Sometimes they go to far, kill the wife and blame it on honour (she did something to dis-honour me so I killed her)

Well, you may well be right, but how does that explain the following?

15 year old Turkish girl was buried alive for talking to boys by her father and grandfather.

Daughter pregnant by rape, killed by family

A Turkish court sentenced five members of the same family to life imprisonment for the "honour killing" of Naile Erdas, 16, who got pregnant as a result of rape, activists said Monday.

Muslim Family in Montreal Killed Their Three Teenage Daughters Because They Had Boyfriends

There does seem to be more to it than men getting carried away. Certainly if the family is involved in the murder.

You are a racist and you're talking claptrap. Asian is not synonymous for Muslim anywhere other than in your little mind. Stop being an arse and start to think rationally before you cause more harm.

You are also unable to read since you ask if I live in Britain, when I saw I do, and ask if i've lived in Asian and Muslim rich areas when I say I have. Dumb dumb dumb.

I know Slough and High Wycombe very well (lived in Marlow for a long time) and indeed they have highly dense area's of Asian Indian / Pakistani people. Near where I am now is Southall another very highly populated Asian area of those nationalities I've mentioned before and I must say I've never had a problem in any of them, Southall is actually more pleasant than many of what might be termed middle class white area's.

South Harrow which is around the corner from me (literally) is a mainly Sri Lankans and hardcore Muslims who DO give people a hard time, I have already said my wife myself and my daughter come under regular abuse from the Asian Pakistani Muslims. Sadly there are parts of the UK that have become minor Asian Muslim strongholds, now the idea of a stronghold isn't new, there have been many white and Asian strongholds over the years in the UK but I have to say I've found these Asian Muslim area's far more intimidating to be honest, in the other places you would get say a park that was classed as white or Asian only but in these Asian Muslim area's you can be warned simply for walking down the road.

It a rough old world...

Steady on there Pierre.

You are a bit keen to call someone a racist.

The poster stated that the word 'Asian' is used by the media instead of the word that everyone else uses - 'Muslim'.

Two posters beside myself have stated that as a fact. Yet you fly off the handle and call one person who states that a racist.

Perhaps you should pull your horns in a little. After all, you would ridicule an English person living in France who tried to contradict a number of Frenchmen who had stated how the French media used words.

By the way, the poster also stated that he had been racially abused by radical Muslims.

To state that doesn't make him a racist. It makes him a victim of racism.

I sure most do.

However, what some Muslims think and what they tell you are not neccessarily the same thing. In fact, how stupid would you have to be, living in the UK, to admit to an interviewer that you supported honour killings?

Yet a number of people in the BBC survey did so.

I think you are missing the point, we the people in the UK use the right description but the UK press seems unwilling to use the word Muslim so use Asian instead so not to offend a radical (oh the irony).

I am not. The point is that Asian in the UK is used to group together a vast number of peoples. Mainly from India and surrounding countries.

A lot of Indians, who are referred to as Asians in the UK are a) not Muslim, b) don't carry out honour killings.

So to state that there is a "hidden" use of the term Asian to describe a Muslim is claptrap.

The press may be scared to use the term Muslim, but in every case they are referring to origin, not religious stance when describing the people's carrying out the honour killings, and guess what? They ARE Asians as per the term used to define them in the UK.

Yes and you also stated that in the UK the word Asian is a hidden term for Muslim, it isn't. Shall we continue to dance? Do you not see the issue here? If you continue to push this agenda ahead, what about all the Asians who aren't Muslims? You're grouping them together, hence the spreading hate. You are just as bad as those you wish to point out as being nefarious parts of the UK's society. White supremism comes to mind, racism also.

You are a victim of racism yes, you are also, by his wishing to use a term which has never been synomymous with another, being somewhat racist.

Thank you for the geography lesson.

I don't know the ethymological roots of the use of the term Asian to describe people from India, nor frankly do I care.

You're making a rather silly point there, if anything you're ridiculing the entire British people for using the "wrong" term. Base and rather pointless don't you think?

British people rarely use the term Asian. Yet the media almost invariably uses that term to describe a Muslim who has committed a crime.

I really don't get your issue here, the British media does deliberately avoid the word Muslim and use a one size fits all Asian instead, that makes it a hidden meaning for Muslim..

Yes we all know Asian encompasses a huge scale of people, to be honest the people who in the British public use the word Asian is that they have been too lazy to find out where they are from, the others are just ignorant people, the sort of people who call everyone a 'Paki' even though the person is from India, there's also no need for the disgusting use of it despite the term actually is technically correct.

