, not the man who chosed a life a crime to sustain his life, not the man whom felt cheated and turned anti-human, not the man who got bullied so often he allowed hatred to flow, not the man so disappointed in life he turned to drugs, not the man who have problems relating to others that he had to hide away, not the man who thinks he is a failure and given up on himself, etc. EVERYONE needs help at some point of time in life.

What makes us 'civilised humans'? Alone, none of us would have survive the jungles. It was others before us that had paved the way for our success through toil, sweat and blood. Today, many had achieved success beyond the wildest dreams of our primitive ancestors and forefathers. Can the 'many' selfishly turn their backs on the children whom are struggling, of our ancestors and forefathers whom had gave us our todays?

My brother is never too heavy that I will abandon him. If he needs help, I will give it to him. If he is wrong or made mistakes, it is my responsibility to help him discuss and find out what's wrong, and then to correct them to contribute to society's progress and evolution. He would the same for me, for none is perfect.

I am my brother's keeper. I am only human.
