First of all, the Dr. Is the only person at fault here. He is considered the captain, according to health law. He misdiagnosed her.
Second, your delusions about conservatives wanting people dead are just that, delusions. Why don't you google the true margret Sanger and her eugenics agenda, she was a leftist btw, and how they continue this agenda today. There are bad people in every single profession on this planet, and this Dr. Is one of them. There are soooooo many good people in medicine, and they work themselves literally till they are sick. You try watching people suffer day in and day out, then watch them die. I have seen some of the most heroic things happen in hospitals, I have also seen bad things committed by staff and patients alike. Working in ER's will give you PTSD, it's like working in a war zone everyday. You will eventually loose complete faith in mankind.
People should rotate out more often, then that would solve a lot of the burnout/complacency problems like this case.

drug seeker says " I'm in so much pain, it's 10 out of 10! I'm allergic to IBprofen, Asa, etc". Their vitals.... pulse 70, BP 120/80!

Real person in pain. Pulse 140 Bp 160/100.

The Hospital should have been able to tell right away from her base line vitals if she was really in pain.

The cops were told she was clear and safe to leave the hospital.

It's a screwed up system.

It's more than the doctor involved here, the police didn't even have the gumption to put the lady on the bed in the cell. Perhaps they thought it smart to leave her on the ground to see if she got up herself, the 'effer's. All police are trained as first aiders with reviews, and a swollen leg, or legs, at the very least indicates a disability, and no the police did not have to accept a doctor's opinion so readily, and under the circumstances, shoulld have pursued the matter further. Pieces of crap, just like the security guard in the other video from NY. A hospital should be an oasis for saving lives, no matter how desperate life is on the street, a police station is where customers should be treated humanely, with proper care and attention. It was not given...I really don't know what else to say.

I had the same thing happen to me.I was in the emergecy room having appendicitis.There were police flirting with the nurses.I ask the cop to quit flirting and let the nurses do treir job.I was in big pain.The cop who I knew from highschool (he was in the band LOL) made me get dressed and started escorting me out.Well I got P.O.ed
I triped the cop in front and gave him a push.Down he went,The Cop in back tried to put a chock hold on me.I fliped him over on his face and put him in a armlock.I didn't see the other 4 cop's .Well bottom line when the judge heard what went on with the nurses testomiony all I got was three days.Well worth it.

Horrible story I agree, but I'd like to correct one item. It was not an epic fail by the American Health Care, but an epic fail by the individuals involve. Lumping the entire system together like that is dishonest and frankly a bit bigoted. Any time you blame the actions of individuals on an entire group or system they happen to belong to it is wrong.

To also blame all of Law Enforcement is also very wrong. They took the word of an MD for her condition, who clearly told them she was lying. Who do they believe if not the true culprit, the medical staff involved?

As to those who actually were involved, they will pay dearly I'm sure. The Civil Courts is where that will play out. The hospital and the staff involved will settle for huge sums.

Reading the article it seemed the hospital did all they could to check for thrombosis. Often tests will come back negative when people do have an actual condition.
She died due to a combination of factors, some of which were in her control. Nobody really is at fault here.
Sometimes tragedies just happen.

This ought to play out in criminal court as a case of negligent homicide or manslaughter in addition to the proceedings in civil court

It is my opinion that people who dislike the police, are usually NOT law abiding citizens.....but regardless, I feel that the fault is to be on the attending physician only. The police officers did their jobs. They were asked to remove the woman from the premises and they did that. If a doctor releases someone from medical treatment and says they are healthy enough to go to jail, it is the police officers job to take them to jail. If the police had put her on the cot and she had fallen off, it would have been their fault for putting her on the cot. They can't win, because people won't give them the benefit of the doubt, ever.

Police officers are lied to on a daily basis, people tell them they can't walk, they don't speak english, they aren't drunk, they weren't speeding....on and on and on. 9 times out of 10 they can walk, they do speak english, they are drunk and they were speeding!!! It makes me sick to my stomach.

