Fire is engulfing Moscow’s Federation Tower – a skyscraper under construction which is set to become Europe’s tallest building. About 300 square meters are ablaze; people are being evacuated from the building, in the city’s business center.

RT correspondents at the scene say the scale of the fire is hard to verify at the moment as the flames continue to spread. The fire broke on the building's 66th floor (250 meters above the ground).

Thought everybody should read about this, is there anybody in Russia that can see this? They said it can be seen for at least 10 kilometers away. Looks like construction on the towers going to have to be halted, what a shame too it really is a great looking building. Hopefully nobody's injured from this, or nobody dies and it can be contained to certain floors

Watch for black smoke... In roughly 2 hours it will most certainly collapse in its own footprint at free-fall speeds.

In a pancake style, virtually at free fall speed. Wouldn't be the first time physics was pawned by fire.

They'd better evacuate the building next to it too. We all know how the sight of a neighbouring buildings collapse causes others to collapse of their own accord.

I hope it burns all the way to the street and stays standing so the whole world can see that fire really CAN'T make a building collapse.

I hope no one gets hurt, though.

So of what material composition is it that is on fire?

It's basically an empty office tower, minus (hopefully) flame-resistant building materials?

Thanks for the news though.

I'll assume that the crane leaked fuel onto some conduit and a smoker unwittingly tossed his ciggy on it.

When the fire is out, I wonder if they'll ship the melted steel off to China.

Rough guess.....looks like a crane of some sort highlighted by light.....maybe the fire light or that huge spotlight over on the building to the left. Maybe lights under the crane or on the same roof.

No telling, but is that a giant UFO on top of the building to the left?

Seriously, let's stop trying to find things that aren't there in every picture someone posts.

The live cam gave some good shots a few minutes ago -
I thought it was under better control until they showed
the other side of the building. Hope it is contained
soon.