I personally only refer to a persons religious status is they indicate it, ie I don't greet a friend and say 'hello my Muslim friend'. The average UK person is well aware who or what a Muslim is, they do not call them Asians unless they have no clue of there origin.

Sadly the media is frightened to upset the radicals and refuse to use the word Muslim just the same as they try and avoid using Muslim and Terrorist together, I believe Scotland Yard banned any statements using those together.

So, at the end of the day its exactly what a few of us have been telling you, Asian IS the replacement word for Muslims of Asian decent (read that as of Pakistani decent normally) for the media, that's a cold hard fact.

If you wish to keep on denying this then fine but it really just comes across as some sort of ego test.

Firstly, it is renowned and humility, you plebeian. tsk tsk tsk.

And I must admit, knowing you are English, I was waiting for this.

I was born in France, grew up in Australia and moved to the UK at the age of 7. I've been here ever since, 33 years. I have a BSc, an MSc and know the difference between you're and your.

Not that it is any of your business, but since you want to play that card to attempt to validate your point because of the assumption that I don't know English or haven't lived in England for what you deem is long enough.

TL; DR? get over yourself Ollncasino

Three British people on ATS all agreeing still does not mean you're right. However I ,at the very least, am not playing the race card to argue my point. Does the fact I do not have, nor want, an English passport make my point of view any lesser? For all we know you and the other three "muppets" here could be National Front.. right?

So do me a favour, don't be condescending.

English people don't use the term Asian? So how many people, of white skin, do you know that call people Indian and Pakistani? Seriously?

For a start 90% can't tell the difference. You also seem to forget that the "Asians" you're discussing are of differing religion, stats for India
HINDUISM - about 82%

ISLAM - about 12%

CHRISTIANITY - about 2.5%

SIKHISM - about 2%

BUDDHISM - about 0.7%

JAINISM - about 0.5%

ZOROASTRIANISM - about 0.01%

JUDAISM - about 0.0005%

If YOU want to call them Muslims, do so. If you profess that the main stream media is using the term Asian because they fear using the term Muslim, ok on that point I may agree.

Do not stand there however and tell me that everyone in the UK is using the term Asian because they really mean Muslim, that is farking rubbish and you know it and THAT is the point I'm contesting. It is what you state the "English" people do or do not do with regards use of the term Asian. You are either living in a bubble, racist, deluded or living under the deepest darkest rock, ie Hull.

And the xenophobic English versus French routine comes out.

I could laugh at England being run by a German royal family (the irony always tickles me), or having had a French king ruling you, or having lost the US to the Americans helped by the French, or that the English identify is almost annihilated, (you eat Indian or Italian, you drive German or American, you watch TV on Japanese or Korean, you sit on Swedish etc.. etc..) but why go there.. oh that's right, it's because it is an English trait to consistently hate everyone and think you're superior to all. *cough*

I laughed and am still laughing hard at the pair of you also.

My usage is correct.

Look it up - I did to just double check. If you want to be a grammar Nazi, don't correct people for grammar usage that is correct.

By the way, I have a bit more than a BSc and an MSc. But if brandishing your degrees makes you feel better.

You appear to have reading comprehension problems. I clearly stated that the media uses the term 'Asian' to describe Muslims who have been accused of a crime.

That was the whole point. You appear to have spectacularly missed it.

I'm sorry for this.I only wish I could escort you myself so you could see how real Americans should behave.Though if you did actually see me I think it might scare you, again, sad.But I don't want you struck by anyone and it would anger me to see anyone strike you,MY honor would depict itself in defense of a victim. Not like the government at all.
Yet I am military,my brother is a detective my Father was an Air Force officer, I was Cavalry(I hear they HATE scouts over there) .Yes mine is a young country....that is the current primary superpower.Yes we are good warriors who are CONSTANTLY misused and abused.
But after all that I NEVER struck my EX wife.Even after she would use her Tie Kwan do I would never close my fist.
I did slap her seven times but three of those don't count because I was putting her hair out after she lit it on fire, she was an....emotional Korean woman.
But the point is YOU DON'T BEAT UP FEMALES much less kill them.Nothing makes it right what ever ME or my people have done NOTHING makes that correct behavior.Damn any tradition or culture who says so including any of my own.

How did you disarm them? Or stop them from commiting suicide with a knife.
I wasn't dealing with a normal person she would escalate and required a slap to bring her back to her senses.I still hated doing that and no s##t slapping is still abuse.
Had she been married to a traditional arab muslim (impossible but just saying for example) she would be dead.

Having done both (disarming women and stopping quite a few from suicide attempt's ) I used C&R techniques so I didn't hurt them nor slapped them but I was trained so I guess if you wasn't ok kudos to you.
