Thanks for the support Annee, The "WRONG wingers" are trying to gang up on me like they do to others who are different from them. Which I have to say on this site is WRONG, and here I thought this site WAS about "denying IGNORANCE". I guess I was wrong about this websites motto.

I honestly do not understand why there are so many Right Wing Christians on ATS. (or even non-religious Right Wingers).

But I can tell you in the few years I have been on ATS - - - there has been a positive turn toward supporting Gays and Gay Rights - - including Gay Marriage.

So even though you are getting "hits" right now - - be assured the other side is losing.

I'm not gay - but have been supporting gay rights for 20+ years.

I back you 100% Annee, you are right 100% and the "WRONG wingers" aren't going like the fact that more & more are standing against them, & fighting back. Like ANONYMOUS & Wikileaks just to mention 2 HUGE groups are standing & fighting back. I back the LBGT, I am for PRO - CHOICE, Women's RIGHTS ( protecting their issues to their own health choices), I stand against the ones who keep spewing anti - gay venom on this site. I stand against the bullying tactics they are using (cyber bullying is ILLEGAL ONLINE), I stand against the slanderous things they say about LBGT. I stand against the intolerance I'm seeing on this site.

There are a lot of young people on ATS.

I suspect many are still influenced by their past generation parents and current experience.

I remember when I was Young - Idealistic - - - and very much affected by my immediate surroundings.

Life is Journey! I've gone through many "incarnations" in this life time alone.

Hang Tough!

In the last 48 hours another 8,000 people have signed the petition against gay marriage (309,938 signatures)

Coalition For Marriage

How is that pro-gay marriage petition going. A couple of days ago it had just over 33,000 signatures. It must have at least 35,000 by now.

So What!!!!

Who the hell do they think they are - - and what right do they think they have - - to deny this simple human right.

Bunch of Damn Self-Righteous Bullies. Someone needs to investigate each and every one of their "closets".

Where? Disagreeing with changing the legal meaning of marriage to include gay civil unions is "spewing anti - gay venom"?

You should get out more.

I saw the headline and was about to comment Only in america. Ha Seams on average us British are just as bad

By the way I don't understand why gay people would want to be part of a church that doesn't accept them? If that god says what they are doing is wrong when it is clearly natural, then why bother with it? Its not like its real anyway.

There are many Christian churches that accept gays.

There is even a Catholic gay church in downtown Los Angeles. Of course the Priest was excommunicated - - - but he doesn't care. He says "No one should have to give up their faith" - - that is not what God is about.

So - - the number of ignorant self-righteous bigots is on the decline. They're just scared of losing control and flexing their puny muscles.

I've been observing this thread since the beginning and it's quite interesting what has happened since this thread was started. First, it was a calm, rational discussion with viewpoints from both sides. Then, that turned into some of the pro-gay marriage crowd overreacting and saying things about how people should "stay out of my bedroom" and "who are they to tell us who we can and can't be with?" even though the thread topic had nothing to do with either one of those things. Then, that turned into some of the pro-gay marriage crowd resorting to personal attacks, name calling and purely overcharged emotional reactions which has blown this all out of proportion entirely.

IMO, just from watching this thread and trying to take in everyone's viewpoint, I find that the pro-gay marriage crowd is doing a good job of alienating me. I don't even feel like it's a discussion anymore, it's more like an attempted force feeding and you know what that's going to get you? The exact opposite reaction. I think that stuff makes your cause look bad if some can't even reel in their emotions for five minutes and participate in a rational discussion about a topic that is important to many on this thread. The name calling and all is just bad and so are the personal attacks. The only ones judging are the ones accusing, they know who they are in this thread.

I've watched many threads go from civil, intelligent discussion right into a war of words and mod intervention to close the thread. This one is getting close to that, so can't you guys play nice? All this over a word. It all seems so silly. Homosexuals have equal rights pertaining to this, but that's not really what you're after since it's already been done. The ONLY difference is "marriage" vs. "civil union". That's it and this is what the conversation turns into? No wonder we can't get anything done in this country. People can't stop hating others long enough to be productive in important discussions. I feel like I'm being turned away from the pro camp at this point since *some* of you can't control your emotions long enough to properly convey what you're even trying to say. It just makes your side look silly, I'm sorry, but it does and it gives me no pleasure to say that.

ollncasino, You are just an ignorant BULLY, go try your ways on someone else little boy, you shouldn't attempt to go toe to toe with me. I'll just end up making you look more foolish then you do now. Go play elsewhere junior. Go spew your unrealistic definition of marriage to someone who will actually listen to your trash.

The real bigots in the gay marriage row are the liberals

Indeed, anyone wishing to make the case against same-sex marriage must do so rationally. Calling its advocates rude names, or deriding their arguments, would simply weaken the case.

This view is plainly not shared by Lynne Featherstone, the Lib Dem MP who is Equalities Minister. She said the opposition expressed by prominent Christians to same-sex marriage was ‘homophobic’ and belonged in ‘the Dark Ages’. She singled out as ‘medieval’ the use of the term ‘heretic’ by a cleric to describe those advocating a change in the law.

Miss Featherstone said her own views were, by contrast, ‘progressive’ and the Government’s policy was ‘loving’.

Such blinkered intransigence — indeed, I would go so far as to call it bigotry — does not bode well for the free, pluralistic society that liberals claim to believe in.

And it makes a mockery of their much-vaunted virtue of ‘tolerance’.

The truth is that ministers are all too aware of the widescale opposition to their policy (not just among clergy, but also among many reasonable people of faith and no faith), and have cynically decided to launch an all-out assault on their opponents.

Daily Mail

Why do I oppose gay marriage?

Because I could never support the rabid dog tactics used by the pro-gay marriage movement.

Homosexuals already have equal rights when it comes to this. They have all the rights of a married heterosexual couple. The only bullying in this thread is from the pro camp. If you want people on your side, there can't be people trying to bully others into their opinion with political trolling remarks, personal attacks and name calling. That gets the cause nowhere. If there really are so many in favor of gay marriage, and I believe the number is high, where's the petition with hundreds of thousands of votes? Would it be bullying if the pro-gay marriage crowd did that? Would you be here talking about how they are "bullying" the ones who oppose it? The tactics used by the pro camp in this thread are counterproductive and alienating.