Sooooo if you have a job to do, and you don't do it, do you still get to keep your job? They did their job, they took her to jail. The physician failed her.

As far as drug seekers clogging up hospitals and making Dr's moral police I have a suggestion... treat addicted folks like they are ill, not bad.

Once branded as a "drug seeker" people can have entrails showing and still be turned away by santomonius medical personal. It's not their fault, it's all of ours for making medical issues into legal issues. It hurts us all too as most theft is due to drug dependency, not to mention the violence in the black markets that service this poor demographic.

Most law enforcment officals and the medical establishment agree that it would be smarter and more humane to treat this problem as a medical issue and call off the war on drugs (really war on drug addicted people). It won't happen though as a politician who introduces that bill has given their future opponents the election. More importantly the money spent on the drug war is in the billions and so blood clots will continue to kill folks who want pain relief because one can't risk giving a drug dependent person both pain AND brain relief.

You are oversimplifying Blaine. More than one hospital involved and the lady had an obvious disablity. Was treated improperly by trained police. Quite frankly, I would hope the courts go through both police and hospitals like a physic of salts, and make recommendations to change the working ethos of those parties, and I would also hope that they don't just get hurt by the money, Rather by chucking out the crap. The money is not important, people are. However I do not miss why you sought to include "Huge sums"

Oh, I see. Nice assumption about me...except that I DID work in healthcare for more than a decade, and I have seen how the sausage is made, up close and personal. I've seen the handiwork of incompentent doctors and nurses - first hand. Hell, I was part of it. One day I became disgusted by it all, and I quit my job. I just didn't return to that job. I didn't return my keys, or turn in my ID, I just walked away - forever.
My code of personal ethics was being compromised, and I didn't want to be a part of it any longer.

You don't know me, or anything about me, therefore you have no business lecturing me. ( You'd have no business lectruring me even if you did know me ). I have more direct experience in the care of psychiatric patients than you can shake a stick at, so you can take your presumption of what you think I know and jam it somewhere well out of sight.

You don't get my point at all. The OP was condemning all of the medical system and all law enforcement, rather than just those involved. Even a child knows that is wrong.

When i heard about this, i also immediately thought blood clots when i read she sprained her ankle. I just recently sprained mine pretty bad. Read up on it a lot....

Maybe the doc should have gone to Webmd, like i did, to learn that sprained ankles can lead to blood clots.

Your OP mentioned this was the third hospital. That tells me that 3 sets of doctors, nurses and admin staff failed this case and it caused her death. The cops are unfortunate to being the last place she had to spend her final moments, but SOMEONE CALLED those cops...and I'll bet without even hearing more come out, that the cops weren't presented with her remaining on Hospital Property in any form, as an acceptable choice for them to take. So.... Double doom on the LAST Hospital that literally threw her out to die in a cell.


The world is just going mad. No compassion...No empathy and no human decency left. It isn't EVERYONE, Thank God, but it's enough of a % to make life a different thing than it was in previous times.

So true....especially with all the "in the news" cases, and families sueing physicians for prescribing narcotics, which the patients abuse. I have see this first hand....these "patients" come in, and they are apparently "allergic" to every known pain med....except vicodin, morphine etc.... Sadly though, it makes it tough on the ones who really need it. The ER staff can spot them a mile away.But sometimes they are wrong.

I hate this kind of misinformation. My own personal blood pressure runs 90/60 normally, low yes but normal for me. 120/80 is high for me, 160/100 is stroke level for me. I've had to prove it to many doctors, so I actually carry my own BP meter with me and show them the readings, with dates and times listed. I also run around 55-60 resting pulse rate, so if its up around 80-90, there's something going on.

And if you think someone shouldn't get upset about being called a drug seeker, put yourself in MY shoes for a few minutes, and perhaps you will change your mind.

No offense, just want folks to see it from the other side.
