I'm not liberal on social issues, more so on the economic end. My ideologies are too diverse to be classified in black or white, or right and left terms. I AM for freedom of press and freedom of speech though, no matter how uncomfortable that makes censorship advocates like you feel. Same goes for the thread starter.

How do you know what motivates people?

I am responding to the underlying motivation that people have, for posting the reports of said crimes.

How do you know these people are sick?

I want you to start to want to stop being as sick as you are.

How do you know these things?

It is not about you wanting to be informed. It is about your glorification of how terrible certain things are.

You have complained incessantly about the decline in the quality of this site, you have made both general and specific statements about the quality of the membership and the quality of the posts ... and yet you are doing the exact same thing.

Where is your proof for the following statements you have made?

Why did I post some unpleasant stuff about animals and children?

To wake people up to what is going on and to try to get people to try to change the many injustices, cruelties and hurtful stuff that so many innocents must suffer through..............to change the world.

Go back to sleep in the Matrix if you can.

But, be warned, you think that the "stuff" affecting other people a ocean away will never affect you and so you want to just think about flowers, butterflies, rainbows and cute soft puppies and kittens.

If we all don't unite and change "business as usual" the tyranny, injustices and horror that many people and animals now face on a daily basis will eventually affect either you, your children or your grand children.

We cannot keep going on the way we are going.

People that are leading us towards self-destruction both as a species and our beautiful planet.

One, two, three million "awake and aware" people cannot change this world, it will take a lot more.

Every once in a while I take a break from ATS, the news, anything heavy.

But I do volunteer twice a month at a homeless shelter and I can tell you right now, that just a couple years ago, we got predominantly drug addicts, Alcoholics, ex Vets suffering from PTSS, mentally challenged people and people who were just lazy.

Now we are finding more and more every month, people that once held a 9-5 job, a home, a car, kids, the whole American Dream - the Middle Class, are now homeless.

One medical issue, job loss (outsource to another country), or one legal issue and bam you have what were once "normal, middle class" people now homeless.

Sick Crimes: Who will speak for the 8-10 million (in America alone) dogs and cats that are abused and snuffed out every day?

Who will speak out for the children that are abused.

I am a survivor of being an orphan at 9 and for the next 11 years being physically, sexually and mentally abused.

Nobody spoke up for me, nobody, even when I tried to tell, nobody would listen - people don't like to hear about unpleasant stuff, it upsets their Barb and Ken Doll World.

If you can't handle the real time news, and you won't bare witness and think up ways to stop this tyranny and injustice than go back to sleep in the matrix.

I'm not saying you are bad or weak.

But, TPTB are still screwing over the majority of people and we need to unite and change the way our world is currently being run.

Knowledge is power.

I'm at the point you are at though currently, I'm taking a sabbatical from "the sad stuff".

Most of the people that post about sick crimes due so to stir people to action to revolt and complain to their government officials about these crimes.

Many need to get this off their chest as cheap therapy or to bare witness to and in honor of those poor entities, human and animal that were defenseless, victimized and now forgotten.

Again, skim over the many different forums ATS offers and quickly pass over the ones that might even remotely upset you or go to a garden site, a cooking site, a macrame site, a dog training site..............take a pottery class.

People are trying to change the world for the better by informing the sleepers what is going on.

Denying ignorance is denying ignorance - ignorance is perpetrated by people who either don't know any better or are psychopathic and don't care or find happiness in hurting another.

The most sick crimes..............famine, war, injustice, murdering of innocent children and animals that have no voice.

Who will speak for the victims that have no vote, no voice, that do not matter?

If we all pretend these horrendous acts do not exist, they will continue and escalate.

I appreciate your opening thread, because I understand how hurtful, how depressive and insane a truly sensitive person can be driven to profound sadness by some of these sick crimes listed.

So you must take a break and only concentrate on lighter fare or do something.

I volunteer at a homeless shelter. We are adopting yet another dog (dog #2 that was on death row), I do some shopping for a senior and clean her house a little each week, she lives down the block from me and just lost her daughter.

