Fresh on the heels of the still as yet completely explained blast in North Korea, both the United States and Japan have indicated that there are signs
that there may be another ballistic missile test. The Japanese government has indicated that the missile being tested has the range to hit any part of
their island nation. Following the North’s refusal to meet in the latest rounds of talks regarding the nuclear standoff, both the United States and
Japan have noticed an increasing level of activity at several Rodong missile launch sites. The intelligence has come from both radio intercepts as
well as satellite reconnaissance

TOKYO (Reuters) - The United States and Japan have detected signs that North Korea is preparing to launch a ballistic missile capable of reaching
almost anywhere in Japan, Japanese government sources said on Thursday.
The preparations were detected after the reclusive communist state refused to take part in a fourth round of six-party talks on ending its nuclear
ambitions and said it would never give up its nuclear deterrent.
Tokyo and Washington had detected the signs after analyzing data from reconnaissance satellites and radio traffic, the Japanese government sources
said.
North Korean military vehicles, soldiers and possibly missile engineers were converging on several Rodong missile bases in the northeastern part of
the isolated communist state, they said.
The signs were first detected on Tuesday, the sources said.
"At this stage we don't think North Korea's missile launch is imminent," one source told Reuters on condition of anonymity. "But we still don't
know whether North Korea is serious about missile launches."

Other sources in the Japanese government have indicated that they don’t know when the missiles would be launched. Nor did they know if it was really
the intention of North Korea. In 1998 a missile test of the Taepodong ballistic missile passed over Japan and demonstrated that the island nation
could be targeted by the North. South Korean officials took a more cautious tone indicating that this may simply be an annual exercise. No evidence
has been found as of yet that the missiles have been fueled. However, the official could not rule out the possibility of a launch. In response to this
activity, Japan has sortied a Aegis class destroyer and an EP-3 electronic surveillance aircraft into the Sea of Japan to bolster their early warning
capabilities

The may be only long enough to threathen S.K., with Krazy Kim you dont know what is going to happen. I doubt they have the capabilty to reach longer,
but it must be consiered a possibility since they have close ties to China (USSR #2)

Yeah, I read about this earlier. Japans is concerned because the Rodong missile is capable of hitting targets in Japan. Here's a quote from the news
article.
The daily Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper reported Thursday that North Korea was preparing to launch Nodong missiles, which have a range of about 810
miles and would be capable of striking parts of Japan's main islands.
Here's the link I first read it on.
It's not carrying a nuclear warhead though. ( or so they say.)

I don't think its that alarming as of yet. Notice whenver Kim feels a threat, he starts sabre rattling. In alot of ways he reminds me of my 2 y/o. He
does not get what he wants, throws a tantrum and sees if we cave. If we don't then he has lost little, If we do he gains whatever it is he wanted.
Same with Kim. Its toddler pychology.

point taken nk's behaviour just remided me of what the japaese done during the second world war launching an attack on perl harbour.
while alot of troops were off fighting the germans like they are today in iraq.
and nth korea is taking this opportunity to play up i do agree with you i think they are trying to bait world leaders into go in guns blazing.
with the state of that country there is now way possible they are able to maintain any sort of sustained attack.

I'm no historian, but I thought the US troops came to Europe after Pearl Harbour.
Re: NK
There is a great deal of speculation and propaganda regarding NK, people choose to believe what they want, the same is happening regarding Iran. Any
country that doesn't agree to go along with western ways are slowly but surely being targetted. Personally I believe that neither NK or Iran would
attack first, unless provoked into doing so, something that would not be conveyed by the media if it were to happen. NK and Iran are not the only
countries with nutters in charge.

I think it would hurt bush/cheney if NK did a missle test... might bring the skeleton out of the closet that Rumsfield is the one that sold the
nuclear reactors to them... giving nuclear material (even if it is non weapons grade) to a country like NK is just going to incourage them to further
there weapon program... I wonder if those were the same "breeder type" reactors that we don't like Iran having... that would be tanatamount to
treason, if they were.
But fact is fact... Rumsfield got paid to give "nuclear secrets" to NK... but did it through a international company with a written contract, so
that makes it OK...HAAAA

The Secretary of State Colin Powell has expressed concern about the potential North Korean missile test. However, he stated that the US would continue
to persue a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Secretary of State Colin Powell (news - web sites) on Thursday expressed concern after reports that North Korea (news - web
sites) might carry out a new missile test but said it would not change the U.S. effort to persuade Pyongyang through diplomacy to abandon its nuclear
ambitions.

Ok - is it just me, or is anyone else thinking that maybe this test could turn out to be something a lot more real?

All the more reason to get the missile shield in place. I would rather have a small chancce than none at all to intercept the missile.

I'm no historian, but I thought the US troops came to Europe after Pearl Harbour.
sh*t now i'm even more confused the more i look at it the more i feel war is nothing but a organised human cull, feuled by the fact that america have
troops on every continent in the world i can't feel that the west is pushing their way's onto who they please.
nk can see this and are running scared they seem to think they are next on the hit list.

I was just at another very interesting web site that had quite a bit of info on North Korea. I don't know if the article I read was totally true
about their military, but if it was North Korea would be quite an advisary to go up against. Here's a link to the article you may find it very
interesting. It was more than what I thought of or new the North Korean military had. Could get pretty ugly if the you know what hit the fan.

Korea strike the U.S. ???
You would have to be a complete idiot to try and launch a missle attack on the U.S. We have more nukes on one submarine than they could muster in a
life time.
Im sorry but even the moron running that show over there is aware of the nuclear capability of our country. The last thing they want ot do is get in a
pissing contest with the U.S. There objective is to get noticed and it looks to me as if it has worked.
One more thing, does any of the crap you buy that is made in korea ever last ??? Half the time it never even works.............
