Another thread was posted just over an hour ago in the Fragil Earth forum.....

Flashing lights/strange colours reported over West Scotland.

That thread based off twitter reports.

Interesting. If they are connected then it's probably something in space.

It could only be local, there is nothing high in the sky in the southwest, except of course the trio of Saturn, Jupiter and the Moon, but they are right in your face. There are/were a couple of NEO's, 0.4 and 0.2 LD today according to Spaceweather.com, but they would be moving, and I don't know if they would have been visible.

Yeah.... I want some more details before I put my tin foil hat on and start to celebrate first contact with the little green men...

Interesting though that it seems that this isn’t the first sighting off strange lights over the UK tonight and in that direction. But lets not get too ahead of ourselves this is probably not ET, could be a coincidence, some atmospherical disturbance or a experimental aircraft, there are probably hundreds of possibilities but even so I want to keep a watch on this thread to see if it turns into something interesting.

I think its probably a star, the sky (in the north east) is so clear tonight everything looked so vivid, so maybe a usually dim star is shining that bit brighter.

I have to say that it does look very close somehow. As in inside our atmosphere.

Could be. But even if it's a star that can be seen clearly because of an exceptionally clear sky, wouldn't it still be big news that its luminosity has gone up so much?

I'm in Devon. Just looked out the window and can see Sirius flickering a variety of different colours to the Southwest. It's pretty bright!

If the object you're seeing doesn't move, it's likely to be Sirius

Arqiva, the company which has engineered the UK's digital switchover project (DSO), is installing more than 6 tonnes of lighting equipment on the tower in readiness for the light show at 9.15pm on 18 April.

But it's not the 18th of April yet. Unless I it starts today.

True but they could just be testing the lights. I remember I once saw lights shining in the sky, I couldn’t work out what it was but it turned out it was due to a football stadium 15 miles away testing out new lights.

All I am saying its lets not jump the gun....

If you go to STELLARIUM and plug in your location date and time....you can see what is in the skies above you.

it is a free program and rather amazing...you can look at history too...

Fair enough. As of now that is a possibility.

Thank you for letting me know about that. I'm downloading it right now. Seems like a valuable piece of software.
