After studying the issue thoroughly there is a simple answer to your question. According to the prophesies of the old and new testament they are supposed to be there now. And some very old business is being finished up.

But here is a quick summary.

In the 900 BC era King Solomon did a stupid thing. He worshiped an idol at the prompting of one of his pagan wives.

In return his God slapped his descendants with a curse. His descendants were to lose rulership of all the tribes of Israel except for Judah.

And then a new problem developed. After the split into the kingdoms of Judah and Israel both sides fell away from their God and worshiped idols. And committed other sins. Eventually in 720 BC Israel was overrun and taken away as slaves by the Assyrians. And in 604 BC the Jews were taken away by the Babylonians.

And per Ezekiel 4 what had happened was that Israel had been hit with a 390 year top level Leviticus 26 curse. And the Jews had received a 40 year curse. And eventually the Jews were restored and they rebuilt their temple.

Then we get to 25 AD and Jesus Christ and John the Baptist. What the Jews were expecting was a Messiah that was supposed to restore the Israelites and reform the Israel of Solomon. And it would appear that Jesus Christ was there to do exactly that. But then there was a horrible snag. John the Baptist was killed. That wasn't supposed to happen. And that was the trigger for the curse of Malachi.

What is the curse of Malachi? It's a 2000 year top level Leviticus 26 curse. And by my best guess it'll be over by May of 2028 at the absolute latest.

And this leaves the middle east in the strangest situation that you could imagine. The Jews are supposed to be there for the end of the curse but the Muslims surrounding them are absolutely going to freak when they realize this detail.

According to Genesis 48 and 49 the Jews and the Israelites are supposed to be a multitude of nations by the end times. When Greater Israel is reunited. The Muslims are Israelites. Which means that they are as cursed as the Jews at present and when they work it out they are supposed to join with the Jews and create Greater Israel with them.
