I hear Turkey is trying to become an influential power in the middle east region...sour relationship with Israel and now support for Iran's nuclear program!

So Russia,China and Turkey against war on Iran invasion?

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan,

"The government and nation of Turkey has always clearly supported the nuclear positions of the Islamic republic of Iran, and will continue to firmly follow the same policy in the future,"

The best part is

Turkey relies on Iran for 30 percent of its oil imports, and has refused to go along with sanctions imposed by the United States and Europe, saying it will observe only UN-mandated restrictions on Iran. However, Turkey is also a NATO member, and it has agreed to deploy parts of an anti-missile shield that could be used against Iran, a point that has generated friction in the past with its neighbour.

Turkeys get their nuclear weapons by NATO nuclear weapons sharing.

Maybe they'd like their own,as deterrent, of course.(ahem...Libya,Iraq,Afghanistan went smoothly)

That's a very interesting claim however, Turkey's Zaman Newspaper is reporting that

The meeting was closed to the press and no statement has been made regarding its content yet.

The US and Israel share the same position as Turkey. That has never been the issue, and im not sure why people are refusing to acknowledge the issue.

The West, UN etc have all consistently stated Iran has a right to a civilian nuclear program. The issue is the ability, not actual construction, but ability for Iran to make a nuclear weapon (hence the reason enrichment has been front and center). This is why the security section for the NPT / IAEA deals with verification, which is what Iran is consistently dodging.

Anything that has to do with their nuclear program is subject to verification and inspection. Iran is constantly stonewalling the UN on that issue.

This has nothing to do with the peaceful use of nuclear power. It has everything to do with ability to develop a nuclear weapon.

Let's see... Turkey is supporting Iran's nuclear ambitions, even though it is a member of NATO. Turkey seems to be growing closer and closer to iran and it's allies... and Russia.

Now imagine that?

Why that sounds like something I read somewhere. Just like something that was written about 3000 years ago...let me see...hmmm.

Oh ,Yes... I remember...Ezekiel...Ezekiel 38 and 39. In ancient times, some countries mentioned in the Bible were known by the settlers descended from Noah... in Turkey's case... it was Gomer.

Gomer( Turkey) is starting to ally itself with Persia ( Iran )... and eventually Lybia, and Egypt.

But since this is considered prophecy from the Bible, why surely this can not be so. How on Earth can we believe anything from the Bible.

Does anyone foresee a political situation where Israel stands alone...and Turkey, Iran, Lybia, Egypt, Syria, a few of the smaller Muslim countries, and even Russia come together and launch a suprise attack on Israel?

And Israel counters with a tactical nuclear defense just beyond it's borders?

Maybe we should give old Ezekiel and the Lord a liitle more credit. No? Well, you try prophesying political and economic and military world events 3000 years into the future. I'd say Ezekiel has a pretty good batting average so far.

A tactic that didn't work out so well the first half dozen times Arab countries / Soviet Union tried that. Actually had they not gone down that road and had their asses handed to them, we wouldn't be arguing over Gaza, the West Bank or Golan Heights.

Why use history as our guide though... If what you suggest occurs, then I don't see Israel turning back over any more land that they would capture in that conflict. An attack on Israel would cement the response as being justified, since they are defending themselves.

In this day and age its apparent that the world will condemn a country and its actions up to the point that country is attacked, at which point the previous issues take a back seat and those who were originally against are now supporting.

We see this with Syrian and its relations with Russia and China.. The same will occur with Iran... Those countries are only go to back them to a point, and then will cut their losses.
