Seriously?

A thread in good spirit gets mods and members interacting nicely and we have to deal with someone sniping at every single mod every time they speak?

Hell no.

Go find another site to troll.

Banned.

So mods what do you get out of being a moderator on ATS?
A new point of view in my lifelong analysis of how people act and interact with each other.
An occasional "thank you" from a member.
The opportunity of giving an "applause" to a particularly good post.

Are there any perks too being a mod?.
Only the ones I mentioned above.

Do you get paid or get any freebies for your time and effort?
No, it's a voluntary service.

Do you enjoy being a mod?
Yes.

Are there any drawbacks to being a mod?
Nothing is perfect, so yes, mostly not being able to participate in an interesting thread because we had to make some action in that thread.

Also does your ATS page set up look different to us normal members, just like non members ATS page looks different to a members page set up.
Same set up, just some tools to make our work easier.

I have been following this thread since it's birth...and I just wanted to say...I think it is very cool that the mods are open to the members questions!

A lot of members really have no idea what a moderator does and does not do (...like not getting paid for your service to ATS...) and it is interesting all the way through...I've learned a few things I didn't know too!

Awesome thread OP...and awesome contribution mods and members!

Typical.

I make ATS's first and best ever cheese/bratwurst Off Topic analogy and its wasted.....

See...now theres a downside to being a mod...

All too often, it's too much time... But I enjoy it, and one can lose track of the time when having fun.

it's exactly like the masons only we've got a cool "hugshake" instead of a handshake and we wear different shoes.

Is it uncomfortable?

depends on the other person. certain staffers seem to think the hugshake is a chance to get a little too close, if you know what I mean, [size=-4]cough 12make cough

Hmm... I don't want to be off-topic but can I post a quote from Harry Potter here? It's the first thing that came to mind when I started reading this thread

Sirius Black, on why he wasn't made a prefect on his fifth year of school:

“No one would have named me a prefect, I spent too much time in detention with James. Lupin was the good boy, he got the badge.”

From Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

It's nice seeing mods, admins and members have a good time together. It makes me feel good for being a part of ATS

Why be a Mod?

Personally,
I find it rewarding.

Not a day goes by that I don't realize, gain or come to understand more about myself, the world or people in general, here. You, Me, We - the Members.
*'s pretty damn cool*, if you ask me.

There's the 'Community' aspect, as well, which I'm quite certain Many reading this can and Will attest to.

How many times have we seen Members of and from All sides come together in support of another during their time of need, advice, help or what have you(?)

THAT, in and of itself, Is a beautiful thing, in my opinion.

As for the Boards and all ...

I think folks need to be more reticent with their own thoughts, views and opinions, and more openly considerate, tolerant and inquisitive with regards others' at the same time - you can't learn if you're not listening. (?)

just for the record:

when he and I met, in NYC back in '07, I shook his hand, said, "Hello, How ya doin..."

Nothing mOar .. despite that 'Wanting Look' in his eyes.

I'll leave it at that.
