Do you ever leave your home? Do you suffer from agoraphobia. I ask because you are showing so much fear at even making a move to help yourself.

If you have a computer and access to the internet over the next year or so, you can make and sell crafts on the internet, there's alot of sites that cater to handmade items like Etsy.com and it's really easy to set up an account with paypal or similar methods. I'd be willing to bet if you posted that story with your items, you would probably sell something. You'd be surprised what you can make out of stuff that folks throw away.
Also, don't be scared to ask people for employment, you'd be surprised how many small businesses and regular folks will let you sweep a floor, clean windows, or split some firewood for some money. Around here in the fall months for example, a man could make some serious money with a yard rake and an amiable personality. Just a few suggestions, but a little elbow grease and initiative goes a long way when you're working from the bottom up.

I don't know your situation obviously, but my first step would be trying to find a family member or a good friend willing to let you stay with them. There's a wealth of social programs available for people in your situation, the local department of social services is a treasure trove of information in that regard and there's alot of ways they can help you get into a public housing program. If that's not an option, get out of the city and just go 'camping'. You can camp out in the national parks for a certain length of time before you have to move to another location.
Alot of places have camping sites you can rent for a really decent rate, especially in the off-seasons for toursts, and there's a alot of restraunts, cruise ships, and resorts that will provide room and board to you while you are employed. You said your reasons for being homeless was 'embarassing', so I don't know if you that's an option for you or not, but keep your chin up. Being homeless is hard, damned hard, but there's millions of folks out there right now having to go through the same thing, giving up or not giving up is what's going to make the difference.

If you have at least a year to plan then what's the problem? what else is going on? Even a simple fast food job can yield amazing results. My wife got hired at a fast food place as a server. Less than two years later and now she runs her very own store. She's the boss now, because she worked her butt off and had a great attitude, even through the tough times. As a previous poster said, Job Corps. is a great program, got one in my town and heard nothing but good things from people that were involved. This one's a little more exotic but how about Peace Corps.? One of my dad's friends joined it for a few years just to get away, he told me that when his time was over they gave him a check for a few grand on top of it. The military is also a very good career choice, contrary to what some people think, there are other jobs besides combat infantry. If you are still thinking about going the homeless route then do some research and find a city in a nice climate that has good programs. Here's a link to a list I read not too long ago, it's got some good pointers for street survival...

Top ten things you need to survive the streets

Good luck on whichever path you choose.

Personally, I'd join the military. But if you don't want to do that, you'll never go hungry. Check out something called "dumpster diving". Link and one about food link.

LOL...the OP starts a thread stating something pretty serious in the title. I may be homeless. Gives no background, and what little we can pry out of him, is like pulling teeth. I think the OP is waiting for one of us to say...come live with me, I'll take care of you forever.

He is getting some well thought out information, and not even considering it. What a shame.

Im serious when I say: GO VOLUNTEER.

It does wonders on one's psychi!! Seeing people who are in much worse situations than yourself and knowing you are helping someone else does wonders for your self esteem and confidence. It also gets your mind active and gets you off your butt and the computer.

With that said...there are jobs out there.....but if you have some social anxiety, go see a professional.

But sitting here on ATS is NOT going to help you in any way shape or form.

Even staff need to take breaks to let the mind rest and to be back to real life....

Stop being lazy and get a job or create one mow lawns do handyman work fix computers etc. put an ad on craigs list. Joining a catholic monastery so you would always have something to eat and a roof over your head is the worst reason ever to join one you will hate in short order. You need to be extremely committed to their religious ideals to even have a chance of making it in a place like that and many who are still can't hack it.

Buck up and start earning your keep. Its a nice fantasy to think you don't have to work for a living but it is just that a fantasy. Plus dealing with your problems and challenges will make you a better person. Avoiding them will make you a loser who hates life. Now get to work and stop looking for an easy way out there is none, everyone has to play the hand they are dealt.

The reason why i said Catholic monastery was because about 2 years ago when i was a true Catholic i visited one for about a month, didn't have to pay for food or anything just the cost to get there. It was a very good and peaceful experience. Folks there are always happy and at peace, they dont have to worry about being fired from a job or any other problem people in the real world have to face..

I know that if i were to join ill have to work a few hours a day and pray thats basically it, im reffering to contemplative and cloistered monasteries, they also have recreation on sunday's for a few hours.. the bad thing is no tv or computer or contact with the outside world etc

I dont like playing the hand i got dealt dam ..

What is disgusting is the fact that you have a grown man who can't wipe his own ass.. I've been on my own since i was 16 years old.. I went to the military I've made a fortune and lost it... I work my ass off to support my kids and I don't moan and cry about it.

He is sitting around upset because his parent have had enough of his laziness and want him to spread his wings and he wants to cry about it talking about killing himself... pathetic.. everyone dies eventually and there are people who have no clue about the luxurys this BOY has experienced.

For you to support him is pathetic.. this is why these people never take care of themselves because they can put their hands out and people like you encourage it by giving them money when what they really need is a boot in there ass and maybe to starve for a while to understand what it is like to be poor.

I have eaten trash out of dumpsters.
I have shoveled crap for three dollars an hour.
I have worked 18 hour days working a shovel for 8 dollars an hour.
I have lived out of my car.

I worked.
I used my brain to do better.
I did it myself.

If i was given everything i ever needed sure i would rather sit around in a crappy basement surfing porn online and going to conspiracies sights too...

THIS ENTIRE POST IS PATHETIC HE DOESN'T WANT ADVICE HE WANTS PEOPLE TO FEEL SORRY FOR HIM BECAUSE HIS MOM WON'T ANY MORE..

What a disgusting attitude.

Don't try to be mean, or anything,
but.....
Based on what I see on your responses to well meaning posters, you seem to be too lazy for any type of job.
(reminder, YOU described YOURSELF as too lazy)

You are 21 year young guy, still have money to plan things out, but nothing is good enough?

What exactly is it that you want?
And what is it that you want from the forum members?

Or- are you bored and just trolling?

Then what you need is a fifth option to consider. Dodger. I won't say more on that so that you don not lose your thread.

Yeah dude, let's start a hippie commune. I have hot chicks interested in doing that. Ya got a zillion options, not just 3. I'm in the same boat. I have friends who are wealthy and live in sunny Southern California. I have told them of my plan to become homeless and live in the alley that runs behind their houses. They said they would put out extra good trash for me to sort through. So I have a retirement plan now. I just spent my last retirement dollar last night. I'm still up for a job fixing xray machines, networking computers, driving spaceships, digging ditches, picking up roadkill, whatever.

It really depends, if you have any resource or not.Iv seen people able to get a piece of land with a really small amount of money :

Worst case scenario : moving in rural areas, getting some jobs in exchange for food and housing, get to know the area and in the future identify yourself some really cheap plot of land you can get with small cash.
