This new species of giant venomous wasps were found on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi.

Normally, wasps are about an inch long, these guys go up to 2.5inches! ouch!

Article

Its these type of discoveries that always fills me with hope. Always new things being discovered on earth. Goes to show how much we little know about the planet we call home, let alone, the universe that we know almost nothing about.

Mate, those things look scary!!

Its just amazing these insects, and how many there still seems to be that is undiscovered. New species seem to evolve rapidly, wich is exciting.

The awkward moment when one of those lands on your face...

What a monster. The second pic reminds me of a xenomorph.

Yikes. I nearly plotzed the first time I saw the 1.5 inch monsters near the river in Calgary. Fortunately, I've only ever seen those through thick glass on the 11th floor of the building I worked in. Even seeing the small guys gives me palpitations! We have a history.

As afraid as I am of spiders, I am even more afraid of wasps and hornets, they are nasty and curious and I am allergic to them. The biggest I have ever seen are the cicada killers. Fortunately I see very few of those and as big as they are, they seem least likely to harass humans.

Oh my I took a second look at the photo and well....not fair! Killer mandibles? As if the other end weren't already bad enough!

Yeah...you think yelling ''KILL IT WITH FIRE!!'' when you spot one but they'll probably evolve to be fireproof

Hope!?!?!? It fills me with dread.

I wonder how it would fare against the Japanese wasp though. The Japanese ones may be smaller, but they are MEAN!!!!!

Perhaps we'll see that match up on Japanesebugfights.com
