I love ATS.
Yes, this guy is an ass-hat and if found guilty, ought to hang.
But, as I've said several times in other threads, when the Taliban kill women and children, what do you hear on ATS?
Crickets.
After WW II this practice was made illegal by international law, where if the military did carry this tactic out and were caught, they could face hanging ala the Nuremberg Trials. So, good reason for "plausible deniability", which is to set up a patsy who will be under the medical care of a specialist psychiatrist (ala Timothy McVeigh or Sirhan Sirhan).
This modus operandi is as old as the hills and has been practiced in nearly every war ever carried out.
The military of the United States executed 160 soldiers and other members of the armed forces between 1942 and 1961 (these figures do not include German prisoners of war, war criminals and saboteurs executed by military authorities between 1942 and 1951). There have been no military executions since 1961 although the death penalty is still a possible punishment for several crimes under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Of these executions, 157 were carried out by the United States Army. The United States Air Force conducted the three remaining executions, one in 1950 and two in 1954. The U.S. Navy has not executed anyone since 1849.