Make a difference, do something, anything to make this world better for you having been here.

And don't read the forums that might upset you and you have no control of.

Take a break and read some light, inspirational books for awhile.

You are a kind, sensitive person or you wouldn't be starting a thread like this.

These sick crimes bother you..................they should, they should bother us all enough that we get good and darn mad enough to make real changes, not false promised changes but real changes.

Get books that show how we can change our current world situation for the better.

Volunteer at a food pantry or some other organization.

Safe journey.

It's what goes on in this unexpecting world. It's sad but true, most of us may not want to know that people were killed and have the option to ignore it. Others may want to be informed as to why it happened I'm sure most not if all read articles like those to find out the nature of the crime and pay their respects if the lives were innocent. Not to read it because death occurred.

This is not, contrary to what some have dishonestly tried to claim, consistent with the purpose of this forum. ATS is intended to promote insight and genuine education into the reason why the world is the way it is, yes; but in the area of contextual analysis, rather than simply being a place where we can all read about the most brutal and psychopathic murder that happened last week.

You state that ATS is a place to educate each other on why the world is the way it is. I agree, things like this human sacrafice SHOULD NOT be practiced in the time we live in. This is people holding on to beliefs from there past. We are in 2012 a year where a lot of people believe some crazy stuff is going to happen. I myself don't by into the 2012 hype. But for all we know this could have been the reason behind what happened.

Well all the reasons you listed are far from the reason I posted the story. I figured since a lot on this site talks about the ancient Maya and other civilizations who also practiced in it, so I figured that there might have been a connection between the two.

I agree. There is a lot of info being put forth that is absolute rubbish. Ultimately, it is my choice whether or not I want to read the crap. I have mentioned this on numerous occasions, but we have had a large influx of new members in the last 3-4 months. I do notice that the majority of the material you are addressing is coming from such. I think there are also a lot of people posting whatever they can to get flags. In general, there are some people here for all the WRONG reasons.

ATS should NOT be a place for everyone to vent. If you’re having a bad day/life, don’t try to drag me into it. It’s not my fault. There are many pity party web sites out there. Don’t make ATS one of them.

Ahhhh…I don’t think so! A lot of people are here to vent! It’s obvious how bad things are getting in the world. People need someone to take it out on. Why not ATS? I guess it’s better than taking your anger out on your kids in a negative way…

Bad things happen. People are killed, animals are abused, children, you name it. We live in a sick world, it's the reality. It's completely natural for people to want to discuss these things. If you can't handle it, thats on you. It's YOUR call what you read and what you don't read.

it has been my understanding that BTS was rolled into ats some time ago, with the new site redesign. making that a pretty moot point.

in fact. this whole thread is moot. if moderators feel certain threads don't belong on ats then they should remove them. whine threads like this, should be closed. otherwise, drive on through. i mean honestly, this kind of stuff comes up every year, by some know it all who is here to tell us all how ats is "going down the drain" or "quality is drastically decreasing" or "this site is so negative". 8 (6 as a member) years i've watched these threads get made, and yet, the site goes on, quality rises and falls and rises again. but yeah...the OP is soooo right /sarcasm

The fact of the matter is I don't thrive on other peoples misery, and the miserable pathetic life you say I live, because well im going to assume this is directed towards me because of my thread. My life is actually pretty great, not only do I serve in the Marine Corp im also training to become a police officer. I know two profession which most people on here are against but what can I say ive wanted to do both since I was a little kid. So I live a pretty good life and make a differance in peoples lives every day. What do you do?

There is a portion of this website that comes here to find depravity and to be accepted for enjoying it. There are people here that mask their fear by taking a strong stance against "them". There are people here that feel this is a safe place to spout their anonymous racisms to like minded people. There is a portion of the usership of ATS that fully and firmly believe that the more educated you are, the stupider you become.

These are people that cannot be argued with. These are people that do not have the underpinning of rational thought to ground them. They do not understand their realities so they make it up as they go along and ridicule anyone or anything that crosses their limited and skewed perceptions.
