Simon Ledger says he fears he will end up with a criminal record for performing the 1974 disco classic at a seafront bar on the Isle of Wight on Sunday after two people walking past apparently took offence.
The 34-year-old, from the island, regularly features Carl Douglas’s 1974 number one hit in his set when he performs at the Driftwood Beach Bar in Sandown.
But after striking up the melody in front of customers at the weekend he noticed a man of Chinese origin walking past with his mother, making gestures at him and taking a picture on his mobile phone.
He said that he later received a telephone call from police - while he was dining in a Chinese restaurant - asking him to meet officers about the incident.
He was then arrested and questioned before being bailed.
The ten-year-old from Irlam, Greater Manchester appeared before Salford Youth Court charged with racially abusing a fellow pupil.
He had been accused of calling the other boy names such as 'Paki' and 'Nigger'. The boy had admitted using one racial insult, but said that that the other boy had called him 'white trash'.
The court heard that the boys were now friends who played football with each other.
Judge Jonathan Finestein said that he thought the decision to prosecute the boy was "crazy" and urged the Crown Prosecution Service to drop the case.
He said: "Have we really got to the stage where we are prosecuting 10-year-old boys because of political correctness?"
I think the tweet was before the incident.
Twitter troll Liam Stacey has been jailed for posting racist tweets about footballer Fabrice Muamba after the midfielder collapsed from a heart attack during a match.
Millions watched in horror as Bolton player Muamba collapsed on the pitch during an FA Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday March 17.
But Stacey, a 21-year-old student from South Wales, took to Twitter to write: "LOL. [SNIP] Muamba. He's dead!!!"

Freedom of speech means freedom to offend. Even though it happened in the UK, I still feel freedom of expression should prevail in any country.

for the people who think this kind of behaviour in this thread is fine and free speech should be allowed
feel free to google "Bradford Riots" thats what happens when you let this kind of free speech loose in flashpoint areas
now unless you live with your head in the clouds or are completley oblivious to such racial tensions
such speech that has this kind of reaction should be made illegal
for all the "i will say what i want as i have freedom of speech"
you go into 1 of these racially tense areas and excercise your free speech against a minority/people who are diffrent from you
see how that goes for you
sorry to say but a few of the replies on this topic have been absolutley absurd in my eyes
maybe britain should go back to "if your not white bugger off home" but of course some ppl on here have never had to live through that so wont know what point im trying to make

Teenager faces prosecution for calling Scientology 'cult'
If there’s any doubt that the enforcement of political correctness in the U.K. is turning ordinary citizens into criminals, a 15-yr-old youth was issued a criminal summons after he had written on a sign that Scientology was a cult.
Police confiscated his protest sign at a demonstration against the Church of Scientology at their headquarters in London and then issued him a criminal summons. According to the British newspaper the Guardian, the 15-yr-old had written on a sign: “Scientology is not a religion, it is a dangerous cult”. The police called it “abusive and insulting”.
