I've been observing this thread since the beginning and it's quite interesting what has happened since this thread was started. First, it was a calm, rational discussion with viewpoints from both sides. Then, that turned into some of the pro-gay marriage crowd overreacting and saying things about how people should "stay out of my bedroom" and "who are they to tell us who we can and can't be with?" even though the thread topic had nothing to do with either one of those things. Then, that turned into some of the pro-gay marriage crowd resorting to personal attacks, name calling and purely overcharged emotional reactions which has blown this all out of proportion entirely.

IMO, just from watching this thread and trying to take in everyone's viewpoint, I find that the pro-gay marriage crowd is doing a good job of alienating me. I don't even feel like it's a discussion anymore, it's more like an attempted force feeding and you know what that's going to get you? The exact opposite reaction. I think that stuff makes your cause look bad if some can't even reel in their emotions for five minutes and participate in a rational discussion about a topic that is important to many on this thread. The name calling and all is just bad and so are the personal attacks. The only ones judging are the ones accusing, they know who they are in this thread.

I've watched many threads go from civil, intelligent discussion right into a war of words and mod intervention to close the thread. This one is getting close to that, so can't you guys play nice? All this over a word. It all seems so silly. Homosexuals have equal rights pertaining to this, but that's not really what you're after since it's already been done. The ONLY difference is "marriage" vs. "civil union". That's it and this is what the conversation turns into? No wonder we can't get anything done in this country. People can't stop hating others long enough to be productive in important discussions. I feel like I'm being turned away from the pro camp at this point since *some* of you can't control your emotions long enough to properly convey what you're even trying to say. It just makes your side look silly, I'm sorry, but it does and it gives me no pleasure to say that.
edit on 26-3-2012 by Kratos1220 because: correction

It gets personal because it affects people personally. Unless you are against it in which case it doesn't affect you in the slightest and are just trying to protect your own version of what you think life and marriage are.

Must make them feel like big tough people to have control of others like that.

Well the member is obviously revelling in being able to control others so I would imagine they're feeling very good about themselves.

Seeking clarification of a post doesn't make a member stupid at all.

I'm saying that it seems that particular member is happy to control others by arguing to disallow a harmless freedom by branding it harmful and appearing as chuffed with themselves as a schoolyard bully after a punch up where the smaller kid gets a bloody nose.

Hey, dont have a go at me if common sense isn't being used. I am concerned with one thing and there is no reason that we cannot use common sense in it's implementation.

If it turned out that the world would end or society would collapse I would back right away and never say another word about it but the world will not end because of it and society will not collapse.

You are concerned with people not being allowed to do things such as this guy in his castle or people having to do things such as christians marrying gays in church.

Surely we can excercise common sense when new laws are introduced?

You're attacking the wrong thing.

No different then the KKK in the south pushing their belief on blacks.

Well - - we know what direction that went in Civil Rights. And Gay Civil Rights - - is moving forward.

Can't change Bigoted Bullies lack of brains - - - but One-by-One laws will be changed to ensure full legal rights for Gays as well.

Gay marriage thrown out by all 31 U.S. states where it has been put to vote

Voters in the U.S. state of Maine yesterday rejected a law allowing same-sex 'marriage'.

It means such unions have now been refused in all 31 states where the issue has been put directly to the electorate.

D aily Mail

Voters have rejected gay marriage in 31 states.

Where is the suport for gay marriage that the pro-gay pressure groups make so much noise about?

Some people are just lazy and don't go out and vote on the issue. It's the haters that come out to vote against it. They think they have more "to lose", so they're more active. The masses who don't care if gays get married, don't really have anything to lose either way, so they don't go out to vote.

Interracial marriages were also rejected in the majority of states, until a case reached the U.S. Supreme Court. The SC ruled that it was unconstitutional to ban interracial marriage, so all states were forced to allow it. Did America come to an end after that? Nope.
