What should he have done eh?

CUT ALL SPENDING AND SOCIAL PROGRAMS while the economy spun out of control?

i would expect him to lead the nation and congress in doing what needs to be done, instead of walking into the casino and bailing out the too big to fail gamblers.

Congrats LBE on coining a new acronym... TBFG.... I like it... and your point is spot on... Casino and gamblers... great anaology... and our government allow these rat bastiges to gamble with the life savings and retirements of millions of Americans.

A star for you too.

Good post xuenchen... F n S for you

Obviously all Presidents inherit the strengths and weaknesses of the previous administration to a point.

Regardless, society and history measure a President by his actions, including the reactions to these inherited factors.

The FACT is: regardless of the politics, race or religion of the President and the Congress, those shielded from reality and consequences of their actions, it is the regular citizen which suffers.

History is currently recording the actions and reactions of this President and this Congress for all to judge.

The first problem I see with this administration is the transparency promised has became opaque.

Obama didn't initiate the bank/insurance bailouts, do you need a link to refresh your memory?

Not to worry. Paul Ryan has a great plan.

He proposes to cut the top earners tax rate from 35 to 25%.

The average millionaire will receive a bit short of 200k extra a year.

So, this should fix the debt...erm..somehow.

Sorry for that, I was in a hurry when I read your post and posted after that. I rectified my mistake.

I agree the economy of today is nothing but an illusion and easily manipulated to keep the masses from going into a panic attack.

Of course he didn't initiate it, but regardless he must deal with it.

Facts have always been that every President elected did in fact inherit any good, or bad from a previous administration.
The job description, which Senator Obama accepted as his in being elected to the highest office in the land plainly contained many obvious woes.
Senator Obama is the one who said he would accept the challenge, and suggested he could fix these problems better than the Republican candiates he ran against.
So no, I don't need any help in seeing the reality of the situation.
And so no I care not about whining and excuses now.
Rule 1 - regardless of party affiliation, you should not take the job of President if you don't want to accept the responsibility of the job.
I'm really suprised in the Obamaites (his supporters) as frankly I don't see the President whining and crying like many in his voting base. I see him manning up and tackling the hard issues. Kudos to him and pfffffftttt to the whiners and cryers.
Whether he will be able to improve the situation, only history will show.

Correction, Obama AND congress has increased the debt to that amount. And debt will continue to grow as long as we have the current central banking practices in order along with a war economy and liabilities which we cannot pay for.

Why does the UsA not just tax imports 500% ????

Corporations won't allow it and have bought off too many politicians. We also have the problem of both parties passing free trade....and i think that is part of the reason why Democrats won't sign on to doing it either...although some of them are bought and payed for as well.

A tax on imports is a tax they simply can't avoid. I don't think we should tax all imports though...only imports that are made with slave labor.

Some of the dems are bought and paid for, that's rich, why not be truthful and say most politicians.

Yeah, he did. He also probably thought he'd get some help from Republicans on tax increases for the wealthy. Of course, as you all know, the only debt reduction Republicans will allow is spending cuts to social programs.

I'm sure if he could have raised taxes with some COMPROMISE, it could have been attainable.

One thing that is really happening (with welfare) is that section 8 voucher carriers are able to be choicey about their taxed-payed for homes:

"This one does not have the vaulted ceilings that I like...next house please."

"Where is the fireplace? Next house please."

"I need a 2 car-garage, thank you...Next house please."

Welfare no longer has the negative connotation that it once carried. In fact, this class lives better than the working class, and most feel absolutely no shame about it whatsoever.
