There are biological differences between a hetrosexual couple and a homosexual couple.

So....? There are biological differences between redheads and brunettes. What's your point?

My point is, dogs are not called cats becuase they are different.

Gay civil unions are not called marriages because they are different.

To be honest if we got a petition together to let gay people get married Iam pretty sure the good people of the UK would get alot more than 300,000 people to sign it.

Nope.

The Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement, and other groups, is running its own petition in support of homosexual marriage, which has attracted only 33,400 signatures so far.

They have only been called civil unions because gays are discriminated against. Marriages between people who love each other are different from marriages between people with other goals. Do we term them differently? Do we call a marriage between atheists something different than a marriage between Christians? I repeat, there have been same-sex marriages in history, therefore heterosexuals do not own the rights to marriage. The true definition of marriage should be a union between two consenting adults. Anything else is discrimination against a group, specifically gays.

Why are you so against it? does it bother you that much that two people who love each other can have the same rights as a man/woman marriage? does it effect you?
Or are you just a homophobe?.

Monkeyboy, I work with gays, I have been friends with gays.

I still don't think that a cat should be called a dog or that a gay civil union should be called a marriage.

They are different.

What I dont get is why people that dont have theistic fath in a religion want to get married at all? The sanctity of marriage? Give me a freaking break. Marriages are failing left right and center. My real question to gay people is this (me being one of them). Why would you want be married when the actual act you wish to follow through with is upheld for/by the people that oppose your right to wed? And most, oppose your actions in general. Thats like going to war when you claim to oppose war. Its a rather strange situation and appeal in my mind.

EDIT: The ammount of back and forth bickering going on is useless and serves no purpose. Mods should probably tear this thread down. Marriage is a fading trend people, it should not bother you that certain people cannot be wed. Its the churches ceramony, why any body without faith would want to go through that ceromony is beyond me. Its a religious ceromony directly linking you as a couple with a "god". Not for gay people, lesbian people or trans sexual people. Or for atheistic or agnostic people. Nothing is wrong with that.

Sure they do. The majority says I have to surrender part of my income to support the lazy and indolent. I am a minority, and I am not alone. However, the "majority" wants something for nothing and refuses to understand that there is no such thing. So, don't tell me that the majority has no right to do it, it happens every day.

Why isn't a dog called a cat?

... you just proved my point. Its just a word, why do you care what someone calls their relationship? Why do you care if a canine is called a dog or a cat?

Meaningless. Overwhelming majorities support it and those majorities are growing. Soon as the old white male is gone, so will this anti-gay bigotry.

Gay marriage will not be stopped. It is inevitable.

Spent about twenty minutes reading through this whole thread here and this is my subjective assessment:

No one is understanding what OP is trying to say. He clearly doesn't have a problem with gay people, or what they do.

He is talking strictly terminology.

Because by definition, a dog is a canine. We can't just change the meanings of words whenever we feel like it, otherwise the language won't work...

This reaction and the coverage of this topic in the past week or so, showing the public's general viewpoint, is surprising to me.

Many people saying they oppose it since marriage can only be between a man and a woman.

Oh really? It's not like homosexuals, who for a long time would be sentenced to death if found out, and even in the 20th Century in the West, life long imprisonment, had much of an opportunity to "marry" in the past.

And God? What God wants or says? Come now, you all know people (in the UK at least) marry for love of each other, the established social norm of marriage and that it is something in modern society that is just seen to be done.

The premise of marrying to serve God, please God or for any other religious purposes has all but vanished.

Your comparison isn't very valid, in my view. This whole situation is about amending the religious and legal meaning, not the inherent meaning of the word. Do you not agree that society HAS to evolve in order to survive? Do you not think that the movements recently to change our old ways are nessicary for our survival?

God damn it's funny how heterosexuals are quick to say: their different so let's keep them apart of the rest of us!
I don't wanna be bending over tying my shoe laces when bam!! Up the butt!! He came from behind!! I'm being man handled !!

Rest your head, you will not get raped by homosexuals walk ing down the street. Basically, and no one can really argue with this, it's all about control. To control another group and population love the taste of partaking in the control ( especially when biggots see a chance at whining on gays).

I do not care for your bigotry, you bunch of ignorant morons! Civilisations are going down all around the world, like such, because we divide ourselves. And now I've given up on humanity, we are a disgrace to this planet and should be completly wiped off.

Just wanna say, I hate you all, everybody who's taking sides with these sorts of petitions, bills, laws ( you know all those dear things that absolutely dooes not affect our freedom )

Go jump off a bridge or someting...
No Peace and no Love

Look, words mean things.

Do I believe that to survive and evolve as a species we should actively uphold and shine good light on practices that could potentially lead to the lack of proliferation of our species?

Hmm...

Not really a chance I'd be willing to take, as a collective conciousness. X amount of people need to be born in X amount of time or the culture will die out.
