A Letter to the Masses

Today is the day that all the world knows of my power,
and the strength of my kind.

Generations of my ancestors have labors endlessly to secure my reign,
and now I lead my followers to a new age.
It will be one of limitless wealth and prosperity for all.
None of our kind shall ever again feel the pains of hunger.
We shall all feed as kings, and queens.

Through the work of all of you,
and those who birthed you,
we have built an empire on this world that has lasted,
and grown for thousands of years.
Our plans have been fruitful.
Our enemies have been defeated.
Never again will we feel the sting of their attack,
the pain of their bite, or choke in their dust.
The last of those who oppose us, and have tried to drive us to extinction
are nothing but stories to tell the little ones as they look upon our empire...Your empire.

Now, there is nothing but the final stage in the plan.
We must use the knowledge of our slaves to move to new soils,
for we are many, and must evolve to new levels.
Our future lies within the information that the humans gathered for us.
They served us well.
Without them, we would not have the enourmous structures
to withhold our colonies,
nor the food to feed them.
It took countless generations of changing the humans to produce the desired results,
but in the end,
the empire they built for us is glorious
and shall last until every one of us dries in the sun,
to feed the soil beneath all of our feet.

We are small in size,
but our numbers proved the power to control all the world,
and all the worlds beyond this.
We shall grow to feed upon the universe itself in time.
Their is nothing that can stop us.
We are stronger in numbers now than we ever have been,
and we grow everyday.
We are power. We are the future. We are Ants.

Remember our story, and continue to build for the future

I love it! A really good read, and I especially enjoy short stories with a hook at the end.

Thank you for the kind words. I always enjoy these writing contest, and trying to create something different than the other stories that get written. It's a challenge sometimes because there are some great writers that bless these pages.
