Who knew women's soccer could be so rage inducing!

The 18 year old, Annette McCullough, who is a senior at Lewisville, is being charged as an adult.

Should she had gotten a red card, or criminal charge?


We've all seen incidents like this occur in football games or other soccer matchers (the headbutt from a few years back) is there any difference between that and this?

Players sometimes cant help it when they are focused, pumped, and excited.

IMO, a criminal charge is a little too far.

I think by the looks of being escorted off the field by the official she also received a red card. This was a little more than a simple response to getting tripped. This was became a beat down. And she should have been charged.

She should get arrested in my opinion. The girl that was chasing her never touched her, she simply tripped over the ball or her own foot and thought the other girl tripped her. You don't get up and beat the crap out of someone just because you fell on the field.

Red Card? This wasn't a foul, this was a deliberate beating thrown on the girl and I didn't even see where she actually DID anything to cause the problem in the first place? Maybe a move of the feet too quick for my non-soccer eyes to see, but I don't even see a deliberate trip.

I just see an unbelievable over-reaction by the other girl and given the vicious nature of instantly going into 'beat-down' mode, I agree completely with the aggressor being charged and hopefully doing some local jail time. Perhaps it will help her consider herself before she goes attacking other people over a friggen GAME. sheesh...

The way sportsmanship tends to work, is either you be a bigger person about someone skirting the rules about fouls, or you foul them back.

In hockey, a bad check is usually returned with a bad check, if someone continues to go beyond what is perceived as fair there may be a fight.

In baseball, pitchers can be ejected if thought to be beaning players purposely, and if another pitcher disagrees with what the umpire considered intentional, he may return the favor.

There was no return trip or foul, this was an assault.


That said, regardless, as a high school game, that was completely unacceptable.

It doesn't even look like the girl tripped her

It just looks like she fell and started punching the first person she saw out of anger

That poor girl was only the victim of being tripped. The white man rears his ugly head again, and unfairly crucifies a person of color, guilty only of minding their own business in a healthy competition.

Just watched this on yahoo news not more than 5 minutes ago. Quite a despicable act! Kinda curious as to why she flipped out? I didn't see anything intentional by the girl behind her. However, don't know if there were any underlying circumstances behind the retaliation? I worry about the future...it seems the next generation has not been taught about that little thing called "respect". I think she should be charged with assault. At that age, you know right from wrong and she should have known better.

In all fairness, I'd be curious to know if there is a back story here or if the girl just has anger issues?

I was overwhelmed with satisfaction that this happened to BYU.

The woman footballers are probably tougher then the guys who dive and start rolling around now days.

so should the federal government Prosecute the girl for a hate crime.

From the video she had no reason to behave this way ...

have her arrested for assault...that's what it was. how is this even up for a "discussion".....this had nothing to do with the rules of soccer, penalty cards, or the game. actions have consequences...duh.

I think the president should get involved in this affair. That little girl could look just like his daughter.

When our freshman are 18, BYUs are 20-21.

Forgive me for saying this, as some will want to lynch me for it...but Hate Crime enhancements are just political correct B.S.. I've never seen a violent crime committed in LOVE for the victim, have you? Has anyone?

If the penalty for assault isn't good enough, raise it....but the person BEING assaulted likely doesn't know or care...or get hurt any less by what the motives are. It's still physical injuring another person because you can.

I think the President should say: "If I had a daughter this is what she'd look like" about the girl who got beaten up.

But yes, that girl should be charged. She is 18, that makes her a legal adult.
