IMO, just from watching this thread and trying to take in everyone's viewpoint, I find that the pro-gay marriage crowd is doing a good job of alienating me. I don't even feel like it's a discussion anymore, it's more like an attempted force feeding and you know what that's going to get you? The exact opposite reaction. I think that stuff makes your cause look bad if some can't even reel in their emotions for five minutes and participate in a rational discussion about a topic that is important to many on this thread. The name calling and all is just bad and so are the personal attacks. The only ones judging are the ones accusing, they know who they are in this thread.

I've watched many threads go from civil, intelligent discussion right into a war of words and mod intervention to close the thread. This one is getting close to that, so can't you guys play nice? All this over a word. It all seems so silly. Homosexuals have equal rights pertaining to this, but that's not really what you're after since it's already been done. The ONLY difference is "marriage" vs. "civil union". That's it and this is what the conversation turns into? No wonder we can't get anything done in this country. People can't stop hating others long enough to be productive in important discussions. I feel like I'm being turned away from the pro camp at this point since *some* of you can't control your emotions long enough to properly convey what you're even trying to say. It just makes your side look silly, I'm sorry, but it does and it gives me no pleasure to say that.

It gets personal because it affects people personally. Unless you are against it in which case it doesn't affect you in the slightest and are just trying to protect your own version of what you think life and marriage are.

Must make them feel like big tough people to have control of others like that.

That's funny, because earlier in this thread, one of the mods here who is homosexual came right out and said just that. He said that homosexuals already have equal rights on this topic and that this whole debate over what it's called is silly. So, is he anti-gay? See, it's remarks like that. I have said nothing to suggest I am "anti-gay" and, as a matter of fact, have said quite the opposite earlier in the thread.

Yet, it is the minority who are trying to dicate to the majority by attmepting to force everyone to change the tradtional definition of marriage to include same sex unions.

Gays already have equal rights with gay civil unions. That apparently isn't enough. We are now expected to change the legal meaning of the word marriage to please them.

I hope Newt's little new trophy wife leaves his racist, homophobic ways after she finds out he disowned his own sister for being a lesbian. I hope you right wingers are happy now, running to a judge and paying him off worked to your advantage in california. But come november Obama will STILL be president, newt just opened his racist remarking mouth about the trayvon case, couldn't help himself, this for sure WILL cost him the nomination.
