People who are spreading that hoodies are a sign of anything are idiots.

SO VERY TRUE. I soooooo agree with you. The press are making the hoodies a 'thing'. The school I just referenced is making hoodies a 'thing'. That stupid politician tried to make hoodies a 'thing'. Rush and Geraldo tried to make hoodies a 'thing'. They are making those hoodies some kind of symbol and it's sooooooo far from the topic ..... MAJOR distraction of the issues.

ETA .. I'm wearing a brown Hard Rock Boston hoodie right now. NICE!

I think they're just telling kids it's okay to wear hoodies.

No. The school stated it was directly because of the Martin/Zimmerman shooting.

The school has certainly taught the kids something .... jump to conclusions and
ignore the fact that Zimmerman could easily be innocent. WE DONT" KNOW.
The school is teaching mob mentality.

Dude you can show support for a dead minor and not want to lynch Zimmy. Most folks pissed just want a trial not a lynching.

Dude-ette.

The school picked sides without the facts being in. What happens if 'the dead minor' turns out to be a thief who attacked the neighborhood watchman and ended up dead because of it? (I doubt it .. but since the facts are in yet it COULD be). What if Zimmerman turns out to be a victim in all this but those in charge of the school already hyped in the opposite direction? Then where is the school ... they taught kids to jump to conclusions before the facts were in and so they supported someone they shouldn't have.

And as was said .. the school is making the hoodies part of an issue (which is absurd).

Was it the mentally of America in the 20s and 30s to suspect everyone that wore a suit?

Hoodie-Wearing Gunmen Kill 1, Wound 5 in Bobby Rush's Chicago District

Well ?

Did U.S. Congressman Bobby Rush make a "rush to judgement"
the other day when he decided to wear a hoodie right on the floor
of Congress ?

Maybe he started a new "fad" ?

Former Black Panther Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) made quite a fuss when he donned a "hoodie" during a speech in the U.S. House of Representatives until he was escorted out. At the time, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) "applauded his courage" for doing so.

Meanwhile, back home in Rush's district, two men wearing hooded sweatshirts, or "hoodies," were the shooters in an incident that left one dead and five injured.

In fact, during a span of six-hours Thursday night, 13 people were shot, leaving two dead in Chicago. It would seem it takes more courage to simply walk down the street in Rush's district than it does to wear a hooded sweatshirt in the House of Representatives by way of a stunt in a bizarre tribute to a young man shot and killed in Florida during a shooting incident still under investigation.

13 shot, 2 dead in Chicago in six hours Thursday night ...................

Story at Breitbart

Local Chicago Tribune Story

First, the guy who did this is a gang banger who doesn't know who Bobby Rush is from a hole in the wall and most likely can't spell congress. I do not live that far from Englewood and everyone of color even black know that if you are not from there do not go in there, I am not a racist but the Englewood community where this happened is nothing but a huge mess, gangs run it, it is everything you imagine it to be. They do not know any better, they are animals. I remember in High School I went to the Catholic school about 5 blocks from the public Highschool, this is about 15 miles from Englewood on the southwest side of Chicago, the mayor allowed the kids of Englewood to be bussed to the public school and all hell broke out, shootings, fighting, once I was walking home and about 5 black boys were outside the school, took a fu**cking stick and lifted up my skirt as I walked past them, I screamed stop and they chased me, I got away because a CTA bus driver seen this and stopped in the middle of archer ave and let me in, and that didn't stop them they actually started beating on the doors of the bus! this was 2 pm in the afternoon.
I am so sick of this racist bull# that people are crying out. Not you OP just in general.

There are a lot of people wearing hoody’s now that never wore them before. All in support of T. Until we get the facts, people should not come to the conclusion that T was innocent. Hypothetically speaking, if we are to find out that T was the wrongful person in this case, will people who never wore hoody’s before continue to wear them? I like my hoody’s, but I know that if I was wearing one in support of a person who was the perpetrator in this case, I would feel a little embarrassed.

I think I read your post wrong, so forgive me if I took you out of context.

So why would wearing a hoodie embarrass you? It's a piece of clothing, usually worn on days when it's not too cold but not warm enough for a t-shirt. Since it was raining, I would assume that's why he was wearing one.

Would you assume any different? Will you never eat a Skittle again? I don't eat them in the first place but I haven't all of a sudden started eating them now.

I love my hoodie. I'll keep wearing it because I"m not wearing it for the wrong reason in the first place. I really HATE the media. But I really dislike the fact that people would allow this kind of manipulation.

If everyone donned a hoodie, would that mean no-one could tell who the bad guys are

Kind of like if everyone carried a gun.

Would people think twice before doing something bad to another person?

I don't think anyone was ever trying to spread that stereotype. I don't think that had one ounce to do with the shooting. It is just the gimmick for this media circus. Never seen wag the dog?

They did the same thing in the UK years ago, tried to ban the hoodie. I swear governments around the world just have a file of scripts they use and hand off to each other.

Its the blame game, divide and conquer, the ultimate distraction. Dont buy it....

Lady Sovereign did a track about it years ago called "Hoodie"...same old stuff people....

Really??? Grow up. Clothing has about as much to do with the way a person acts as skin color, NOTHING!!!

Don't know if you've ever been out of the South West, but up here in New England, it gets pretty cold, and everyone, just about every single person busts out their supply of hoodies for the winter.

Seriously grow up.

I'm originally from ......

Chicago !!

That's the unofficial headquarters for "gang affiliated attire" !!

I'm not complaining about people wearing hoody's in general. I have a few myself. Like the one poster said about teachers telling the students to wear hoody's in support of T. What will the teacher say to the kids if we find out T was the wrongful person in this case? If she is to tell the kids to support T by wearing hoody's, I think it's only fair that she tell the kids not to wear them if she's wrong. I'm sure she's explained to the children why they should wear them. Do you think she'll explain to the children why not to wear them if T is the perp?

I dont get the hoodie thing. I thought th eonly reason it was even relevant was because Geraldo made some dumb comment via Twitter. My issues with the whole Trayvon thing aside, everyone wears a hoodie (I hate the term hoodie for some reason). Whats next? Socks Geraldo? Every time someone robs a store they are wearing socks?

Also Benevolent Heretic if I were less aware of you and your opinions I would find the edited avatar a little suspect... It looks good though and the dog is beautiful as always.

zimmerman followed trayvon because he looked suspicious, what made him look suspicious? the fact that he was dressed thuggish i.e hoodie. if he was wearing a properly fitting polo shirt, khakis and penny loafers zimmerman probably would have left him alone. thats why i say zimmerman profiled him, the fact that trayvon was a young black male wearing thuggish clothes had a lot to do with the fact that zimmerman called 911. zimmerman said trayvon "looks black" because being from florida i'm sure zimmerman knows that hispanics puerto ricans/dominicans and cubans can also "look black".
