Venus and Jupiter?

That's what I'm thinking.

Jupiter is on top and I think that's Venus on the left.

I saw this too, and thought it was breathtaking. I'm pretty sure the bright one above the moon is Venus. The one to the lower left is Jupiter.

On this I could be mistaken, but I'm almost positive that's the case. Either way, made for a heck of a evening sky, no?

Venus is on top and Jupiter is to the left. Google Sky tells me so.

I have decent gear, sucks in the town centre though thanks to street lighting.

I took these two photos today in the UK:

Venus top, Jupiter left, Moon right:

And a closeup of the Moon:

Wow! Great close-up of the moon! What kind of gear did you use? I am a hobby photographer and my favorite things to photograph are things in the sky like the moon! I wanted to get a new camera but without being able to "test" them at the store on things like the moon I am not sure what to get when my tax-return comes! Also what kind of settings did you use? Thanks

Canon EOS400D, various lenses. I have a scope mount for it somewhere, if I could only find the damn thing.

I'm really just a beginner when it comes to photography, I'm in the learning stages. I take several shots with each lense, various ISO/aperture/shutter settings, then pick the best. For shots of the sky, a tripod is a must.

EDIT: Here is the beasty, 10.1MP, and various stuff I use (taken on my not so good HTC phone!):

Have to agree with the majority here. Venus is on top and Jupiter at the bottom! I see them both every night when I walk to work...it's amazing to say the least!

Great pics by the way!

I have been watching them too,

Is this something that hasn't happened in a longtime or did I never notice it?

I am assuming it has to do with rare alignment coming up this year?
